What happened to this website?

For a uncertain duration of time, this whole website was completely inaccessible and showed a page that said "this account has been suspended" or something of that sort, I recall people saying that this meant the website would never return, but it did.

I am very confused as to what went down that resulted in this website effectively being locked down from the whole world, perhaps some company error lead to it? I want to know more about what caused this website to be closed.

It happens around the same time almost every year, and it's nothing more than lack of payment from the webmaster.

 

Whoever said MFFA wouldn't return had no idea what they were talking about.
