I reckon it because he took the sprite from the obsecure GBA game, that ultra keibitai one.

 

The actual game is strategic chess-thing so it doesn't really have much movement and attack to begin with

The author is a friend of mine, but he was the first to make it.  

Seeing my activities, he took on the challenge of creating characters, so let's watch over him warmly.
