Small viability ranking update. Additions: (Poison): Added to B Provides a check to Mega Mawile, Azumarill, and Arceus-Fairy, and can run coverage moves to take care of other high ranking threats such as the Landorus formes, Arceus-Dragon and Arceus-Steel, and Mega Scizor. Nice defensive utility and immune to Toxic Spikes, so it can remove hazards with ease. (Ice): Added to C Is able to check Reshiram and Palkia, 2HKOing the former with Judgement [Ice] after Stealth Rock damage and also checks both Landorus formes, outspeeding both of them so long as they don't run Rock Polish. Obviously needs assistance especially with that Stealth Rock weakness and poor defensive typing. Rises: : A+ -> S A threatening wallbreaker in its own right, and becomes scary versus offense when running Rock Polish. I felt that it fit the criteria for S moreso than A+, but of course the Arceus formes could spell trouble for it, but the power of Sheer Force + Life Orb should not be underestimated. : A -> A+ Half the time I find myself using this over the Defense forme purely due to its massive speed and mixed attacking potential. Either way you look at it, Deoxys-N should be at least one (sub)rank above Greninja, so it was either this thing rises or Greninja drops. Drops: : B -> C Its fodder for Mega Mawile and Deoxys-N, and hard walled by Arceus-Steel and Arceus-Poison. Its also harder to keep switching in when its weak to Stealth Rock, and the turn it Mega Evolves just gives the opponent a free turn since it has to use Protect or risk being KOed. Still handy for its speed, but Deoxys-N just gives it problems. : C -> D I don't really see a use for this other than its Dragon Dance sets, which Mega Charizard X does better. I'm tempted to unrank it entirely unless someone can provide a replay showing its effectiveness. Removals: None

Viability ranking update. This time around the A rank will now be split into A and A+. Additions: (Dragon): Added to A+ See last post for reasoning. Its a threatening Swords Dance sweeper but has to fit all of the moves that it wants into three moveslots, which is tough. (Fairy): Added to A Basically Mega Altaria 2.0, it checks Arceus-Dragon and Palkia quite nicely, being able to outspeed the latter while burning the former. It may not have the Water and Fire resists of Mega Altaria, but Mega Altaria was never a spectacular check to Palkia and Reshiram anyway, especially when they can still 2HKO with Choice Specs. (Steel): Added to A See above post. I'm not convinced that its A+ material just yet. A should be fine for now. : Added to C Soft checks Mega Mawile and Mega Charizard X and can tank a hit from Arceus-Dragon, but can't really do much to the latter otherwise. Mega Mawile can also OHKO after a Swords Dance. Aside from that, it's a decent Stealth Rock setter, but I can't really find a use for Hippowdon aside from providing sand for Excadrill. It seems to fit C at the moment, but could potentially rise to B. Rises: : A -> A+ The ability to hard check Palkia and soft check Arceus-Dragon is always invaluable, it more or less combines the raw power of Mega Mawile with that of a bulky water type. I feel its above the level of the other A rank Pokemon at the moment. : A -> A+ Landorus-I is a threatening Pokemon in its own right, able to wallbreak with its 101 base speed, and access to Rock Polish makes it a terrifying cleaner. Definately a cut above the rest of the A rank Pokemon. : C -> B Definitely a more useful spinner than Mega Blastoise, given its ability to clean teams with Sand Rush. Hippowdon isn't too bad either. Drops: : S -> A+ Reshiram's base 90 speed really lets it down sometimes. With the Arceus formes now on the loose, it struggles to keep up the pace as a wallbreaker, especially when Palkia can do the same while speed tying with other base 100 speed Pokemon. : A -> C More or less outclassed by Arceus-Fairy, who sports higher speed and better overall bulk. May end up unranking entirely, but it does have useful resistances that Arceus-Fairy doesn't have. : B -> C See above post. Defog Arceus formes give it too much competition, and has too much opportunity cost compare to the other, more useful Megas. Removals: : Removed from D There's really no reason to use this over Deoxys-N. If this thing ever does come back onto the rankings, it should be because of Trace and nothing else, but someone is going to have to convince me that Mega Alakazam has some kind of worthwhile niche that Deoxys-N doesn't have because as of right now, it doesn't. At this point I want to focus discussion on Pokemon currently in the B rank. If you have any Pokemon nominations that you feel fit the B rank criteria, feel free to post it.

Its time for another CotM. This time around, since the last two CotM saw very little candidates, we're lowering the nomination requirement from 4 nominations to 3. This also applies to the repeal process as well. Nominations & Voting Rules You may nominate up to 4 characters per month. You may only nominate a character that was released and/or updated during the given month. You cannot nominate characters that have previously won Gold or Silver in any previous Character of the Month. Be specific as to which character you are nominating; include both the name and the author name and, if applicable, the release thread of the character. To make things easier, we suggest that you append the number of nominations that the character has, including your own, when you make your nominations. Characters that have been nominated by at least 3 different people will become candidates for voting. Candidates for voting cannot be nominated any more (as there is no real purpose to this) Voting begins 15 days after the nomination period began, or once 20 characters have been nominated as candidates. The voting period lasts for 15 days. The winner will be announced at the end of this period. During this time, you will be permitted to vote for one character for CotM. So please choose wisely You may choose to nominate a candidacy rejection. Candidacy rejections can only be done on characters that have obtained at least 3 nominations for CotM. When nominating a candidacy rejection, you MUST list the reason(s) why you believe that the character should not be in the list of candidates. Note that if we, the staff of MFFA, feel that your reason for candidacy rejection is not adequate enough, we have the right to reject your nomination for candidacy rejection. At least three (3) valid nominations for candidacy rejection are required for a character to be removed from the list of candidates.
