Or maybe she's just an Orochi follower who decided to take some inspirations from other SNK bosses. Trivia: SNK made the female version of Goenitz canon in one of their KOF pachinkos, but she's doesn't have a name anymore and instead is only refered to as "Orochi follower". So yeah, maybe this is not R63 Geonitz anymore, but just one of the many generic Orochi followers that exist.

Well, we will either get 4 more characters (including Cloud) or 8 more characters (including Cloud), if the Character Packs in the eShop are anything to go by.

They did that one purpose. They wanted Linkle to be as different as possible. So she gets dual crossbows and her own original backstory, showing that she is not just Female Link, but its own thing.
