  1. Calm down my MFFA pals. Since this is a topic I started, I am taking a responsibility to make it.....peaceful. @Darkflare: >> Come on, Wood. Don't start with this, especially since that's often misinterpreted as only give Nice Char +1 I didn't mention any "Nice Char +1" is a must; rather, I just want every MFFA reviewer not to piss the reviewed off on purpose. You see I also pointed out some "Room for update" right? In my text I didn't use strong words like "your car sucks dinosaur toes because it can throw two(2) ninja-stars in a row.", "can I unsee your car when I saw some MUGEN debug flood?", "hey stop your MUGEN'ing now!",....etc. You know what? Use of respectful and insulting text can kill the world. I didn't say you can't criticize, but when you criticize, please use the least insulting language. There is also "Sucky Char +1" as opposed to "Nice Char +1" and you can see the difference. >> You're basically saying that it's ok to shoot for mediocrity because someone else can make it better for you. That's not how it works and you definitely won't get far in life with that mentality. It's rather lucky that duck@ass even bothered to edit it. Sorry but I can't help it. It is because I am the same type as chuchoryu. I also want MUGEN Pro's to be willing to fix my MUGEN stuff. I asked for it when I was still in MFG/MI, and you might have had already known my result if you came across with my drama over there. >> And you should really go into more detail on your review, it's too barebones as is. All I got was Ryu is fast and has his Ninja Gaiden moves, without proper explanation on how each move works and the most effective way to use them....or even if the move is balanced or has some glaring flaw. Hey I already mentioned it was my first time reviewing a MUGEN content. I have no such experience before. More importantly, if I had to do my first review that deep.....deep enough that I had to list out every bit of findings with reference to all MUGEN code-wise sctrls, triggers logic and redirections, CNS structure coherency, values assignments conflicts, maths. used (I am bad at maths.)...............then I am sure it would be a very lengthly boring MUGEN review to most MFFA non-MUGEN creators/authors. That was why at the end of my "Room for update" I mentioned "* I don't include MUGNE code-related feedback (i.e. Clsn boxes, animations, HitDef values, custom states) here.......". Everybody else can include as much MUGEN code-related text as they want though. I opened this topic not only for me to post MUGEN review; rather, I hope it can encourage other MFFA'ers to give useful, not insulting MUGEN reviews. And didn't you see my sentence in my previous post => "I am sure there are many good reviewers/feedback givers who can/must do 120x better job than my mere first trail." That implies/refers to some expert MUGEN reviewers/feedback givers like you and the old CAN. @Darkflare & Legendary DeMoNkAi >> Excuse me but I am not quite familiar with the affair between you two........but the quarrel like that above is one of the things that I don't want to see...........MFFA is a peaceful MUGEN community............. Last but not least, Legendary DeMoNkAi, don't put such high hope in me, as I am not a good MUGEN author. I am at most a good copy-&-past'er. If I were a good MUGEN author, then I wouldn't have had ended up with a MFG/MI/IMT refugee.
  2. Wholly Molly! Is yours the first ever announced Skull Girls MUGEN character WIP? I can't wait to see your final MUGEN product! Let me share with you a tip - when you are going to release your version: there are some online MUGEN forums (hope not our peaceful MFFA) in which if they found your me-first wanna-be MUGEN release NOT PERFECT, then you and your pioneer MUGEN attempt will be doomed..........I mean extremely very DOOMED in an out-of-your-imagination manner! Good luck.
  3. I forgot how many times I have had been white-knighting and defending chuchoryu (and Speedy9199 as well as myself) back in MFG/MI...........*sigh*.................
  4. Thank you for your tip!

  6. Thank you for your advice. I will look into this issue later soon.

  8. Wooooooooooow~ Ryon you are fast! Now a MUGEN "Author" title (all grey colors in my eyes, but oh well, still awesome) is more appropriate for me!
