  1. Smogon's February useage statistics won't be up until Wednesday, but Pokemon Online has already completed theirs and has already implemented the following:

    • Keldeo, Latias, Sylveon, and Chansey are now OU
    • Breloom, Speed Deoxys, Galvantula, Smeargle, Goodra, and Trevenant are now UU

Doesn't necessarily mean Smogon's tiers will follow the same (especially considering Sylveon was already OU last time I checked), but should be an indicator of what to expect...

Though I'm disappointed that phantom tree got pushed down :(

  2. Its also a valid infinite blockstring due to his standing MP being +8 on both hit and block while his jab only has 5 frame startup. The massive range doesn't help matters, either.

Also his LK has a tendency to become unblockable when used at point blank due to having 0 frame startup (not to mention 0 recovery frames as well but thats a separate issue).

Standing HP also has the same 0 frame startup & recovery issue as LP does.

Might want to address the stickman required sprites, and the fact that pretty much all of his normals are extremely safe, especially considering the ones that hit midscreen.

  4. Baton Pass teams are a rare occurence in competitive play nowadays and even if they were, Scizor functions fine without it.

Also because over 50% of everything is gonna take 25% minimum from Stealth Rock, I'm also expecting a lot of Forretress and Armaldo use.

And Vivillon looks promising as well...

On a side note, I'm curious to post this over at guild as well, since I'm noticing a lot of players there as well.

EDIT: Because I forgot to, I added a Self-KO clause in the first post to prevent any sudden death shenanigans.

  5. Figured this should go in its own separate topic from the main Pokemon thread.

After some deliberation with a few others, I finally decided to organize a tournament here on MFFA for people to sign up. Right now we're aiming for about 8 people, but will expand to 12 or 16 if necessary.

    General Rules

    • All eligible Pokemon must be Bug-type, or have a Bug-type in their evolutionary family tree.
    • All Battles will be done as 6vs6 Single battles. Participants will be required to post battle videos as proof of their victories/losses.
    • Single Elimination style: if you lose, you cannot progress to the next round of the tournament
    • Item Clause: OFF (you may use any number of the same item).
    • Species Clause: ON (You cannot use two of the same species).
    • Sleep Clause: ON (only one Pokemon may be put to sleep at any given time. This does not include sleep induced by the move Rest)
    • Evasion Clause: The moves Double Team and Minimize cannot be used.
    • OHKO Clause: The moves Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill, and Sheer Cold cannot be used.
    • Self-KO Clause: In the event of a tie caused by the use of Selfdestruct, Explosion, Destiny Bond, Perish Song, Memento, Final Gambit, or any similar suicidal move, the user of these moves will be considered to have lost the match. Self-KOs caused by recoil moves and Life Orb also fall under this category.
    • Genesect and Arceus are banned.
    • 7/24/14 UPDATE: Pokemon Showdown may now be used as a substitute for the 3DS games, which can be found Here

  6. The way I did it in that Yukari was outdated, heres a more refined version:

You'll want 3 states: A beginning state, the actual state, and the armor gethit state.

Beginning State: basically you define the animation and anything you want to happen before the armor takes effect, such as powergains in the statedef. For the most part, this will be an empty state aside from a single controller that immediately puts you into...

Actual state: Basically code this as you would any other attacking state. The only difference here is you dont define anything in the statedef aside from movehitpersist =1. Here is where you put the hitoverride for your armor gethit state. Additionally, you must use animelemtime triggers instead of time triggers or else you'll get improper false positives in your state controllers that use them whenever you come back from the armor state.

Armor Gethit: should be rather self-explanitory. Make sure to have it send your character to their regular gethit state if theyre no longer alive. This state should include a copy of the hitoverride from the Actual State, as well as a changestate back to the Actual State once the hitshaketime is over. As is the case with the actual state, make sure movehitpersist is set to 1 and dont define any animations in the statedef. Also make sure to simulate the animation freeze using the changeanim controller by setting it to the current animation element for the duration of the state.

  7. He's the one that calling you a scrub when he said that Megakhan and Megaluc should be unbanned because there's options that doesn't immediately die when brought up? That's sort of contradictory lol.

He also called us scrubs for using 252/252 EV spreads on certain Pokemon, which is lol.

  8. So me, Xan, The Answer and _DataDrain_ from guild all had a rather "interesting" conversation in Skype last night about this video and

where, tl;dr, the guy argues that Smogon had no clue what they were doing when they decided to ban Mega Lucario last week. He then goes on to argue about nonsensical things such as how Slurpuff is a solid counter to MegaKangaskhan, despite being 2HKOed by Return, and that MegaKangaskhan should be unbanned on those grounds.

Then a 3rd party intervenes and calls us all scrubs for not using Protect and/or Bulky Greninja to counter Mega Lucario, in spite of me posting damage calculations to prove him wrong (in his defense, a Life Orb Hydro Pump requires a minimum of 128 Sp.Atk EVs to OHKO, while max Sp.Atk investment is still only a 68.8% chance, while Greninja always dies from Life Orb recoil if +2 Extremespeed fails to OHKO, but that only makes him a shaky counter at best, which is not what he was claiming at all).

  9. so, why now did game freak decide to be the asshole and make it so we can't get our previous gen pokemon an easier way?

    Because

    • They encountered technical limitations that prevented them from using direct DS to 3DS communications
    • Nintendo's financial situation is in deep shit, so they need all the pocket money for sports energy drinks or whatever that they can get
