He kept running as the pursuit went on. They were getting close to the meeting point.

 

Agni: There! I can see the meeting point!

Rokurou: Well, we're near to the exit now!

 

Agni noticed that the guards were all surprised with what was happening. He had a guess, but if the others were to arrive, they would attack.

 

Agni: Damn, the guards will ambush them... they won't be able to leave!

Rokurou: Well, I can't put you back on the ground and defeat those guards for them... and once we leave, there aren't any turn backs either.

Agni: ... If we get out, it's already something. I have faith they will manage to leave on their own.

Rokurou: That's the best thing you can do right now.

Agni: OK... hey, turn left here!

Rokurou: Whoa, almost missed it...

 

It was the last stretch. Rokurou kept running the fast as he could. He looked back a little and kept running. He was also able to see that Agni was worried about them, but he tried his best to struggle against his instinct to turn back. Right now, staying in the slums would only be a major problem to them.

 

Mirfah

 

Even though Yui was in her aim now, Mirfah rushed and tried to attack with Vengeance once again.

 

Mirfah (?): KILL!! KILL!! KILL!! JUST DIE!!

 

He jumped and tried to attack with his claw once again.

 

Audience Team

 

Magnum: Sir Seraph!! Changing Paradigm to-

Seraph: Type 0: Search.

 

Seraph ran towards the creature but his form began to vanish as their distance began to close. Soon, he was nowhere to be seen.

 

Lize: H-He's gone!

Magnum: Wait... behind the creature!

 

Seraph reappeared behind the strange creature, already holding his katana.

 

Seraph: Type 2: Persevere!

 

He quickly does a sword-draw sweep. If it hits, he would be able to connect into another move.

 

Melina

 

BGM: Soul Eater of the Abyss still playing

Her knives have been deflected easily as the staff came quickly towards her. Melina jumped with a sommersault in a northwest direction. She had an idea that the staff would function like a boomerang, so she had to stay out of the way. She called her knives back, without the need to run towards them. She descended and quickly prepared a counter attack.

Melina: It is my turn now... Samael Eater!

 

She arranged her knives in a jaw-like formation and covered them with a dark magic aura. With a single gesture, Melina sends it towards Kirimuri, as the knives opened and closed as if they were ready to devour him whole.

Melina

 

Melina: Hehe... I do hope you provide me some entertainment. I wish for the best of luck.

 

Battle!

Kirimuri VS Melina

 

Their arena looked like a destroyed town. Everything was in shambles, falling apart. It's as if this was the bad future of a beautiful land.

 

BGM: Soul Eater of the Abyss (Touhou Tougenkyuu ~ Riverbed Soul Saver)

 

Melina: Well then, let us begin! Kirimuri, come and show me the nightmare you are able to create!

 

The young princess begin her move by simply throwing knives at him. She had no expectation of her tools to hit, but this was just the beginning. There was no need for her to take it so seriously right now.

Audience Team

 

Magnum: Monsters are coming! There are more of those guys around!

Lize: They seem to be hard! What should we do?

BGM: Infallible Intelligence (Blaze Union: A Story to Reach the Future)

 

Seraph: Are your weapons exclusively for show? Is your resolve that weak?

Magnum: N-No, but...

Seraph: We were issued with this mission. I don't wish to fail, neither do you. So stop thinking and battle so that you won't die.

 

Agni Artwaltz and Rokurou Rangetsu

 

Agni: (Oh no, they saw us. They saw us! What am I supposed to do now?!)

Rokurou: ... This kid has been captured and I'm taking him with me as my hunt bait. It's his punishment for trespassing his own limits.

Agni: (W-What?! D-Don't be so direct, idiot!!)

Rokurou: So, unless you prefer for him to be eaten alive by some monster...

 

Rokurou grabbed Agni quickly and carried him in one arm.

 

Agni: W-Whoa!!

Rokurou: You might as well come after me and take him back by force!!

 

He ran away with Agni, expecting the others to follow him after saying his friend was going to be purposedly killed in a hunt.

 

Agni: What are you trying to do?! Get yourself killed by them?!

Rokurou: I doubt that you want only us outside the slums, right?!

Agni: Ah...! Well, I do, but-

Rokurou: Just hang on tight and let me do things! We're getting out quickly!

 

Mirfah

 

Mirfah (?): DIE!!!!

