Stage of the month?

Knowing what a community's favourite releases for a specific month are is a really cool thing, even if it's just to see how the result differs from that of other forums' CotM competitions, but there's not much point to the whole thing if people aren't participating. I'd love for it to continue, but only if more people take part.
I'll keep the poll open for a few more days just to get a broader perspective on other people's opinions on this matter. As for that last part, I agree. Any suggestions you have for what might attract more people?

Alright, so this post is mainly to get user's opinions on MFFA's CotM. Long story short, there have been a few factors leading to a possible discontinuation;
- Lack of turnout. April 2016's CotM had a depressingly low turnout, with only 5 candidates. Prior CotM voting stages have also had a rather low voter turnout, barely passing 20 votes in the past few months. We had similar issues in the past when we had more restrictive requirements for candidates, which have been lowered to the current 3 nominations to combat this problem. This was initially successful, but obviously didn't do much in the long term. I understand that MFFA has a comparatively small userbase compared to other forums, which may also be a contributing factor.
- Comparisons to MFG: There's been some criticism lately that MFFA is slowly becoming a carbon copy of MFG, some of which cited CotM as an example of this. MFG isnt the only forum to have CotM, with RandomSelect and even MMV having their own. However, I can see where such criticism is coming from, as many of MFFA's CotM rules were indeed based on the the rules for MFG's version, but with added safeguards implemented in order to combat what was seen as criticism of MFG's CotM threads at the time (one of which being the aforementioned 4 nomination rule, which was later lowered to 3). Discontinuing MFFA's CotM will hopefully put people's minds at ease by nipping the problem in the bud, but only if people honestly don't want CotM anymore in its current form.
I've also included a poll which will also help influence our decision as to whether or not CotM will continue or not. Any feedback or suggestions on this issue are appreciated.

Candidates
- Akuma by DivineWolf
- Clippy by The_None
- Eirin Yagokoro by RicePigeon
- God-O-Mite by The Magic Toaster
- Tiny B0rf (Pocket Morrigan) by Daniel9999999
Voting ends May 31st, 2016
Additionally, due to the low turnout and other factors, we are considering whether or not this will be the final CotM for MFFA. Your feedback is appreciated

This was most likely the method used to achieve the result you saw. You used the Explod (or Helper) state controller.

Might wanna add a NSFW spoiler tag on that one

What kind of absurdity is that?

Assuming Trump wins, which is still too early to tell at this point.
Even then, banning and deporting feminists from the US is just about as dangerous as what feminists are doing right now trying to censor critics, if not more so because of the legal ramifications. Its a can of worms that you really don't want to open.

This sounds a tad on the disrespectful side. What version of mugen the author chooses to release their creations on is their choice.

Why are you making a joke about this? The Angry Birds movie being shit is a serious topic, because I really hoped for a good Angry Birds movie, not that piece of shit we are getting now.
I mean, just look at them! They now have legs and arm-like wings! Why the hell do they not like bird balls like they SHOULD?! WHY? WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY???
Considering what happened with AVGN recently, I would argue that the Ghostbusters reboot being shit is more of a serious topic than the Angry Birds movie. If the leaked script and the reactions to James's video are anything to go by, then the Ghostbusters reboot has far more problems than just legs and arm-wings. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take Totalbiscuit's advice and spend my time more productively by watching the original again.

This honestly comes as no surprise to me. After all, we're talking about a site run by someone who, in the past, asked the staff of MFG for OrochiGill's IP address for the purpose of "pre-emptively banning him" from his forums before he could even register (which he had no intention to do so anyway). God only knows what his true intentions were had he managed to get a hold of that information, but considering the animosity he held toward him then (and probably still does now), it's not all that hard to guess.
Volzilla also posted this in response to "other sites";
QuoteIt never fails, there will be some guy who gets banned, then proceeds to lie about the circumstances at other places all for the sake of drama.
QuoteYou're an ass.
you don't know how to read, or you are blind to the obvious, or something, whatever.
Sorry, but your kind of attitude makes for a shitty way to run site.
QuoteI work too hard at this place, so I have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to name calling and insults. This is why he [rhiggatwat] was banned.

Since a lot of people are asking why I closed the previous thread, allow me to explain my side of the story.
To put it simply, that thread essentially became a dumping grounds for offtopic posts that were split off from their original threads. In a way, all it was doing was promoting excessive shitposting. While a little shitposting now and then doesn't hurt, there were certain posts that were getting a bit too much. We recently had to remove images of orgies that were posted in the art thread that went well beyond what would be considered within safe limits of what can and can't be posted. I wanted to give the thread a new start to cut down on that (besides that, it was going on over 200 pages). I could have just left the thread open and deleted posts that were split off into that thread, but going through the whole thread and nailing each of them down would have taken way too long and more than likely more than a few of them would have been missed. I felt that creating a new thread was the best solution.
5 hours ago, ゴーストキラー said:When are you going to stop with your crusade to turn MFFA into a carbon copy of MFG? Seriously, this was extremely unnecessary. If you want to make sudden changes like this, you should at least have the courtesy to consult them with the members of the forum first.
I'll admit I may have been too hasty, but closing the shit thread wasn't part of some "crusade to turn MFFA into a carbon copy of MFG". If anything, its the exact opposite. The fact that the old Shit Thread existed with that specific name, along with frequent title changes to poke fun at whatever posts were split off into it, was evidence that it was already becoming too much like MFG (which was my fault originally), and I essentially took a step to correct that by closing it and opening this thread in it's place.
Hopefully this clears up any misunderstandings.

Just a heads up, I had to remove some of the drawings due to crossing the line of what is acceptable (artistic nudity is okay, depictions of sex acts and body fluids is not).

So up until now, the Shit thread (formerly known as the Random thread) has pretty much become a dumping ground of shitposts and posts that were split from their original thread for whatever reason. Its time for a new beginning. A new random thread:
-
So the random thread will be taking a new direction. Post anything that isn't deserving of its own topic. The only general rule is no shitposting/flaming/etc.
