How do you feel about Shion and Ash?

Reading the SNK wiki does things to people's mind. O_O

Apparently, Ash is a guy, (I already knew that) but Shion is a guy, too.

I think that's going a little too far.

I have a theory that in Japan he/she (i'll just call Shion "it") is male, but everywhere else, it's a female.

Even better, in the American verison, Shion's voice is of a woman.

What do you guys think?

Looks can be deceiving, Shion came as a surprise to me; SNK have done this in the past though (Such examples include Bao or Chris, I initially thought Bao was a girl). I ascertained that Ash Crimson was male when I first played KOF '03 (I must admit the headband was misleading).

Gotta admit i mistook Shion as girl too, but i'm not really surprised when the profile said male.

Gameplay-wise:

- I prefer Ash much much over Shion; Shion system is too complicated for me to use........

 

Graphics-wise:

- the first time I saw Shion I already considered him a male.

 

If Shion was not a sub-boss, then I probably would not have included him in my data/select.def

 

Nonetheless, Juke Kisaragi did a professional well-done MUGEN job with Shion!

If i remember correctly, SNK planned for Shion to be a girl but changed it for some reason.

Shion is male? Well its not as shocking as when i found out Bridget from Guilty Gear is male.

IKR!    Looks can be decieving, but I'm still confused about the voice thing. In Japan, Shoin sounds like a guy, meanwhile, here in America, it sounds like a woman. I think even SNK of America got confused!

But Genesis is right.

Apparently, according to the SNK wiki, Shoin was originally a girl. But they scrapped that idea. It was supposed to be a daughter of Ignes, i think...

But yea... SNK of Japan is a serious   lol

How do I feel about these characters?  I hate them.  Androgyny is something that the world could do without.  On the bright side, it's better than Capcom's love of obnoxious and monsterous characters.

I actually like the monstosity Capcom makes. ^_^; I didn't read the second part...

But I do know androgyny isn't a crime, it's a unsolved wonder...

It's sort of like teaching a puppy to meow like a cat, but still look like a dog.

That's what made a system unique. It's called diversity. Something distinguished from other things.

 

You don't want all the characters on your fighting game is generic guy with headbands and gi lol.

 

Only my humble opinion though.

I glad someone said their honest opinion, and for that I respect you. I do agree with you, but I was born under a house (and the year) where that was awkward...but yea. But yea, no generic chars ftw! :)