  9. Well, that was my first time reviewing others' MUGEN works. There was probably much of my subjective point of view in that, and I am not sure whether I covered things enough about the reviewed. You know first-time thing is always some kind of experiment. So, generally speaking, I opened this topic just to hope it might encourage other MFFA'ers to openly review other people's MUGEN works. I am sure there are many good reviewers/feedback givers who can/must do 120x better job than my mere first trail. You are encouraged to make your MUGEN review here too. Actually even you can review others' reviews too. Oh, I already mentioned in my first post that, not just MUGEN characters, also all other MUGEN contents shall be good to be reviewed too.
  10. I use Fraps to record my MUGEN1.0 videos. My MUGEN1.0 mugen.cfg setting: ;The video resolution defaults to the same as the game resolution. ;You can force an alternate resolution by uncommenting the lines ;below. ;Width = 1280 ;Height = 720 ;This is the color depth at which to run MUGEN. ;Only 16 is supported at this time. Depth = 16 ;Set to 1 to enable vertical retrace synchronization. Do not enable ;if BlitMode = PageFlip. ;Not supported in 1.0. VRetrace = 0 ;Set to 1 to enable fullscreen mode, 0 for windowed. FullScreen = 0 ;Drawing mode ;Choose from Normal (fast) and PageFlip (less image "tearing") BlitMode = PageFlip;Normal ;Screen rendering mode. ;System - default SDL rendering mode (e.g. windib in Windows) ;DirectX - DirectX 5 renderer ;OpenGLScreen - hack that allows window resizing but could be slow RenderMode = OpenGLScreen;System
  11. What a classic!
  12. MUGEN Review/Evaluation MFFA Style Any MUGEN content, be it motif/screenpack/stage/lifebar/character/font/palette! Only one note: please treat everybody and his/her/its MUGEN works with respect. Just a very simple note! MFFA'ers can surely do it! Thank you! ------------------------------------------ My first MUGEN review/evaluation is: Ryu Hayabusa NES 0.50 by chuchoryu, sprites by G.M.Spectre, edited by Duck@ss Download can be found at Duck@ss' MUGEN web site: http://www.geocities.ws/duckss/files/duck8.htm 1) Introduction 2) About the Ryu Hayabusa NES MUGEN character 3) MUGEN raw materials 4) MUGEN gameplay 5) Room for update 6) Conclusion
  13. Not really related to real Nintendo consoles and games, these are life-size soap replicas of classic SNES games, shown in the photograph above. "Mom, tonight I want to use Super Mario Kart when I am bathing!" More information here: http://www.firebox.com/product/6196/Super-Nintendo-Gamer-Soap-Cartridges P.S. the topic poster is not in any way affiliated with the mentioned product provider
  14. I am not saying we use some MFFA promotion to steal MFG members. I mean, we can use other means/media/medium to let more new MUGEN users all over world, know about MFFA and hope it might attract them to join MFFA. That was why I suggested something like a Linkedin and a newsletter and even a RSS additions. The MUGEN user base I really to steal is, not any MFG members, but the Japanese MUGEN group. All the Japanese MUGEN fans know of is MFG, if they use nicovideo as much as the Western people use YouTube, then there is a chance for us to promote MFFA at nicovideo, in hope of at least introducing MFFA to the Japanese MUGEN group As you might have noticed, Japanese MUGEN group is just second to the Western group. My race, the Chinese MUGEN group, is going downhill fast day by day.....................some days it might become the Korean MUGEN group, which has already been gone for long.
  15. I am a MFG/MI/IMT refugee, so I understand what you mean sir toast. However, about your statement, "they (MFG) have more people constantly releasing new, regular content over there", I have something to say. It is not deniable that there are many high-reputational MUGEN Pro's and MUGEN dudes at MFG and most of them can make and release top-notch MUGEN contents. Yet, some of them seem to look down on people who have less MUGEN skills. And, too many small circles have been formed to support one another, for example, some mods/admins are in favor of certain MUGEN Pro's and let those MUGEN Pro's do whatever they like (i.e. e-bullying, e-haunting, e-insulting,..etc.). Just like a bad breakfast, everyday you log in you just see all those blind bashings and attacks against you. It doesn't matter whether you do release regularly or occasionally, you will later or sooner get banned by defending yourself or white-knighting other victims. Oh by they way, MFG MUGEN Pro's and MUGEN dudes hate regular new MUGEN releases by any individual very much! They insist that every MUGEN release must be done and released within no less than a year and even more. I mean, they don't appreciate fast while playable MUGEN releases. Thus, your statement seems a bit....wrong to me. >> Releasing otherwise impossible to find creations is sure to boost our popularity. Wholly Molly this is exactly what I am doing in MFFA. I hope my half-assed but unique MUGEN stuff can be of any help on boosting MFFA's popularity. Even in my latest MUGEN release I tried to promote MFFA's Sharing-is-Caring theme and its peaceful atmosphere and nicer environment. Therefore, I think before we plan on a working MFFA promotion proposal, we have to keep MFFA peaceful at our best. It will be a great tragedy to see if ever MFFA being turned into the next MFG/MI/IMT.
