Time for some Mugen stuff again, I missed this so much :)

Here is a beta of Dr. Fate. I was working on this character secretly. Mon-El did a great job making the sprites and the ideas, HyperVoiceActing did nice voices for him, Trexell did basic stuff for it and I coded the whole character.



Some of his effects were custom made by me, from the scratch, rendered in Cinema 4D.

Why are you leaving? No explanation or anything makes me think you were waiting for something like this to go away from here. I won't sugarcoat my post, that's exactly how I feel.
 
The story that you wrote about MFG being evil and all that and this forum being the best mugen home of all...
your constant repeating "other forums" (referring to MFG) are very harsh and will start to bash you when you get there because of me-first releases (because that happened years ago and you still continue to think that), and to think you even told Laharl to deal with you in case something like this happens...
... then saying Chuchoryu is your hero in that forum... (for me it's the icing on the cake, but very well then, I understand...)
 
Why can't you change?
Is it difficult to move from the past? To learn from your mistakes? Why do you have to run away when someone is telling you the truth instead of accepting it and trying to become better?
Will you do the same thing if it happens in another forum, or are you sure that won't happen since that forum is inhabitated by posters who say "Nice + 1" posts?
Or maybe that's why you're moving there.
Probably you don't want to talk in a civil manner with others and you just want "robots" who like your stuff; keep in mind that only because they like stuff it doesn't mean they have actually downloaded it, and still, even then, don't you want to make better content? I guess not from your last post.
 
About that story, it was sad/funny (depending on the points of view) for the first, second or third time, but constantly repeating (aka copy-pasting) the same stuff over and over and over again makes us think you'll never change and you'll still have the same bias you had years ago against MFG. And I guess you're going to add MFFA, because yes, they were so evil to tell you to stop writing that story and to move on. They were so evil that they left you a place where to post your creations. They were so evil that they welcomed you.

  This topic may have been intended for attention, but it was treated terribly becaus eof the poster and not because of the content.   Let me list why I am utter loss of words for how terrible this thread was handled. This was straight up censorship. This was someone posting an update in his life, and instead he was met by direct ridicule for holding religious beliefs and then marginalized over real life issues because of fucking mugen creations. This was vile. The man is clearly depressed and you are making things worse not by locking because this is a clear call for help, but because he brings up his religion.   A) Laharl I like you man but your post is not only wholly ignorant, disgustingly judgmental, and clearly bearing past prejudice and bias- it is also totally irrelevant. AxSeeker talks about preaching locally, giving up parts of his lifestyle, the crossroads he is at- and you ahve the gall to completely shit all over him with some completely irrelevant crap about his MUGEN career. What does his charcatres have to do with this. Why are you making such huge assumptions?   Your evidence for your claims are not evidence. They are pure conjecture. You think his story is bogus simply because his charaters are bad, and instead of just dismissing everything as attention-seeking, you also dismiss it as being completely false. How demeaning do you think it is to a person that their life is marginalized and seen as a total lie, becaus ethey made some free content people disliked. This is the first time i've ever made a storyboard, for.... anything mugen. the above Gif is mostly beta.

SO I'm making Nicole from Guardian Heroes, for mugen.
whats to know? Only 1 other version of her Exists (to my knowledge) and its fairly accurate, minus 1 small detail.
 
Nicole has a cloak, thats transparent, The other version of her has it as a solid object, Where as I will be coding it seperately and as a transparent cloak.
 
She will follow the same mechanics as my other Guardian Heroes characters.
 
X Y Z , 3 button gameplay.
Combo friendly.
Super friendly.
 
Easy to play as,(at some point) Hard to master.
 
as for now shes mostly coded, Im missing the 5000's, but her basic attacks and special attacks are all coded.

The thing about the Great Old Ones (as Cthulhu and his kind are called) is that they exist in an otherwise rational world where everything is normal, so just seeing them (and, in some cases, just learning such creatures can exist) is so against what people of the time think of as "reality" that it just breaks their brains entirely, and this has generally translated into most portrayals of them causing madness just from looking at them.
 
And, yes, there are more Great Old Ones, all of which look different and impossibly alien, with Cthulhu (despite being a hundred-foot-tall immortal and invulnerable deity) being pretty close to the bottom of the heap power-wise.  They don't really want to conquer humanity, because they barely even know humanity exists.  They kill humans and destroy human civilization with the same lack of awareness that you might accidentally destroy an anthill while you're taking a walk in the woods.  As far as they're aware, they already rule the universe.
 
They are Giygas at his brain-breakingly creepiest and most powerful, long before Giygas existed.
 
Shuma-Gorath, in the comics, is meant to be that same level of power (which is odd that he's known mostly as a weird and sort of underpowered fighting game character).
 
Which makes it hard to put them into a video game, really (Mugen or otherwise).  Once you give something like the Great Old Ones stats, they lose a lot of what makes them them.  (Which is probably what happened to Shuma)
 
That said, I'll give this a try if I can.  (I mostly want to see whether I can pull the characters out and use them in my main game)
 
Edit: They can be pulled out and used in regular Mugen, so I've given them a try.
 
Many of these (Excalibur, Bastet, Cthulhu himself, etc) appear to be spriteswaps of the same tiny hyper-fast self-healing character, all with the exact same "tearing up the ground" animations and the same "hovering in the air while punching madly" attack.  Yes, Cthulhu, who is supposed to be a hundred feet tall, instead stands waist-high to Ryu. (And it's not just because all the characters are supposed to be equally huge.  He's the same size as HBL, the normal human in the pack)
 
The few that aren't spriteswaps are still terrible all around, with default sounds, very few animations, and generally nothing interesting about them.  (The latter complaints also apply to the spriteswaps)
 
Even for a "demo", it's all very, very disappointing.

Call of Cthulu is a book by H.P. Lovecraft.  It's also the name of an old RPG.  Maybe it's just because I'm a fan of Lovecraft, but you need to at least Google this pls.

You tried DJ HANNIBALROYCE's and RoySquadRocks' MUGEN stuff?  If you can be creative like both of them, then I think it does not matter what source games you take to make for MUGEN.

It can not be denied that the first-impression of everything (not just MUGEN) is some ticket to any entrances.
If the sprites look great but the gameplay is not cool, then there is still a hope of fixes by other decent MUGEN creators/authors who care.
If the sprites look not cool but the gameplay is great, then the hope of fixes can only be put up to by the spriters/spriter rippers who make/rip.
So, the case #1 seems to be a one-to-many relations, while the case #2 seems to be a one-to-one relations.  Of course different spriters/spriter rippers might work together to make case #1&#2 have a many-to-many relations, yet its probability of happening is quite small.....for example, I don't know how to draw sprites, I only do sprite-ripping by my own if the sprites are not available anywhere anyhow.  When I release a hard-to-rip-and-sprites-quality-not-cool MUGEN stuff, it is normal for people to say, "hey your ripped sprites look like craps."  I don't quite mind that.  What I mind more is, when people say, "hey your MUGEN ideas suck dinosaur toe forever, I don't accept your fixes and you should stop your MUGEN'ing now!".  I can never understand why some people love to intentionally discourage the others like that.  These people are worse than those germs that make people suck.  What do they gain by doing that?  What if they receive the same discouragements?
 
By the way, IMHO sprites are involved in a kind of like a subjective judgements, while gameplays are involved in a kind of like an objective judgements.  It is kind of like Arts vs Sciences.