 

Mirfah attacked with his claw, but the knight had its shield blocking her. He clashed with the shield and tried to force it down single-handedly.

 

Melina

 

Melina giggled and looked back at Kirimuri while putting her knife away.

 

Melina: Hehe, you were sleeping so innocently... I tried to resist, but your reaction over a cold blade being put in your cheek was completely priceless. I may come out clean and tell that I do not feel for your fear of a blade being put closely to your throat.

Melina: Also, Miss Mech-Hisui, we do wish to use an arena. Is there ny one free for our usage?

 

Upon hearing Kirimuri's complaint, Melina walked near the counter of the couch where he was sitting while holding a knife behind her back and facing Mech-Hisui. She pointed the knife towards the couch and stabbed it near him. She quickly removed it and put the knife away quickly.

 

Melina: Oh my, oh me! I supposed an accident happened here! Now the couch has a hole in it...

Melina: Kirimuri, apologize properly and pay the money needed for the repair. If you do not have it, let it be added to your debt.

Agni Artwaltz and Rokurou Rangetsu

 

BGM: Traverse Town still playing

 

Eventually, they went through another path, almost back at the meeting point.

 

Agni: I guess we're close to the end.

Rokurou: Yeah, that seems to be the case.

Agni: Glad that the fact you're a fighting maniac helped us getting by the guards without problems.

Rokurou: Well, what can I say? It's a trait I'm proud to have.

Agni: If you say so.

 

However, one problem appeared: they were near Team 1. It seems as if they were asking around, so nothing seemed wrong. But if Agni were to be seen with Rokurou at the state he currently is, a lot of explanation would be necessary and they couldn't waste more time.

 

Agni: (Oh crap, it's Light's team!!)

Rokurou: Look at those guys running around. What the hell are they doing anyway?

Agni: I-I'll explain later! Forget about them and just go!

Rokurou: H-Hey, hold on! Don't need to push!

 

Even though his hands were locked, Agni pushed Rokurou around with his shoulders. He needed to get away without being seen.

 

Melina

 

As Kirimuri was lying on the lounge, a cluster of crimson butterflies appeared. They regrouped and formed the young princess once again.

 

Melina: (Sleeping now? Honestly...)

Melina: (Oh well, I can always use a little prank to wake him up...)

 

She picked one of her knives and put it near to his face. It was a little cold, so she positioned it right next to his cheek.

BGM: Traverse Town (Kingdom Hearts)

 

They got out of the house and began to walk towards the exit. Some guards came to them to question where Rokurou was taking him.

 

Guard #1: C-Commander, where are you taking him?

Rokurou: I'm taking him to the forest. He's the monster bait for today.

Guard #2: M-Monster bait? But... shouldn't you warn the General first?

Rokurou: It's not like he wants to have a chat right now. Besides, this works just fine for him, right? We have to kill this idiot right here.

Agni: ...

Rokurou: It's going to be fine. Just leave this to me and keep doing the rounds after the intruders.

Guard #1: B-But Commander...

Rokurou: Oh, I suppose you guys want to help me then. Well, I can think of a few little-

Guards: AAAAH!! N-No, sir!! W-We won't say anything as well, sir!!

 

The guards quickly left, seemngly scared. Rokurou started scratching his belly, confused.

 

Rokurou: Why are they always so scared?

Agni: If you don't know, I know it less...

Rokurou: Anyway, I did it well, I suppose. This is going to be easy...

Rokurou: ... and boring. Damn, I want a fight already...

Agni: Oh, geez... be patient. You'll get your fight, don't worry. It's my part of the deal, isn't it?

Rokurou: Yep, it is!

Agni: Then let's keep moving.

 

They kept walking towards the street. No other guards bothered to ask what Rokurou was going to do. Even the elites didn't manage to swell up courage and ask. As they kept cruising, Rokurou asked something to Agni.

 

Rokurou: Hey, remind this one thing. You got this far all by yourself, right?

Agni: Well, yeah. I just didn't want to put my friends in danger so I ran alone as a bait.

Rokurou: Huh... well, I guess you are pretty strong then. You know, I might end up pulling you into a fight.

Agni: Wha- why me?! I'm a gunner! It's true that I know some physical moves and grapples, but-

Rokurou: Then you KNOW how to fight! Heh, that's pretty cool! I think I wanna swap this guy you know with you!

