Doing hi-res sprites must be very hard when not using Blender and its pixel-shader, so you get my respect. There is such a traditional practices still in Japan and it's inspired by that. And it's not Nine tail fox (four tails!). Nine tail fox is well known as frightening specter. However, there is other tales about foxes with multiple tails, children born between fox and human...toooo many tales about foxes in japan! so many characters often born from these tales.