  16. If your MUGEN life is over 8 years now then you should have known about and heard of what kind of MUGEN roads ZombieBrock VIP and GohanSSM2 Elder have had been walking on in all those/these MUGEN years. I am also 9-MUGEN-year-old but when my MUGEN life is to be compared with ZombieBrock's VIP and GohanSSM2's Elder, I am just a small potato.
  17. Do you mean MFFA has not enough new comers for you to greet? Then please help think of some way to promote MFFA more.............
  18. Being an active MUGEN Elder.........it only means...........after all those years of MUGEN'ing and all those good/bad MUGEN'ing experiences.........you/he/she/it/I still stand(s)............which is something $$$ can't buy. Once again, I bow to ZombieBrock VIP and GohanSSM2 Elder with my deep respect.
  19. Thanks for your sharing but..............the dreadful HTTP error occurs: 403 - Forbidden i.e. your http://s25.postimg.org/blbn577kb/Yoka.png
  20. You have good reasoning than I do. I do admit your reasoning. Regardless my above example of "selfish MUGEN Pro's, you tricked me!", what do you think about the following situation?: - "Okay you told me what I did wrong, now I am willing to correct that and make a patch for you, please download it so you can see all the corrections I made according to your advices. Actually when people tell me to fix I will try my best to fix for them. Just look at my release history posts" - "No I am not going to download your patch. I want you to stop MUGEN'ing." So, if you don't call that a "selfish deed", then I have nothing say more. >> Custom for an original gameplay or merged from different games, Styled for some character that has a gameplay that comes >> from a game or, given these days, character maker. Inaccurate for a char that fails to be faithful to a game system it's trying ro >> recreate or be styled on. "Custom"/"Styled"/"Inaccurate" three(3) labels! Man........too many.........I have to think of a word that can describe all three(3)..........I used "Boring" before but boss Ryon and Laharl asked me to change that........... >> .....overloaded system mechanics.........clusterfuck........gimmicky.........only to impress, not for gameplay purposes I heard of these statements before, but no one seemed to use the words more straight-forward than you did! Yours are just like a ......... sharp needle .......... ouch! Very good lesson-learning material and session about this issue here...........
  21. Good MUGEN stuff needs more replies! Cool concept and cool execution by our cool Mr. Duck@ss! My feedback: As seen in the above MUGEN screenshot, when P2 is close to Speed Shadow, Speed Shadow's Hadou Upper seems to miss P2. As seen in the above MUGEN screenshot, when Speed Shadow is doing Hadou Decoy, the decoy Helper when not attacking (waiting for P2's attacks state), it could make P2 not enter a guard state. My small suggestion: change to movetype = A to movetype = I in [statedef 1215] ; Shadow Colapse Bring us more of your cool releases!
