HD Raven from Teen Titans

I finally joined this site hurray! But at the encouragement of other mugen fans out there i decided to spread my content to other sites. So this is the 2nd of the three characters I made already. As usual I made the sprites from scratch.

Testing her on Watch Mode and after a few matches suddenly I got this piece of gold. OK no, but I sweard this was funny at that time.

this feels like a good start for a character just from the video I can already see a few things that could be improved.

 

She could use some more frames on her movements its extremely stiff currently, you could use some Pal FX on the black aura hits.

 

imo the bus super is not very good and should be replaced with something else maybe a grab super with her aura grabbing them?

 

she could use an ultimate, could use the thing that was used against Dr. Light at the start when trigon was starting to take over.

 

The sounds for the energy attacks could use more variation I may be able to help with that if you would like.

 

Same with her voice clips I can probably help with that as well.

 

the giant bird super could hit multiple times and have some different sounds on than it does currently.

 

Personal preference but I HATE Mugen's default effects and sounds so some different super sparks and sounds would be lovely.

 

Overall I will say I am happy someone did a full size Raven and its a very nice start but could use some polish and changes in areas if you are up to them. If you would like my help with the stuff I mentioned please do let me know and I will see what I can do.

yea that happened to me once during testing. Unfortunately I can't trigger the glitch deliberately, it just happens randomly. So I've no way to edit it and see if it stops doing it, since it's a rare occurrence haha.

 Thanks for your feedback and your offering to help. With all due respect, I have checked your bio and according to that I don't think you're as experienced enough with code or sfx as I am. Secondly I plan to update Raven, as well as my other characters, once I have finished my current character project, so it will be updated probably sometime next month (I need to do some fixes for Auron as well). However, the bus... STAYS lol. I love that move it's hilarious, and she did drop a bus on Terra.

 

 I didn't include certain moves for Raven like the Dr.Light tentacle grab move, because I'm an extremist when it comes to staying true to a character. The entire point of Raven is that she must control her powers. That's why I never made a hyper of Trigon coming out and wrecking everything. Even though she does that every now and then in the show, she had her friends to bail her out, which can't really happen during a mugen fight, every single time. It just wouldn't make sense to have. And I feel that her evil tentacle grab is in that same category. I thank you for your feedback as I truly do appreciate any constructive criticism, since it's much more helpful than praise (although I'm immensely honored to receive praise for my work too). Again, I say this with all due respect, and thank you for your interest.

You are incorrect about me not being experienced in SFX at the very least my dude, I have done many things that are not posted here but I was credited for. I don't wanna be rude here but you used voice and sounds FROM THE SHOW I can give you actual rips of her audio from games and MUCH cleaner than these.

 

I obviously cannot force you to do anything or even accept my help.

 

it is your choice to accept my feedback or not but do not I repeat do not tell me I am unqualified at something I very much am.

 

rather than judge people based on BIO profiles you should probably ask for examples of work because I don't put anything on there as I do not care about it.

 

EDIT: adding a voice clip I ripped that I was going to add to your char for you as an example ripped from the game Raven is in. I could offer the same Help for Auron btw I saw that video as well and I know you could use better quality voice rips and audio.

If you know what you're doing id maybe update your bio because i dont know many people or their reps on this site. I know you said you won't post here anymore but I just wanted to clarify I am not a child nor would I take credit for work I did not do. I just wanted to help you improve in areas that is literally all. You calling me out on not being qualified too is what made me upset. I have no idea why you thought I was going to steal your credit because that is not me. I wanted to assist in a way I know I can.

 

My Youtube profile also has a lot of stuff removed because I wasn't happy with most of the videos.  I have helped various people with alternative sound packs I just don't document it because that's just it I do the opposite of what you said I help because I want to help not because I want to steal credit. All I require is to be credited for the part I did. I feel this conversation went an entirely different direction than I was intending but you really should let someone assist or at the least ask for samples then decide if what they did was good or not.

Laharl literally said he only wanted to help with the sounds, and all he wanted was credit for the sounds, he had no intention on stealing your credit, or claiming all the work for his own, but instead you twist it to where Laharl is a "screaming child that's never made a full sized, decent character" This really is a godawful introduction to us, since it's the first few posts you've made on this site.

