  1. Nice.
  2. Going from the Discord room and the parts of the video I watched it looks like it went over really well. Grats man!
  3. I set up an MFFA server on Discord. Accounts there are very easy to make, and free. Friend request me at Doscord Tag: RobotMonkeyHead#7486 I'll add you, and once you're there feel free to invite anyone else you know from the forum.
  4. We've actually talked a little bit about this already. The problem with taking new people on and giving them that kind of access is that it's almost impossible to give them enough to do anything without giving them TOO much. It's a lot of trust to put in a new person, and me and Алескей have decided to do that part ourselves for the time being. I have considered the idea of taking on a sort of 'tech board' so to speak. Something like a group of a few people to keep an eye on things, alert us to security risks, double check addons and updates, make general suggestions etc. Then leave the actual doing to Алескей and myself. This is only a loose possibility at the moment however, there is nothing solid as of now. Good call on the Discord thing. The funny thing about that idea is that we just created a staff chat on there a few days ago, so we can all stay in contact during down times. It's been working out great, and literally about an hour before I read this post I was on Discord staff chat thinking of setting up an MFFA server on there for everyone. That's hopefully going to happen very soon, still have to clear it with the rest of staff tho. I don't know where the thing about me going on vacation came from. I saw someone say that on mfg, and I was a little confused. No, during all of our downtime, I'm typically working my ass off, pouring ridiculous amounts of time (just about all I can afford) into getting everything fixed and working again as quickly as possible. It just takes that long for us to fix it, between conversations trying to narrow down and diagnosing the problem, talking to tech support when necessary, general communication coordination (we all mostly used different apps). Problems were arising with speculations over at mfg because it was difficult for staff to stay in touch during down times, but that's since been solved with the discord staff chat. And may get even easier very soon.

  6. I'm currently writing a script that's triggered by my calendar to download a backup of the entire forum either nightly or every 3 days. All admins will have access to these backups, so once that's up and running, it'll be safe to say that this won't be happening again any time in the near future. I'll post once it's up and running.

  8. Most of the glitches seem to be working themselves out. Some of the images in the collections that were hosted on photobucket aren't showing up still.
  9. Upgraded, database repaired and optimized. I think the recent errors are a combination of what you're describing and that IPS upgrade kicking over. @Noside sorry man, that sucks. Just to expand on the bot issue a little bit, it did so by effecting one of our older out of use databases, which had had bot problems in the past. We think one of them has either been going this whole time, or was reactivated somehow, so recently that database started getting bigger and bigger in the background. Bigger than anything the tech support guy had ever seen in his life. Me and him had a good laugh about just how enormous it had gotten. Something like 6 times our allowed hosting space I think? No one noticed it quickly because we don't use that database anymore. We just kept it for the images in it. I hope this clears up the bot issue a little more.
  10. Apparently we aren't out of hot water yet. Trying to fix this right now.
  11. It actually got into an old obsolete database, which wound up causing the site to shut down from sheer size. That database was one staff used to use years ago to host images for our collections via a gallery feature. At the time, bots began accessing the gallery somehow, so the feature was removed for security. However one of the bots may have continued doing it's thing that entire time, or recently reactivated somehow, we don't know specifically. And thanks :)
  12. Well, this has been fun. First off I'd like to apologize to everyone for the down time. And for the 2 weeks of forum content we've lost. Gui and Waefu, I'm sorry about bambi's mother. Both of them. 2 fawns down 2 standing. Gear up for some payback fellas, fawns don't go out like no bitch! To everyone else who's last 2 weeks of discussion and hard work got thwomped by this damned spam bot, I'm sorry. We tried everything we possibly could. So many tutorials I could code our database from scratch, and tech support probably recognizes my number on their caller id at this point, if I'm not in their contacts already. We got hit with a spam bot that inflated one of our old databases up to an enormous 12m and despite all the best efforts of Alexei, Ryon and myself we were unable to salvage anything after October 4th. It was no one's fault, ultimately (other than the source of that bot's) it's just been staff attempting damage control, trying to save those 2 weeks worth of posts / content. Unfortunately it didn't work in the end. Going forward from here, theoretically this should be the last time anything like this happens. I'm currently working on automating regular backups of the entire forum. Nightly backups for up to a week, weekly backups for up to a month, and monthly backups for up to a year. Rather than relying on our hosting services back up and restore capabilities. We'll also have about 4 anti-spam plugins running from here on out. Thank you, to all of you for sticking around and coming back after all this. Again I'm so sorry for everything lost. It was a pretty hard hit, But we're back up and running and we will recover and rebuild!
  13. For posterity, the first issue got about 450 views over it's first week.
  14. Yes! Excellent job fellas, looks fantastic!
  15. lol yea man, when I was rebuilding the news board I think I know what happened. I was trying out the 'double click and hold to drag' function on my track pad, trying to get used to it. Now it just so happens that in the admin cp, the part where you're rearranging the forum tree is... very difficult to get them to land in the right place. Super touchy. So somewhere in that process I must have accidentally dragged the creator and edit boards into the help section. Kinda ironic lol
  16. Shit, really? Gimme a minute.
  17. As of recently, MFFA has a few new staff members! This is the thread to give them a welcome, say hi, or at least just let them know how badly you plan to torment them in the near future! ~ News Staff ~ ~ Vault Keeper ~ gui0007 Mʀ. Sтᴇαl-Yoᴜя-Wαεfυ Big Green As of now gui0007 and Mʀ. Sтᴇαl-Yoᴜя-Wαεfυ will be running the MFFA Weekly News, and Big Green will be helping out around the collections thread. The News Staff has moderator permissions on the News board, and the Vault Keeper has moderator permissions on the Collections board. If you ever need to contact them, visit the Staff directory at the top of the main page.