  22. Well, Daniel, you made some good points. So, by your counter-examples do you agree source game accuracy in MUGEN is the most important thing when a MUGEN product is made from an existing video game right? Any subtle inaccuracy like "can crouch while running" is absolutely unacceptable? >> Also what do you mean by selfish MUGEN Pro's? This is what I call selfish: - "Oh I want to use XXX from FTG2 in my MUGEN to fight YYY from FTG1. But XXX hasn't been mugenzied yet. What shall I do? I can't wait any longer!" - "Well, make a request thread, or better, DIY." - "DIY? It looks like a tough job for me!" - "I know FTG2 very well. But I won't tell you how to mugenize XXX. I also won't mugenize XXX and let people enjoy that." - "Alright, I DIY'ed XXX and I want to share it with people." - "Hey, you just ruined XXX. Stop your MUGEN'ing now!" - "Sh!t! You told me to DIY and you were not giving any help, and now I mugenized XXX you ask me to stop!? Now can you mugenize a proper XXX please? Or at least improve my version?" - "No, ha ha. Enjoy my e-bashing and e-haunting by the very me and my Pro's fellows from now on XD. It's really funny to see you fall into this heh heh....." So, do you mean a "Custom" label should be corrected to a "Inaccurate" label to make it clearer right? Or can you suggest a more suitable label for describing something both "Custom/Styled" and "Inaccurate" please?
  23. Okay! Let me define my meaning of "custom". Most of the time, in my own MUGEN dictionary, "Custom" means "Inaccurate". "Custom" not only means adding some non-existing features, but also more importantly the "source game mechanism", not just the feel. For example, A real SF3.3 Ryu can jump [this] high and back-dash [this] far, while a MUGEN SF3.3 Ryu jumps higher and back-dash shorter. A real SF3.3 Ryu can air-juggle P2 [this number of times] with his light Shoryuken, while a MUGEN SF3.3 Ryu does a few more air-juggle with the same special move. A real SF3.3 Ryu's strong Hadouken has hit box of [this size], while a MUGEN SF3.3 Ryu has a smaller hit box size. A real SF3.3 Ryu can enter a dizzy state after [this number of get-hits], while a MUGEN SF3.3 Ryu never gets dizzy at all. And, that ridiculous "can crouch while running" accuse! These "source game MUGEN inaccuracy" things are the ones I refer to "Custom". Feels should only include such source game MUGEN accuracy, not the added non-existing features. A proton cannon addition has nothing to do with the source game feel because it is not available in the source game. It seems to me that, to those selfish MUGEN Pro's and dudes, when they see any of the above "Custom" MUGEN works, they just freak out like no tomorrow. Then all kinds of e-bullying and e-haunting happen -- the results are: many flame wars and rage-quits and bannings.
  24. Well, actually in the bottom of my heart, I also consider this idea is .......... very hard and strange........ never mind......perhaps I am the only MUGEN dude who could come up with this kind of peculiar idea............
  25. Hmmmmmmmm.........this is roughly what is in my thinking, about a MFFA promotion (possible or not?) Like, for now, only a MFFA Facebook is used for some social network purpose. I am thinking whether there can be some more things we can do to promote MFFA to a greater extent or not. For example, add a Linkedin? And, we all know YouTube is very powerful so can we have a MFFA YouTube channel (I am not sure whether the YouTube Channel GamingFreeForAll has anything to do with MFFA or not). More, nicovideo.jp. nicovideo is like the Japanese YouTube. A MFFA nicovideo channel can be used to showcase all MFFA's announced cool MUGEN releases. I once posted some SXVector's OMK release videos at nicovideo and some Japanese MUGEN fans could know of his MUGEN works. There can be a "splash video" -- using some screen capture software to capture a flow of using the MFFA web site, like a navigation to each forum, showing some member list, showing a moment in the chat room, using the web site search engine to search something, showing MFFA Facebook....etc....just to give new "customers" an introductory look of MFFA. Then I guess we can post some videos showing off like, Mugen Free For All Battle V4 (1.0) screenpack with all announced cool MUGEN releases from MFFA stages/lifebars/characters, at both YouTube MFFA channel and nicovideo MFFA channel to let more people know about MFFA and try to attract more new comers. Also, is IP.Board having some public newsletter subscription plugin? If so then both new comers and existing members can get the most updated MFFA information. Or even some RSS functionality? Oh just a very little minor opinion: For the current MFFA top banner, I can see there are many cool MUGEN characters behind the banner title. Is it a good idea to post more MFFA members' MUGEN characters? All I mean is, trying to "MFFA'ize" things......something like localizing things (i.e. Tuna Town)........ ?_? All of the above ideas of mine is very rough, and highly doubtfully do-able, and of course it may involve a lot of human works. Don't know, just a small proposal here..........