Regardless if Pulloff has had a bad attitude or not I think I know how he was feeling. I mean he  posted his brand new creation ans it's obvious he was feeling so proud of his Raven and suddenly one unknown dude comes and  tells you that your job could have a lot of supposed improvements It feels like hard work is demeaned to some extent. I already know to Pulloff from other forum and  for sure I can say he is a good guy and his creations deserve respect. Laharl showed respect for his Raven but then they were all that advices they almost felt like a "your character is mediocre" All right! he got angry and called  Laharl a screaming child. But everybody says wrong things on that state. I ask for respect for everyone, from here to there and from there to here.

He had a whole day to apologize and respectfully listen to Laharl's feedback, but he continued going with his egotistical, passive-aggressive replies, if he wants respect, he needs to EARN it.

 

If he's going to make backhanded replies like these, he's not going to get what you want from us. Laharl was literally offering help, and just got these aggressive replies, I don't care if you know him, that's still being an absolute douchebag.

Mate, how about you drop this "shining knight" gimmick? His post was the equivalent of a crying child taking his toys and leaving because he was losing.

 

Only thing Laharl offered was cleaner sound rips, that's all. Even the most experienced authors don't mind help every now and then.

 

I have yet to see any reason to give respect here. The fact that he's saying that offering help is just a ploy to steal half credit already says plenty to me.

 

And his character IS mediocre.

After what seems like years but apparently it was only 1 year of this topic following me around, avoiding the drama, I finally came back and read what was said after I left. I want to clear the air for everyone. If you want to offer me constructive criticism and feedback on my character, you can reach me on my Discord, my Youtube page, and nearly any other site except for this one. Laharl has edited about 95% of the things (s)he originally posted, after I left this site. I was then harassed on my youtube page either by him/her or friends of his/hers on the same day after I left. Laharl couldn't handle rejection and if you look at my first reply to him or her, you'll see that nothing I said was defensive or offensive. I only got a bit snarky with Laharl after (s)he lashed out to me in return, before (s)he edited the original response so that it appears innocent. I'm not pissed that my character was criticized. But I'm angry with how I've been portrayed during my absence, and the contrasted edit of Laharl's. Laharl originally said that I should have not rejected outright but asked to see his or her portfolio, even though the bio used to say there was no experience to be had. And if you read it, you'll see I did everything I could to AVOID a confrontation. It's still right there on that first post, unedited. Just read it yourself.

 

Despite the baseless accusations on this thread, I don't demand respect from any of you, nor am I a victim defending my beloved creation or anything of the sort. I posted it on here because it's a mugen site and I wanted my character available to anyone interested in playing with her. Anytime I say Laharl's name, the first thing I hear is, "oh... not this ******* guy again," and I'm like, "what? what do you mean?" The reputation this individual has earned isn't exactly sparkles. I have received my share of feedback outside of this website, and I learned from it, and there wasn't any fuss at all. I was thankful if anything. I might not agree with everything you have to say, and I might not change certain things. That doesn't mean we're enemies. But I am the one who's doing the work, so in the end it's my call. If that's too much for a person to handle, it's not a fault of mine to improve on.

 

I don't want to bounce back and forth on a inevitable never ending argument on here, and I might get banned for defending my name entirely. That's fine, since I don't plan on returning again, at least for another few years, if ever. I want to talk to YOU. Whoever is reading this, and sees something with my character they think needs improving. No drama, no speculation. If you want to form an opinion of me, do it from first-hand experience. Dunno when you will read this but I just wanted to clarify something. I never sent anyone after you I do not do that. Anyone attacking you is doing it of their own free will. Interesting you bring up my reputation as I was a lot younger and immature assuming you are talking about my past posts lol. I have changed immensely. The edit that was done was due to my original wording not being how I wanted to be taken (after it was pointed out to me by some close friends) not to make you look worse. So I do apologize for the result of that.

 

I do think in general you should let someone help with something and THEN tell them you don't like it for the future. Assuming because they do not advertise what they do they are not good at it is kinda silly. I help with sound because I want to and ppl knowing I helped is cool too but I don't make a huge thing about it. Just one simple credit for the one thing I did. In your case I was going to rip Raven's voice lines from the various video games she has been in without background noise.

 

I wish you no actual ill will and my original offer was legit just to help I had no intention of taking anyone's credit for anything I did not do, all I wanted credit for was the thing I DID do. I saw potential and wanted to offer to make it a whole lot better with my feedback, along with my own thing I could actually do to assist. I may not expect much from you char wise now but let me be clear here. 

 

Our original interaction was because I got a bit offended you assumed I was trying to claim credit off of you for things I didn't do when as explained earlier just wanted to help with one thing that I knew I could actually do pretty damn well.