Agni: Don't start with the weird ideas... I'm not that good into fighting...

Rokurou: Liar. Do you like the idea of making fun of me?

Agni: N-No, I would never do that! I'm serious, I'm not good a fighting in close combat, Rokurou!

Rokurou: Agni, was it? Look, it doesn't matter how you fight. I just want to fight you. Is that too much of a problem to you?

Agni: I'm not expressively saying it's a problem, but don't you think it's going to be boring fighting with a gunner instead of a real fighter? I mean, I could just stay shooting at you the whole fight, couldn't I?

Rokurou: It doesn't matter. It's just for the laughs. C'mon, have some fighting spirit.

Agni: Ugh, fine, fine... I'll fight you...

Rokurou: Whoa, you changed your mind. So, are you really going to fight me?

Agni: You'll pester me all the way if I say no, won't you?

Rokurou: Maybe. Who knows.

Agni: Either way, I'm used to be a punching bag. I'll try to provide you some entertainment if that's what you dearly wish.

Rokurou: Take it seriously. I'm not going to fight you if it's going to be taken so half-heartedly like that.

Agni: I'm just... you know what, I'm going to stop talking.

 

He sincerely laughed at how Agni was a giver. Maybe he didn't want to be bothered or it was because he didn't have too many guts to simply say no. Something about that amused Rokurou.

 

Rokurou: Hehe... you're so funny. I kinda like you already. You're like a grumpy little brother that I never head.

Agni: I can't say if that means I'm a good friend or I'm an 19-year looking old man...

Rokurou: It's definitely the first one. Meeting you wasn't bad actually. You remind me of an old friend.

Agni: Uh... thanks, I guess. You're pretty cool yourself.

Rokurou: Oh, maybe we can call you as Agni Rangetsu! How about it?

Agni: I... prefer to be called as Artwaltz. An easter surname doesn't sound too good with my name.

Rokurou: Aww, darn it. Still, I could take you as my pupil, I suppose.

Agni: I'm not interested in that either, Rokurou.

Rokurou: C'mon, man... grumpy little Agni and your whole gun issue...

Agni: S-Stop calling me grumpy and just keep walking!

BGM: Omen (Immaterial and Missing Power)

 

Agni went out of the room with his cup and saw Rokurou on the lounge, drinking sake. The room itself was completely oriental-styled, different from what he was used to.

 

Rokurou: Oh, rested already?

Agni: I already slept with the serum. Getting out of here is my priority.

Rokurou: Well, if you say so. Let's get moving then.

Agni: Wait, we can't just simply go out and leave! They're going to come after us!

Rokurou: Oh... you're right. Well, we can just take them out with our weapons.

Agni: There are too many of them! Don't tell me you plan to take them all at once, Rokurou!

Rokurou: That's the exact idea I had! You don't have to worry, I can cover for us both.

 

Agni couldn't believe in what he just heard. Rokurou had actually no idea of how they could leave safely. Instead, he preferred to hack'n'slash until they were are the entrance.

 

Agni: *facepalm* Ugh, I can't believe you planned to take them all out at once...

Rokurou: Is that too much of a bad thing? It'll give us some action while we go.

Agni: Of course it is! I can't have yourself throwing out that you're commiting treason like it's normal! They go to the traitors first, then after the enemies! That's common sense!

Rokurou: I think you're doubting my skills and that's your excuse to not admit it.

Agni: No, I'm not! I just... c'mon, don't you wish to use those skills of yours on the stronger opponents instead of wasting them on mobs?

 

Since he knew discussing too logically with Rokurou wouldn't work, he went to points that interested the swordsman. He did thought that Agni's reasoning would make things unexciting, but went along, bothered.

 

Rokurou: Ugh, fine. What is your suggestion?

Agni: Hmm... what do you normally eat, Rokurou? Do you tend to go hunting?

Rokurou: Hell yeah I do! There's nothing better than hunting our own food. Well, it comes from monsters but I guess I don't care about that too. Plus, it helps me with my training.

Agni: Good. Then, it's settled.

 

Rokurou was unable to understand what was settled in all this. However, Agni didn't explain and just looked around the room. He saw that a guard left cuffs and a key for him to use, so he grabbed them, put the key in his pocket and locked his hands.

 

Agni: There. It's going to hurt my wrists after this, but I'll endure it. The key's in my pocket as well

Rokurou: Hold it, what are you doing?

