STORY

The project was conceived and overseen by @Laharl. He had each member of staff choose a few characters they liked, and compiled a list. Katie then came up with the basic layout, and animation idea. From there Logic Puzzle and Soren then created custom artwork for each character to fit the slats layout, including 3 original characters. Once all the artwork was finished, Katie animated the flip sequence, I added the scrolling text, and there you have it. MFFA's brand new, very own custom artwork banner!

CHARACTERS
Logic Puzzle's OC is named Marla. She wears glasses, has blond hair, and is holding the Sprite Club soap bar, 2nd one down in the center stack of horizontal tiles.

Soren's OC is named Spritama. She has an red-orange top, blond har, and is the 4th one down in the center stack of tiles.

RicePigeon's OC is named Miffa. She's MFFA's official mascot. She has blue hair and a French maid's outfit, and she can be seen in the 3rd tile down in the center stack. Chat her up any time in our Discord server, where she and her crew of chatbots have their own channel.

As for which staff member chose which character, here's the list:

Been a couple years since I've added to this log, but there's been a -lot- of development in that time. Going to start from the most recent and work backwards from memory, and cover just the last couple months.

CHANGES ON THE SITE
- renamed [ MEMBER INTERESTS ] to [ GENERAL INTERESTS ] updated its description and renamed some of its sub-forums

- added [ SPRTE CLUB ] main forum to the Mugen District on the front page, with its own sub forum setup.

- @Arxos is the admin of the Sprite Club forum, and moderators there are currently @Mitsukai, @Brergrsart, @Crasherfly, and @Gumhoy

- Added a topic to [ SITE OVERVIEW ] for how to get the a Discord chat popup button hovering in the corner of the site (for forum members only).

- Overhauled the text editor, fixed some of the buttons having wrong icons, and balanced the presentation

- Setting up security questions for two factor authentication is no longer mandatory. They can be enabled and disabled in Account Settings.

- If security questions are enabled, they will no longer prompt you to answer them as often, only if you're logging in from a new device or updating accepted devices.

- I rebuilt the Collections Directory, so it now has the option to sort by game type instead of just alphabetically. It also has an option to translate it to Japanese.
- If we can find a person (or people) who speaks Spanish and is (are) willing to translate the names of the collections, I will add a Spanish translation option to the directory.
- Updated many of the page tops, in various sub forums. [ MUGEN THEATER ] being one of the main ones.

- The forum software is removing status updates in their next update, so those won't be coming back, as much as I would've loved to revive them.

- Added more pixel art gifs to various sub-forums so all (or almost all?) level 2 sub forums now have an image associated with them.

- Moved the [ RESOURCE ROOM ] out of [ THE WAREHOUSE ] and into [ CREATION LAB ] and renamed it to [ RESOURCE CENTER ].

- Added a [ ANNOUNCEMENTS [ to the [ COMMUNITY CENTER ] and a widget to the main page's sidebar, showing the 3 most recent announcements.
- The announcements widget includes announcements from Sprite Club's [ ANNOUNCEMENTS ] sub-forum.

- Fixed all the broken Onion Heads that were either missing backgrounds and removed a few that were odd resolutions. They're all no 50 x 50px.
- Added some new Onion Heads:

CHANGES ON DISCORD
- Admins will no longer be moderating. That will be covered by the g-mods and discord mods.

- We're in the process of mirroring the forums 10 point system on Discord, so there will be a wider, but more definite gradient to turn behavior around.

- Wick Bot's settings were waay too strict, so its grip been loosened. I'd rather not say how exactly, but expect less random Robocop attacks.
- We're trying a new Forum Updates bot that hopefully won't break as often as the old one did.
- Posts made in the new [ ANNOUNCEMENTS ] forum auto-share to the Discord server's Announcements channel.
- Sprite Club's staff have been given their respective roles in the Discord server.

PEAK AT SOME UPCOMING CHANGES

- Brand new banner is in the works.

- Our forum's software provider decided to merge awards and badges. So the Onion Head tokens will be changing or vanishing soon to make room for an actual trophy system.

- The video sharing page tops will be getting overhauled soon, to improve their functionality. The spoiler will also be removed once that's done.

- Cleaning up many posts that are in the wrong sub forums.

- A Sprite Club betting league is in the works.

Setting up two factor authentication with security questions is no longer mandatory for all accounts. It's now optional, and can be enabled or disabled in your account settings. Furthermore, when they are enabled, the system will no longer ask you to answer them as often. It will only ask if you log in from an unknown device, or update your authorized devices.

Really, it's embarrassing that it took us this long. The OG boss and founder of MFFA finally has his own place in [ HOUSE CHOICE CREATORS ] Drop in and check out his work, say hi on one of his topics! More will be showing up there soon, as our organizational efforts continue.
 

I rebuilt the Collection's Directory page top so that it can now be sorted either alphabetically by name, or by game type, and this can be done in either English or Japanese. When you open the directory page top, you'll see the sort options just above the footer.

Thanks to Laharl and Tako for the Japanese translations, and sorting our collections by game type.

DISCORD CHAT POPUP

•  WHAT IS THIS BUTTON YOU ASK?

You can get our Discord server to pop up in a chat bubble in the lower right hand corner of the website.
 

