Of course it will.

Wavebird controllers just cut out the wire. The receiver still plugs into the GameCube ports and the controller otherwise functions identically to the regular GameCube controller.

 

Guise, since they're making a GameCube adapter for the Wii U, what if they're releasing HD revamps of GC titles.

Spoiler alert! GameCube controller actually works with Wind Waker HD... well, it might. It'd be hilarious if they planned this out in advance.

 

Also, it's most likely so they can seamlessly release GameCube titles on the eshop, which is something they've already said they'd do.

That won't happen they never release unreleased games, take for example star fox 2, It never made it to the virutal console.