Agni: For this to work, I need to look as if I'm rendered useless. You'll tell the guards that you're going to use me as bait for your hunting, so instead of having me executed, I'll die there.

Rokurou: Oh, I see. You want to convince them that we're not running away.

Agni: Yep. Now let's go. We don't have too much time.

 

Both left the house. Supposedly, Agni's plan is going to work against the guards and they'll be able to leave the slums. Rokurou wouldn't mind fighting, but that would turn to be problematic if it happened.

 

Mirfah

 

BGM: Cleric Beast -FalKKonE Remix- still playing

 

Mirfah walked slowly, leaving cracks on the ground as he walked forward. As he reached a close distance, he raised one claw..

 

Mirfah (?): VENGEANCE... VENGEANCE!!!

 

His claw was charged with dark energy as he went down at her, trying to attack her directly in the head.

 

Melina

 

The crimson butterfly cluster returned to the church, converged and she reappeared. There they still were.

 

Melina: Sorry for my abrupt leaving, but I had something to talk with Kirimuri. Is Emilia feeling better?

Mirfah

 

Mirfah managed to defend himself but Tommy still got pierced by the blade.

 

Mirfah: No!! TOMMY!!!

 

He began to relive his memories. Seeing his whole squad dying as he was the only one left alive. Abandoned by the Summoners' Hall, he never got a chance to ask for help neither to return to where he once belonged. Those memories brought rage towards his heart.

 

Mirfah: You... you... yOu BasTARd!!!

 

BGM: Cleric Beast -FalKKonE Remix- (Bloodborne)

 

A pillar of dark energy rose under Mirfah. It consumed him as his form began to change. Suddenly, he grew and he gained a new aspect... no. It'd be correct to say that he returned to what he once was.

 

Mirfah (?): AAAAAAAGHH!! I WILL KILL YOU!!! DESTROY YOU!!! ERADICATE YOU!!!

 

 

Melina

 

BGM: Fizz still playing

 

Melina: Well, now I am excited for this! Hehe, this will be amazing.

Melina: Go on ahead, I shall head back to the church before they think we just abandoned them.

 

Without any worriness, Melina just disappeared. The truth is that she transformed into crimson butterflies. Said beautiful insects flew back towards the church, in order to get Darkflare and the others.

Mirfah

 

Mirfah: Tommy, behind you!!

 

Mirfah tried to extend0 his arm around Tommy and defend him with his yellow (Light) blade while defended himself with his red (Fire) blade. However, it's unknown if it's going to actually work so Mirfah was worried. Split-second reactions aren't his thing.

Mirfah

 

After running without looking behind, Mirfah eventually reached the streets, finally leaving the cramped alleyway.

 

Mirfah: Haaah... damn, I think I'm not that used to my human body anymore...

 

He looked behind him but didn't manage to see her following him. It seems she stood behind attacking Tommy.

 

Mirfah: Huh?! Did she stood behind attacking Tommy?! Damn it, it didn't work!!

 

When he looked with more precision, there was Tommy running towards him and the red knight following him.

 

Melina

 

Kirimuri seemed to be leaving, so she quietly followed him, leaving Hinamori, Emilia and Darkflare alone at the church. Once reaching him, Melina gave a little laugh and began to speak.

 

Melina: Actually, about the Hangout arenas...

 

BGM: Fizz (Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-)

 

Melina: Kirimuri, I challenge you to a fight against me.

 

She pointed her knife at him. Melina was feeling herself bored of playing this investigative work, so she needed to discharge it immediately.

 

Melina: I want to see up close how you are able to fight. Also, this will be a display for you to see how I work. So, will you accept or will you deny it... better phrasing it, "chicken out"?

Agni Artwaltz

 

Agni opened his eyes and saw a roof. He looked around, still drowzy.

 

Agni: Where... am I...?

???: Oh, someone's finally awake.

 

A man entered in the room. He brought a cup of coffee and let it on the table near the bed.

 

???: You're at my house. The guards brought you here.

Agni: Huh...? Wait... then you're with them...

 

BGM: Rokurou Rangetsu (Tales of Berseria)

 

???: Yep, you're right. Anyway, my name is...

 

Rokurou: So, what's your name? Unless you want me to refer you as "kiddo".

Agni: I-It's Agni. Agni Artwaltz.

Rokurou: Artwaltz? You're a noble or something like that?

