Dan Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Today I learned there was a Spanish video game magazine in the early 2000's called GameType, it mostly focused on fighting games from SNK but also had entire sections dedicated to Mugen stuff and included compilations on CDs (even though I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to do that), you can check out some pages of it yourself over here: https://www.culturaneogeo.com/revistas/gametype It's all in Spanish but scrolling by you can see descriptions about recommended Mugen characters and whatnot, I'm surprised I've never heard of this before, not sure if it's still around though. SydneyBates Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 I didn’t know there was a Spanish video game magazine focused on fighting games and Mugen. It’s pretty cool to find out about things I missed back then. While I was looking through the pages, I took a break and played some spider solitaire. It helped me relax and clear my mind after digging into something new like this.
Dissidia Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Four years late, but it's always nice to see MUGEN receiving coverage back then, especially from early 2000s magazines. Main Site l YT Channel
LATER HERO Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 The article talks about how the creators of MUGEN had decided to release their latest version of MUGEN exclusively for Linux but now for Windows leaving aside the PC-MSDOS format and that because Elecbyte was going to need powerful compilers and other expensive programs and that if users really wanted this realization they should offer donations to carry out the project, which of course we know did happen. It also talks a bit about character creation using the programs of the time, Mugen Character Maker (MCM) and Paint Shop Pro. I remember that some time ago Basara-Kun was talking about old MUGEN content creators that are now retired such as Psycho Boy, Clarens, UselessChicken and Cerenas and the writer of this MUGEN article happens to be called Clarens B. I wonder if this is the same person Basara-Kun mentioned.
