Why are joke characters are just that... A Joke?

Let me ask you guys and girls a question... You ever try to find a character for a long time, months upon years, and when you finally come across it you get so excited to download it, then unzip it, put it in your roster then you load up your Mugen, whether be it Mugen 1.0, 1.1, or even WinMugen. And as your getting excited in however way you do, you go to your character select screen and go straight to that character,and as you play as that character its not as cool as it was hyped up to be, the movements are choppy, the sound is not in sync, the super aint super, and etc. So why does this happen to the best of us??  I wish I knew, I wish I knew....

Does it have something to do more with the quality and/or the progress of the said MUGEN characters, rather than "a joke or not"?

It depends Borewood on the intention that the characters where made, some people will hype up the characters like they are the best they ever made, or wont tell you nothing at all.

Somehow I feel like some, if not all, of my MUGEN characters are joke characters.  So if I am going to make and release a joke character then I have to label it "joke" in the first place to avoid your said confusion. Now I actually have a joke MUGEN character idea in my mind!  Jotting down notes now.............

@ Borewood yes i understand what you mean, but thats what Im saying why dont most people that release characters dont mention that and why the hype over a joke or release joke character.

I guess they do that for a surprise?  Like......especially on the April Fools' Day..........unless the MUGEN author is already well known by making and releasing joke MUGEN characters.

there are HIGH quality joke characters by The_None and Dr Kelexo also other authors.

 

your definition of a joke character is wrong you  are confusing joke characters with horrible characters because the author is bad at coding.

 

joke characters does not always mean it plays bad it means its a hilarious character that is fun to play at times to take example psychopath kyo hes a riot to play as but hes still a joke character.

It's like Borewood is Warewoods mentally depressed alter ego, and when someone insults his work he can't take it and retreats to Borewood or something like split personality's. Come on your work is fine, it's great to see you create characters that haven't been made for mugen like you have, Cheer up.

while his work may need well work I have seen way worse and its better than alot of ppl he thinks is better than him. god I now want to make a rule to stop acting inferior like that. I am tired of this.

Thank you all for your support and advice.  I fully understand all your points.  Yet, it is my personal decision to keep using my current MUGEN "boring" style, in my current MUGEN state.

 

And, I think I have been spending too much time on explaining my MUGEN "boring" style, as well as talking my MUGEN past, so, I think from now on, I will try not to spend extra time on my MUGEN "boring" style explanation and my MUGEN past talk, rather, to spend more time on my "Sharing is Caring" MUGEN mission.

I did not mean not-so-good quality = joke.  I tried some quality joke MUGEN characters too. 

When SeSsHoMaGoKu23 mentioned, "the movements are choppy, the sound is not in sync, the super aint super,....", which can happen to any types of MUGEN characters.

if you want to get behind that then you need to do 5 things

 

1. change your name from borewood to something else

 

2. stop putting the word boring in ANY of your characters anywhere

 

3. stop posting that retarded disclaimer

 

4. stop acting so inferior when you aren't

 

5. read the 1 -4 again

 

do all 5 of those things and you will have "put it behind you and focus on sharing is caring"

@Laharl you make an excellent point indeed alot of characters are badly coded but Ive seen where some people put in their descriptions how bad the characters are coded wrong or their sprites are not lined up correctly. Btw what characters did those authors make, and I know exactly what you mean cuz Ive played with Pscyhopath Kyo and he's pretty fun to play with, also Slightly Pissed Off Ryu, and Hadouken as well.

Some joke characters like Pittan, and Rage Rock are good, I love some joke characters, as they can be so unexpected.