Agni: No... well, not exactly. It's a long story.

Rokurou: Oh yeah? Well, maybe we can hear it after a good round of sake!

Agni: Uh, no, I don't drink. Sorry.

Rokurou: Haha, I was just joking. I wouldn't give drinks to a kid like you.

Agni: K-Kid? I'm 19!

Rokurou: Really? You got a face of someone who's in their 14...

Agni: I don't think a 14 years old kid would be running from guards while shooting and destroying a house.

Agni: Also, why are you being so friendly with me? We're enemies, you know. I shoot your soldiers.

Rokurou: If I am to tell you, it's because I don't care.

Agni: Wait, you don't care about the lives given to you?!

Rokurou: Not that. I don't care about this whole thing. I joined because they said we would fight someone very strong. I actually fought the big boss behind this whole thing but I lost. Instead of taking my life away, he recruited me under the ranks. I fought against some soldiers and eventually became a commander.

Rokurou: But truth be told, this is boring as hell... none of those guys knew how to fight decently so my victories were all easy. Also, nothing exciting ever happens so I'm always on standby. Plus, I've asked the guy for a rematch and he said no.

Agni: I-I see... so in terms, you're bored.

Rokurou: "Bored" is being mild about this. You know, I might just leave this whole thing and go search after someone else.

 

So, in terms, Rokurou was another fight-lover, like Magnum or Light. That gave Agni an idea of how he would safely escape.

 

Agni: How about we make a deal?

Rokurou: A deal? What sort of deal?

Agni: I know someone who's very strong. The guy is a brute challenge to be topped. If you help me get out of the slums, I'll see if I can get a fight between you two.

Rokurou: For real? You'd really do that for me?

Agni: I don't see why not. You don't look like a bad person, Rokurou, so I'll help you out.

Rokurou: Alright then! I'm on it!

Agni: Aren't you going to question me? I mean, I could be lying, you know.

Rokurou: Man, I'm not wasting time with those sorts of things. All I want is to prove the power of the Rangetsu style to the strongest people. If there's a way for me to get it, I'm on and that's final.

Agni: Aren't you simple-minded...

 

Rokurou laughed at Agni's sincerity. He walked back to the door, but gave him a last glance.

 

Rokurou: I'll get myself ready then. You take that coffee right there and a little more of rest.

 

*BGM fades*

 

He closed the door, leaving Agni alone in the room. He took a sip of the coffee and...

 

Agni: Gah!! My tongue! That's hot and bitter!

 

Mirfah

 

BGM: Yukimura Sanada's Theme still playing

 

Mirfah: Tch...!!

 

Mirfah tried to slash her, but his sword was blocked by her shield just in time. He backed off and his blades lost the energy they had before.

 

Mirfah: C'mon, I'm your enemy now! Why don't you try to get me?!

 

He ran back to the open streets. The alleyway was too cramped for them to fight.

 

Melina

 

They had no success finding the magatama, but Kirimuri came back with Hinamori. Melina wanted to ruin his personal image in her front, but she stood quiet, waiting for a better opportunity.

 

Melina: So... that is how you look under the attire. Impressive that you really look different from before. Oh, and that punch was well-received.

Melina: Oh and... my, my, it seems like it worked! Excellent work, Miss Hinamori!

Agni Artwaltz

 

BGM: We Are Finally Cowboys -Golden Brown Mix- still playing

 

Agni kept running. He was away from them a considerable distance due to the building he destroyed. However, the guards were giving chance and he was still on their sights. They kept shooting at him, but the distance made the bullets less accurate.

 

Agni: (I need to reload my bullets, but I can't stop running! I need to find somewhere to hide...!!)

 

From a rooftop not far from there, an elite sniper aimed at him. However, his rifle wasn't charged with a normal bullet. It had a bullet-shaped syringe, filled with paralysis and sleeping serum.

 

Elite Sniper: Got you on my sights, kid. Time to say goodnight.

 

He shot, aiming at Agni's shoulder. Considering the distance and trajectory, it would be very lucky of him to actually hit the angel. However, it seemed Lady Luck smiled upon him... because it did.

 

Agni: Gah...!!

 

*BGM fades*

 

Agni fell down to ground as his leg got immobilized suddenly. His body stopped responding, even his fingers were refusing to move. He tried his best to get up, but nothing answered to his commands.