  18. The Fawn ~ Member Articles This thread is here for you to write articles and have them published in The Fawn. You can submit pretty much anything you want, there aren't any hard fast rules or formats. We just ask that you provide a title for your work, and give credit where it's due. If you're into it, but still looking for ideas for what to write, here's a list list of random suggestions: ~ Character Review ~ Pick your favorite Mugen character, and write a review of them! How do they play, what do you like about them, what strategies do you use against various opponent types, any bugs glitches, fair / unfair, who coded them, anything else you'd like to see added? ~ Stage / Life Bars / WIP / etc Review - Same as the character review, just apply it to whatever other content you like. ~ Release Article ~ If you're planning a release soon, you could write up a release article to go with it and submit it on the Content Submissions board. ~ Coding Tip ~ If you've found some nice work around, or an elegant way to code a particular feature, or if you just have some bit of coding you find particularly useful, we would love to see it. ~ Funnies ~ Found some funny ass gifs? There is a funnies submission thread just for this. Post them there, and see if they get in. ~ Strategy Guide ~ You could make a strategy guide for a certain character, or a certain group of characters. e.g. Batman by Alucard, Metal Slug vs Normal Sized Chars, Zoners vs Grapplers etc. ~ Text Interviews ~ Feel like interviewing your favorite creator? Hassle them ruthlessly until they agree, then change their words around and compile what you wanted them to say into an interview and submit it to the news staff for publishing lol! ~ Video Interviews ~ Yup, those are possible too. ~ Discussion Article ~ Some types of threads are better broadcast than others, so try to be tasteful here. But something like a fantasy role play thread where you might want to draw attention might be worth writing up a short article about with a link included. ~ Series - Consider becoming a regular contributor, either periodically or over the course of a planned series of weekly contributions. For examples, a 4 week series of strategy guides for characters in a single game, or a series of comics your made, or a regular column. ~New Ideas - Let us know if you have an idea for a new suggestion to add to this list!
  19. THE BASICS: Off-site releases from around the Mugen community are posted here, on the News board. So if there's a sweet release on another forum or site you know of, this is the place to share it. Make sure to follow these rules when posting: 1. Thread title: Always include author name and release date in your thread title. Widely used format: [Content name] released / updated by [Author name] [Release/update date] 2. Time range of news: Only post recently released / updated works. Maximum time range since release / update date is 1 month. 3. Visual preview: Always include screenshot(s) / video(s) that will serve as visual of the contents, it'd be nice if you use your own screenshot instead of copy pasting from someone else. 4. Linking to author website: DO NOT direct link to files on their website's server like this. Some web servers are known to forbid this and direct you to 404 error page. Important: Refrain yourself from linking to ad referral sites (such as adf.ly) or any sites that force redirection to adfly (such as Mugen Archive), as many of these ad referral sites these sites possess known security vulnerabilities. Mugen and all its contents are meant to be free, and any attempts to monetize them are prohibited. 5. No Link Requests: To make a request, go to the Content Requests sub-board in the Member Support forum on the main page, rather than asking on the News forum. 6. No child pornography characters: This includes loli and shota. Not only is it visually disturbing to many, but is also illegal in many jurisdictions across the world. Do not try to create a loophole by using "technically" as an excuse, either. The character's canonical age does not matter: if a character looks like a minor, then it counts as a minor. No exceptions. WEEKLY NEWS: Every week around Sunday (give or take a day) the News Staff posts the Motha Fuckin Fawn, which is MMFA's Weekly News. The Fawn can be found on it's own sub-board in the News forum and every Issue contains releases from throughout that week. The releases come from the Release forum, and the Offsite Releases sub-board in the News forum. The Fawn also includes news articles from the gaming community in general, new games coming out, strategy tips for existing games etc. And sometimes there will be articles written by either staff or MFFA members. So if you feel like contributing some of your handy-work in the form of an article about anything Mugen or gaming related that you wish, please be our guest. If that's you, visit the Content Submissions thread on the Fawns board.
  20. Can't stop laughing? Gif funny as shit? Post it here! We'll take gifs, pics, vids, articles, quotes, whatever. Just make sure it's Safe For Work. Disclaimer: No guarantees it's getting in. The News Staff has the final say about what they want to use in the news.
  21. lol glad to hear everything's working for you guys! Excellent. Garchomp, sorry, that button opens up too many security issues. It supports people adding html into their actual posts. I'm not about to give up tho, not until every possibility is exhausted. I have one or two more ideas for potential work arounds for you, but I'm going to have to wait until the odd hours of the morning to test them out, so I disturb as few people as possible :)
  22. After a solid afternoon of rehashing, rebuilding and trimming the toolbar, it looks like the image linking issue should be resolved. Thank you guys for bearing with me through the rebuild process. I wanted to get it done asap, so people could carry on with their work. Normally I do this shit in the early AM. The problem: A combination of extra embedding support plugins and a certain Link plugin (which had some really nice features). Eventual Solution: Removed almost all extra embedding support. We run exclusively on auto-embedding along with the default link button and image panel. This allows the built in auto embedding to distinguish between links and linked images without influence. @White Ranger & @Ryoucchi is everything working ok for you guys now?
