That's the same error I was getting way back before the whole forum kerfuffle. IIRC, it's where the forum can't process the large page size and effectively gives up trying to publish it.

I did say that...

@Ryon @GarchompMatt I'm not going to leave the possiblity out that it's too huge, but if that's the case, then all the collections that myself, Ryuuochi, GarchompMatt, and pretty much everyone has done are too big, one example like before, is the Creepypasta collection, it's pretty small and I can't even edit that, and like Alex said, it may be an extension.

However this doesn't explain why it will sometimes sign me out automatically, it's done this twice, but hasn't done it since. Also while I'm viewing another page and I get a notification about a post or status update, I usually open that in a new tab for quicker viewing. However the new tab will display that I'm not signed in, but the other page will say that I am.

I hope I'm not coming off as harsh, the last thing I want to do is cause trouble. I just figure I'd point a few more things out.

If I remember right, GarchompMatt was having this issue before the problem train hit us.  It's actually the reason I initially adjusted the archiving settings.  And that was before any new buttons or plugins were installed.  I'm still able to edit those threads with no problem (that touhou collection is massive tho), so maybe there's a memory limit in the browser somewhere?   If it were a size limit per post, I can't see why I would be able to edit them and not Ryon.  We're both admins.

I'll check the admin cp anyway and see if I can find an upper limit.

IF we end up needing to overcome the post size, we could make a new Touhou thread (for example) with one or 2 top posts, and then move the old thread into that thread, copy just the characters into the top post, and use the 2 new additional posts to house stages and screen packs?  Pretty sure that would erase the insane number of views, but then again I might be able to edit that manually to restore that as well.

POST size is handled in the PHP or Nginx configuration on the server itself. It's unlikely that the AdminCP would allow for that unless you're given access to php.ini. It'd be very surprised though. Still, it's odd that a 405 would be created from a post_limit exception.

hmm... ok if it was happening before the site went down, I can't really see how it would be a button or plugin.  None the less, I'm going to try disabling all the plugins and the apps until I hear back from you guys about whether or not it worked.  If that doesn't do it, we'll try the same thing with the editor.

...ok all plugins and apps disabled.

@Ryoucchi same here just need a spoiler button.

@RobotMonkeyHead: I'm sorry the new task bar didn't work out well, I hope your not bummed out or anything like that. :(

I know you had good intentions, and as the new Admin, I have no doubt that your only going to get better. :)

Ok, great, it's definitely one of the apps or plugins then.
I'm going to try enabling all the apps and leaving the plugins off.

Can you try editing it now?

@White Ranger thanks bud.  We're going to narrow it down now, it's either one of the applications or plugins.  Just going to see which now by disabling plugins, leaving apps on and seeing if it's possible to edit.

@RobotMonkeyHæd I just tried correcting some typos in Kyo Edits Collection, and I got the 405 error, however just a moment ago before your last post on this thread I also corrected other typos and I was able to edit it without a problem. Also the options I get when double clicking an image only gives me options to adjust its size, no place to add a download link though. :/

@RobotMonkeyHæd I can now edit the collections, however I'm still not able to add a link to images, as when I double click it I get options to change the size of the GIF. However, I can start adding links to the character names instead of images. Other then that everything is looking very good.

Think I might have the culprit nailed down.

What was it, out of interest? I hope it wasn't the source editor :c

It was the SSL Image Proxy application.  I either did not have the requirements met that I thought I did, or it's not supported by our current IPB build.  It wasn't the editor (this time) or the plugins (yet, lol), just that one app, and it's pretty easy to see why now.

Here's the apps description from the website:

About This File

This application makes it easier to run your site as full https and helps solve the problem of user posted http images. Displaying http images on a https page causes mixed content browser warnings and is a common reason why forums can't easily run as full https.

When a user posts a link to an external image the application does the following:

- Checks if the user is posting a http url. If so it checks if there is a https version available (most popular image sharing sites have https support). If a https version is available then the image is simply rewritten to use the https version. This results in no proxy being used at all and many people could run this plugin in that mode completely if they didn't want to use the proxy component. This is the option that the IPS solution really misses.

- (Optional) If there is no https version available then the image is rewritten to point at a local script. This script gets the image in the background and serves it via https thus removing any mixed content warnings.

reading that description.

you should have known this but we are NOT HTTPS ( Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) HTTPS is a secure connection with a higher encryption set, mostly used by big name companies such Chase, JC Penny, and many other outlet websites. It's really to protect users when using credit cards online.

So that app is useless. Also we've never had issues with images on the site other than people posting a link bad, but even that takes effort to do.

The auto embed system works amazingly well.

- Characters -  / - Stages - / - Screenpacks - / - Lifebars - / - Fonts - / - Full Games - / - Templates -

What's more, in order to use the HTTPS protocol, an SSL must be purchased and installed on the server. It's just more expenses even if you wanted to go down that route, which would be completely unnecessary.

Sorry, I should've caught that.  I got that plugin thinking it might add an extra layer of security to the imgur button, without considering the fact that we would actually need to have SSL ourselves for it to matter anyway.

@White Ranger would you mind giving it a shot now and seeing if it now and seeing if it works for you?

After a solid afternoon of rehashing, rebuilding and trimming the toolbar, it looks like the image linking issue should be resolved.  Thank you guys for bearing with me through the rebuild process.  I wanted to get it done asap, so people could carry on with their work.  Normally I do this shit in the early AM.

The problem:  A combination of extra embedding support plugins and a certain Link plugin (which had some really nice features).
Eventual Solution: Removed almost all extra embedding support.  We run exclusively on auto-embedding along with the default link button and image panel.  This allows the built in auto embedding to distinguish between links and linked images without influence.

@White Ranger & @Ryoucchi is everything working ok for you guys now?
