Oh phew. I thought for a minute there this was about the sequel(s) to X and Y :P I've seen nuzlocke and randomiser videos on YouTube where the player's model has changed and various events have changed, so I'm not surprised this happened.

The reason Ice Climbers were high-tier in Melee and Brawl was because of chain grabbing, something that is actually impossible in Smash 4 because of the imposed time limit before being able to grab the same opponent again. Having them lower-poly than the rest of the cast will absolutely not make them stick out like a sore thumb :U

Bosses are in general. It was a thing in Brawl where Charizard was the best choice for Boss Battle mode. Shadow Beast gets rekt by Ness' PK Fire.

Turning things to stone does sound like Yveltal's shtick, what with everyone's favourite bacon bird being associated with death and all that. The Giratina shadow at the end of the trailer is worth noting though.

Thing is, if I do the personality quiz properly, I'll get Cyndaquil anyway (assuming they're all the same natures as last time) :P

Customs are what most people suggest, typically custom Ganondorf because power.

Interesting to see the legendaries not speaking in full caps this time :P Also worth noting that they've combined the character selection processes from the original entries and Gates to Infinity, in that you can either do the personality quiz, or select you and your partner manually.

I can't believe people are saying the graphics look low-end. Have they ever heard of stylised graphics?

If one were to assume it's the same as the previous entries (excluding Gates to Infinity), then yes, the Pokémon you play as is based on the resulting personality (or 'nature') from the quiz. Male and female Pokémon had different natures, so Timid gave you Cyndaquil if you're male, but Turtwig if you're female. The nature had no effect on stats, however.

I hope the natures are still the same from the previous entries. Timid for Cyndaquil and Impish for Piplup.

So according to the Japanese site for the game, the personality quiz returns, though this time, your partner is also decided by a quiz.