 

Agni: (Tch... this has to be... sedative... my body isn't responding at all...)

Agni: (N-No... I'm getting... drowzy... but I can't... close my... ey... es...)

 

But his eyes closed. He couldn't feel anything anymore, as if he fell into a deep slumber. The guards reached him and began to take him to their leader...

 

Mirfah

 

BGM: Yukimura Sanada's Theme still playing

 

Mirfah: Good... they're retreating...

 

But before they could truly retreat, Tommy was grabbed by a red knight and being dragged to an alleyway.

 

Mirfah: Tommy!! Get your hands off him, you crazy woman!!

 

With his blades still enhanced, Mirfah went after her. He aimed to an overhead slash...

 

Audience Team

 

BGM: Forest Kingdom -Quiet- (NieR: Automata)

 

They ventured through the forest as Hera explained the situation about the Slums. Elizabeth and Magnum started to get worried about the others.

 

Lize: Look, I know we're supposed to see this Oracle or whatever it is, but what about the others? Shouldn't we head back and get them before we can actually go?

Magnum: They're still haven't returned from the slums yet... I'll try to contact Agni and see if I can know their situation.

 

Magnum used his own communicator, but he couldn't get Agni's signal back. He tried once more, but no response.

 

Magnum: (No response?! Now I'm really getting worried...)

 

In the meanwhile, Seraph began to explain their situation to Yokuman.

 

Seraph: We're heading to another town called Verve in order to see the Oracle. According to the queen, it summoned most of the people here to help in an endeavor which remains unknown. I'm sending you our coordinates if you're going to send reinforcements. *begins to send coordinates data*

Seraph: The others went to the slums in order to investigate why the guards attacked two of our group members. For more detailed informations, you'll have to ask Agni directly. I was actually trying to contact him, but got your signal before I could get his.

 

 

 

 

Agni Artwaltz

After a long slide, Agni finally reached the end of the stairway. He looked back, only to see the guards still at the middle. He managed to get some distance, but still needed to run away. He went towards a route that would take him to the meeting point, but it was long, so it would take a while.

 

Agni: (This seems to be the only way for me to go and I can't go back. I really need to find a way to lose them or this chase will keep going forever.)

 

As he kept running, he saw an abandoned house ahead. He jumped at the open window and hid behind the wall. It was just in the nick of time, because the guards have reached the end of the stairs.

 

Guard #4: Where is he?!

Guard #12: He couldn't have gone too far. Search the perimeter.

 

Each went to a direction while searching for him. Agni kept himself silent, taking breaths every now and then.

 

Agni: (This isn't good. I need to leave this area now. This building won't hide me forever!)

 

He looked at the stairs that led to the building's roof. He quietly crawled to the first step, got up and began to climb it. However...

 

Guard #8: I found him!! Inside this dump!!

Agni: !!

 

He kept climbing them but the guard began to shoot at him. He ducked to evade the bullets and managed to get to the first floor. Soon, he could hear the door being kicked and steps getting closer and closer. He looked at the room and found one thing he could use. However, the danger to execute such plan was enormous.

 

Agni: (If I do this, the building will crumble because of how unstable it is... yet it's the only way I can escape...)

 

He grabbed a gas canister that was lying in the floor, opened and began to spread it throughout the room. Torching the place down and creating a barricade with fire was the only way for him to have a chance to escape. The lives he would risk were big too. After spreading it, he threw towards the direction he came, which startled a guard that reached him.

 

Guard #9: Wah...!! I-I got you now, kid...

Agni: You haven't... and I'm sorry in advance!

 

Agni used a Black Bullet at the trail of gasoline and the moment the bullet touched it, fire began to spread. He kept going upwards the stairs as the guard rushed downwards.

 

Guard #9: R-Retreat! Fire is spreading!!

 

The floor in flames began to crumble apart and the whole foundation of the house began to fall down. On the second floor, Agni jumped from a window that led to the back of the house. After a rowdy landing, he managed to roll back up and kept running as the house finally fell apart.

 

Guard #1: Damn... the kid's better than we thought...

Guard #4: Wait... #9, #10 and #12 aren't here!!

Guard #13: W-We'll look under the rubble! Just go after that damn brat already!

 

Guards #13 and #14 stood behind, looking for the buried members while hoping they were still alive. Five guards left... will Agni escape or he will be caught in this?

