Is the mugen running out of variety with the characters

Hello guys I  want to keep this short well for all the time I've been playing mugen there been something I've noticed in the character area.

it seems that there is so much evil,orochi,god kof street fighter characters .Here's some examples if your still not getting what im saying.

 

1. evil ken
2. evil ryu
3. god ryu
4. god kyo
5. god rugal
6. god ken
7. god akuma
8. orochi akuma
9. kof  chunli
10. kof  ken

These are just prim examples that shows that mugen is kind of running out of variety.

This has been something that has been an ongoing thing seemingly forever, and it's not going to stop anytime soon either.

If you think that variety is sucked out of mugen and all you can find are god and orochi edits, then you're not looking in the right places.

Plus, there is a HUGE variety of characters available... the reason why there are so many versions of Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Kyo, etc. because those are POPULAR characters. My roster in is VERY huge and it contains more than one version of just some of the characters, such as Bison, Cammy, Rugal, Iori, Talbain, Capt. Commando and Hauzer. I recommend looking in the collection directory at this forum for characters of a specific series and check which ones you don't have.

I don't really see why you're listing those things when there's clearly a lot of variety in Mugen anyway. If you keep downloading chars that's similar to the one you listed, then go to another website and download somewhere else.

 

It's not like you're really oblivious to the new releases as of now.

There is and always will be a huge variety of characters in mugen. Theres always new material. its whos paying attention to it or not. Its what you are limiting yourself to download my friend and where you are searching to find this stuff. 

 

I havent downloaded a God or Orochi named character since 2007 seriously haha.

 

Theres way more stuff out there not dealing with KOF or street fighter

you have to go out the box a bit more with mugen man, seriously^^ Expand your search methods in finding new mugen material when it comes to sites and forums thats all and youll be happier

You certaintly haven't been looking in threads about characters released long ago, have you? And since when did "lolies based on anime(?)" had to do with edits of KOF & Street Fighter characters mentioned here?

because these boards SUCK, it's best to just look for images around in danbooru or gelbooru

I have no comment on the character A/V design variety limit.........but I do see some running out of character moveset variety.........

 

- ground (including ground-to-air) moves

- air (including air-to-ground) moves

- float moves

- evade moves

- bait/absorb moves

- counter moves

- power-up/down moves

- projectile/assist moves

- supplementary moves (i.e. life up by using some magic item)

- z-index like (i.e. Fatal Fury's "step-ins-outs") moves

- transformation (including armed/disarmed) moves

- conditional moves (i.e. SS0/SSV Yoshitora's 7-sword execution or ROTD "XABBY" thing)

- cinematic/RTS moves

- show-off (not really some attacks i.e. Dan's big taunt or MK Fatality) moves

- RPG-styled moves

- and EX/super/ultra/desparation/OHKO move are all similar with different conditions (i.e. life/power/rage gauge)

 

Some movesets depend on a game system and some systems are repeating/duplicating from games to games.............

but i'll have to agree with you.

mugen is running out of variety, but it has been for YEARS.

 

its at that point where we rely on edits to bring new characters to the game. such as ones from the animes or other games.

 

variety is and is not a issue for mugen.

 

but its what keeps us alive, so we rely on it just as much as we may hate it.

 

we need creators with BIG ideas to keep things fresh.

And all the "original" characters I seem to see use poor old... Old Daniel as a base for everything.

Perhaps the users could just give more attention for authors who likes to be original.

Instead of a Street Fighter character of any sort, I've started with a doujin game character.

 

Support depends of those who download of course, but if even so those who download don't give support of any sort, then it'll be discouraging.

 

I'll make more variated characters from both anime and cartoon.

But, I'll make sure to let them fit their original sources instead of shotoclones (Yadamon) or adding petty internet memes (like the bad Animaniacs characters).
