Background & History

  Okita Soji, (1842 or 1844 – July 19, 1868) was the captain of the first unit of the 

  Shinsengumi, a special police force in Kyoto during the late shogunate period. He was 

  one of the best swordsmen of the Shinsengumi, along with Saito Hajime and Nagakura 

  Shinpachi.

  

  He was one of the key figures of the Shinsengumi, and also one of the founding members 

  along with Commander Kondo Isami. Okita was very young when he adopted the title of 

  assistant vice commander and showed exceptional skill for someone his age. During his time 

  with the Shinsengumi, he also became a kenjutsu instructor for the faction. Even becoming 

  the fifth master of the Shinsengumi’s trademark fighting style, Tennen Rishin-ryu.

 

  It is unclear when exactly he became sick, but many stories claim that after the Ikedaya Affair,

  Okita contracted tuberculosis. A common disease at the time, and one that had no cure. However,

  this did not impede with his duties as assistant vice commander as he kept on carrying out his 

  missions. It was only after the Battle of Toba-Fushimi, that he was hospitalised, and eventually 

  died at the young age of 25.

 

Appearance

  Okita has a very youthful appearance, looking several years younger than his actual age. 

  He has straight brown hair done in a short ponytail and large brown eyes. He wears a 

  traditional Shinsengumi uniform.

 

Personality

  Okita is kind and respectful to both his fellow Shinsengumi members and his enemies alike.

  He is usually shown with a confident smile and takes his fights seriously, despite his 

  child-like appearance. Although he respects all Shinsengumi leaders, he shows a particular 

  respect to Saito Hajime, even though he was arguably a better swordsman than the latter.

 

Okita in Rurouni Kenshin

  Okita is mentioned in the anime/manga series Rurouni Kenshin, which takes place during

  and after the Meiji Revolution in Japan. He makes a major appearance in the OVA and is 

  briefly shown during the Kyoto Arc (before the character based on the Okita Soji from 

  novel Shinsengumi Keppuroku, Seta Sojiro, makes his appearance); in the manga, Okita is 

  also shown during the Jinchu Arc. During the Bakumatsu, Okita faced Himura Kenshin shortly 

  at the Battle of Toba-Fushimi. He wanted to face Kenshin himself even though he was coughing 

  up blood but was stopped by Saito Hajime. Sometime later, he died from tuberculosis.

the only thing i dont like about him is he has the same pattern and he uses his throw then stab you alot more then he does anything else but other then that he awesome