Mirfah's blazes seemed to have held them a little. Soon, he noticed that the guard threw another grenade at him.

 

Mirfah: Agh, it's too close...!!

 

But in a quick moment, Tommy grabbed the grenade and threw it back at the guard.

 

Mirfah: Whoo!! Thanks, brother! Now leave that rod idiot to me!!

 

Mirfah rushed at the taser rod guard while shooting waves of flames at his direction.

BGM: We Are Finally Cowboys -Golden Brown Mix- (No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle)

 

Instinctively, Agni rolled forward and managed to evade a bullet coming at him.

 

Agni: That was close! I need to get away from the others as fast as I can. The lesser their risk, the better for me.

Guard #1: Don't let him escape!! Get him!!

Agni: (Yeah, come after me. I want to see how good your bullets are compared to mine!)

 

He kept running as fast as he could, with at least fourteen guards giving chase. He reached a long stairway and stopped.

 

Guard #2: He stopped moving!! Shoot him!!

Agni: Tough luck, pal! Visionary Karma!!

 

The guards begant to shoot at his position but Agni jumped and summoned a rifle. He aimed at a guard's shoulder and shot a bullet. Even with the armor equipped, the bullet penetrated right through it. It hit a shoulder from one guard and the leg of another.

 

Guard #2: A-AAAAGH!! *drops gun*

Guard #5: *kneels* I-It hit my leg...! It's bleeding too much, damnit!!

Agni: Be seeing you on the flipside!

 

He landed on a rail and went down sliding. The guards continued giving chase, with #2 and #5 being treated by #7 and #11.

With Agni away from them, Mirfah joined Yui and battled together with her on the front.

 

Mirfah: Mind if I lend a hand?

 

Mirfah charged his blades. One began to burn with fervor while the other one began to shine brightly.

 

Mirfah: Feel the flames coming from my blades! Ardent Gleam!!

 

Mirfah began slashing around, while trails of fire went through and through towards the guards. Independent of her elemental damage, Yui's attacks would now exert the power of Light and Fire thanks to his skill.

 

Mirfah: Tommy, keep shooting those fireballs and let's give them a literal sensation of hell!

 

Melina

 

Melina: It is a jewel shaped as a 9. I have no idea if it will glow or not, but if we find it, we will be able to purify Miss Emilia.

After the grenades exploded, Mirfah followed Yui to help her. Before he could get too close...

 

Agni: Cura!

 

Agni used his magic to heal everyone since the ambush would mean trouble, especially Hinamori who had to endure a fight before them. Soon, he could see in the distance that guards were coming.

 

Agni: (There will be coming more of them. If this happens, we'll lose even if our attacks are stronger. Alright then... Arsenal, it's time to see what you can do!)

Agni: Listen closely and well! Reinforcements are to come sooner or later, so I'll take them away! You all return to the meeting point and beat any guards coming your way!

Mirfah: But Agni...!!

Agni: If only this time, trust me! I will come back, but we can't stay together any longer! So please, don't follow me!

Agni: Here goes...!! Misdirection Raid!!

 

Agni summoned a machine gun and shot at one side of the guards, one that took to somewhere else instead of the way they came from. They got entirely surprised by the sudden shooting and lost their balance for a moment. He gave his team a last glance and smiled.

 

Agni: Best of luck to you all!!

 

He ran away alone, going even further into the slums as a bait that would allow them to return. Seeing how he progressed, some guards followed him.

 

Mirfah: Agni, wait...!!

 

But before Mirfah could even go after him, the reinforcements Agni mentioned arrived. A few of them stood behind, with all their concentration focused on the solo Agni. Despite he was against it, he had no choice but to follow the plan.

 

Mirfah: Damn it... alright then, I'll take you all on! Let's go, Tommy!

Agni: Good job, Hina! I knew you could do it!

Mirfah: Alright, I guess we should keep moving, but to where?

Agni: Our information seems to be a little sufficient, even if we haven't heard much. Let's return back to the others at the meeting point.

But when Agni turned back to the way they came from, guards were standing there. Their weapons were aimed directly at them.

 

Agni: (Damn it...!!)

 

Mirfah looked at the other way towards the east, in the direction they were heading. However, guards were also there.

 

Mirfah: T-This isn't good! We're surrounded!

Agni: We took too much time...!!

 

Melina

 

Melina: Rest assured it was just a joke. Now then, shall we?