•  HOW TO GET IT
To do this, you need to be logged in, scroll to the bottom of any page on the site, and look for a drop down button labeled "Theme".  Click on it and select the theme called Abyss - Discord Chat (Members Only). This version of the sites theme has a purple button with a Discord logo that hovers in the lower right hand corner of the page.

•  HOW TO USE IT
To use it just click on it, and it will expand into a small chat window with MFFA's Discord server in it. To select a channel just click the 3 purple horizontal lines button in the upper left. To close it again, just click the X in the lower right. Very simple. You also need to be logged into your Discord account to use it.

•  HOW TO NOT ABUSE IT
Please keep in mind it is possible for our staff to ban your access to our Discord server, if you abuse this feature.

STORY 

In February of 2019 we held an open custom banner design contest for the site. We received quite a few submissions, and over the following years we cycled through 3 of them, mostly using the one made by TotalDramaExtremist. Eventually we landed on TheArcadeStrikers's entry, and stuck with it. Here is a look at the other entries:

@takoApologies for that one (and the consistency of its recurrence). There is a permanent fix for that one that should be implemented by the end of the year. Thanks for pointing it out!

I have some pretty big changes planned for the holiday season, so welcome to the hype thread. This year the wrapping paper is clear, most of it anyway, and you get to see the new things in advance. Feel free to comment on this stuff, discuss, make suggestions, ask questions, throw your ideas out there, whatever you want. The entire point is to make this place better for you lol, so if you want to tell me how to do that, I'm all ears. So, anyway what's under the tree?

AWARDS
You will soon be able to get and give awards. Mostly get. There will be various Onion Tokens (look like arcade tokens) awarded for things like 100 posts, or 10 best answers to questions etc. In total there will be about 21 tokens you can get. There will also be various colored Onion Cards which members can award each other with, for all kinds of random social stuff. Beyond that there will be trophies for things like character creation, stage creation, cotm etc. 

RANKS
Upgrades to the forum software have done away with our old ranking system, which was based entirely on number of posts. We now have a points based Ranking economy, where various numbers of points are earned for various activities, like 10 points for a new post, or 5 points for a reply, or 2 points for a react, etc. Points can be gained in all kinds of ways, and they will advance you through 30 levels of Rank.

GROUPS
Members will be allowed to create Groups, and there will also be some "site official" groups. Groups have leaders, moderators, members, and varying levels of accessibility all determined by their creator. It's possible to make a group for pretty much anything, they don't have to be Mugen related. All of the content on the front page under the Ikemen Dojo, and above The Castle / Staff stuff, will be moved into individual Groups. Those groups will be looking for mods too, so keep an eye out in them for mod threads if you're interested.

REACTIONS
There will be new reaction choices. We've gotten rid of downvoting, the 3 reaction types that increase the posters reputation will be "like", "rep-up", and "thanks". There will also be animated emoji reactions which do not increase the posters rep.
 

NEW TIMELINE
The timeline is getting a css overhaul that makes it look more like other social media sites, and less like an eyesore. Again, this was something that was done a while ago, but a major update to the system software killed the old version, so a new one was/is being created.

This thread is for public discussion about the current issue with staff backing up Ryou's collections in the collection section.  The goal is to clear the air and put everything out in the open, and let everyone discuss it in one place. Too many things are currently being relayed between people indirectly in an effort to resolve this peacefully. So in an effort to get everyone is on the same page with full transparency, so everyone knows where everyone else is at, and has full and easy access to staff for questions, here's a thread to centralize the discussion on. I know this is a tense issue, but I hope with enough communication we can get this all sorted out. This discussion is open to anyone and everyone, and will be followed by all of our staff.

After much deliberation, head scratching, mustache twisting, and plotting with ridonkulocity hitherto unseen... or maybe just a few solid staff convos, we're happy to announce the new members of our mod squad!


@Dissidia has taken on the role of G-Mod on both the server and the site. As a long standing and friendly member of the MFFA community and knowledgeable Mugen creator and gamer we're stoked to have him on the team!


@gui0007 move up to the role of G-Mod on the site. He does have the position on the server as well, but his main area of focus is the forums. So if you want to contact him, that's where to do it. He's another MFFA veteran, and Mugen creator well deserving of respect and appreciation!


@Neo_Fire_Sonic is our new Discord Mod . He's been an MFFA as long as any of us, and with the Discord server from its inception. Our resident feisty Sonic fanatic will now be making sure everyone remains copacetic on the server, so when he says dash start spinning!


@Sir Ghostler has ascended to the rank of @Admin . Behold the apotheosis of the newest god in the MFFA pantheon! A proven G-Mod , established MFFA member, and Mugen creator with a keen sense of fairness, we're a richer team for having him in the top ranks!


Much gratitude and respect to all of our staff members for the work you do, day in and day out! Everyone knows it's not easy makin the big bucks with your feet on the desk all day, but we all passively appreciate being able to enjoy ourselves without being overrun by roving droves of assholes. Thanks for all you do.

 

Brand crispy new mad science has arrived!!!
A new theme is now available which allows you to chat in Discord while roaming the forums!
Scroll down to the bottom of the page, click on Themes, and select "Abyss (with Discord)". 

The top banner and nav bar will change and you'll get a Discord icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen.

Click that to open up a Discord chat window. You can close the Discord chat by clicking on the X in it's lower right hand corner.
