Started working on another character from CF3, this time its Angoleiro, a hat throwing dude and it is an OLD man =P

Angoleiro´s Bio, Source:Official capoeira Fighter site Real Name: Alvaro Tavares Origin:Angola, Namibe City In his youth a vicious fighter, he had little compassion for anyone and he lived a life of decadence and indulgence. All that changed when he met his wife, Rosa. When he lost her to a sudden fever, Alvaro nearly died himself of grief. Since that time, Rosa has come to his husband in dreams, directing him to people who need his help. Angoleiro believes that his wife is helping him atone for the sins of his youth. Angoleiro has been troubled by a recent dream. In it, he sees the figure of a young girl playing capoeira, but he can't make out her features. The only other clue to her identity is her fierce fighting style.

A small trivia: there is a town here in Brazil, famous for it's beaches (and parties) called "Porto de Galinhas" ("Chicken's Port" or "Hen's Harbor" in a literal translation) and it is a tourist spot. It got this name because at some point there was a law which forbade to buy or sell slaves, but it was OK to keep the ones you already had. Of course, there was a smuggling network. So every time a new shipment of slaves arrived, they announced that they got a shipment of chickens from Angola ( guinea fowl is the species name in English. Figures ), so they changed the name of the town.

woah, interesting, does anybody know if there were capoeira roots before the slave era in africa?, on the site it say angoleiro practices capoeira angola, what would be the main difference?

yes. Capoeira, besides some people claims, was not made here in Brazil. It comes from Angola, Africa.

There are tree types of Capoeira:

- Angola, which were developed on the slave ship, so its moves are always low, the fighter never fights on a stand position, because the ship ceiling was too low.

- Regional, which features more acrobatic moves (which doesn't exists on Angola)

- Maculelê, also faced as a different Martial Art. On this version, the fighters weild big knifes (butcher knifes, or Facão as we call it here). In some versions, the fighters use razors/shaver between the foot fingers, and use circular kicks to cut the enemy face.

Angoleiro reflects the Capoeira Master (Mestre). The old Masters fights using that cloth, and fights really slowly. And DO NOT get the cloths dirth :) But to play capoeira slowly is HELL HARD, they have an incredible power and equilibrium. But they can still play it fast and kick your ass :)