 

Melina opened the door as they went to another room. This time, it looked like an artifact storage.

 

Melina: We need to see if we are able to find a magatama. If we are able to find it, we can have her purified right away. After all, I have the strange sensation that Kirimuri will not be bringing Miss Hinamori that soon.

Agni saw that Tommy got sad that he cancelled his fireball, but it's better that way. However, he knew Byakuya was going to do something.

 

Mirfah: Yeah, Hina!! Blast him off!!

Agni: (This guy is definitely planning something with all of this... she knows that, but is still going on with it. I hope this doesn't end horribly...)

 

Then, when he looked around, he saw a strange guy that seemed to be going towards them. In a way or another, he was similar to someone else...?

 

Agni: (Hold on a moment, who is he? And why he looks... or rather, his aura looks familiar somehow?)

As he tried to contact Agni, another signal was caught. Gladly, it was from an ally Agni told him about.

 

Seraph: ... Yokuman of the Unlimited Force. Huh, so I finally managed to know you. This is Seraph Artwaltz speaking. My brother Agni told me about you and your squad.

 

Melina

 

Melina: No one ever knew about my part in the Intelligence Division. Other than obvious reasons, it was because my father covered me up on that part. In terms, to the people of Bariura I am nothing but an innocent kid.

 

They eventually reached the end of the corridor, with the last three rooms. Melina put her hand on the doorknob, but looked back at Darkflare.

 

Melina: Before we can enter this room, is there anything else you wish to know, Flare? Considering that I am a psychopath to you, even walking near me seems like a risk. Like I have said before, I have nothing to lose here in this world and I have no intention of making you as my enemy.

Melina: Also, differently from that peanut-brained, perverted, foolish "assassin" that Kirimuri is, you are far more mature. This means that I can freely speak without the need of enduring someone going off-topic while looking at my "loli" body. God, how I wished to kill him for saying something so absurd like that...

The fight seemed to be going well. Hina was holding herself quite nicely. However, Tommy threw a fireball at him. Agni summoned one of his dual guns and shot the fireball with his Black Bullet before it could ever get close to Byakuya. The projectiles clashed and vanished.

 

Mirfah: H-Hey, Agni...!!

Agni: I said that's Hina's fight! Don't interfere!

Agni: Wait. Leave this to Hina.

Mirfah: But this "Chelicerata" guy...!!

Agni: Trust me, she'll win. Even if the cards are rigged against you, play until you can no longer bet. That's the reason behind my power... the EXS of Long Belief "Risk Taker".

 

They backed off, giving space to Hinamori. This was her fight, one he was sure she would win.

 

Agni: Hina, don't raise the white flag, no matter what. You'll win against him, I'm sure of it!

The stranger came down upon Hinamori's calling. His arrival brought the presence of a power that Agni knew well.

 

Agni: This is... EXS?!

Mirfah: EXS? What is that?

Agni: It's one of the energies I use. Damn, it seems strong...

 

Agni remembers how he went through all of this. Because his power wasn't controlled enough back in Kalos, it could lead to his own destruction. Thus, after a long search, he submitted himself to a new energy, one that could help him fight without the worry of being destroyed. So it was born... The EXS of Long Belief, "Risk Taker".

 

Agni: Hina, be careful. He has a power destined to kill. I don't know it, but it's strong.

Mirfah: Geh...!!

 

Lucina's explosion surprised them, as she separated Mirfah and Tommy from Agni.

 

Agni: Ahh... thanks. My arm was going to hurt so bad...

 

Then, Yui began to talk. She seemed really stressed with everything that happened between them and it even got her back to the past as well. After listening to her, Mirfah began tearing up as well.

 

BGM: Sis Puella Magica! (Puella Magi Madoka Magica)

 

Mirfah: T-That's not it..!!. I... lost someone... because I was like Tommy... that's why I don't want him to get too close...

Agni: Mirfah...

Mirfah: My whole squad... I lost my whole squad to demons... and he reminds me of... of a partner I had there. He and Agni are so alike that I... I can't help but wanting to protect him!

Mirfah: This was another chance given to me! I can't... waste it...

Agni: ...
 

Mirfah kneeled and cried as well. This had suddenly become a sort of sad moment... but Agni tried his best to comfort them;

 

Agni: You two... I'm not leaving you both behind. But let's make one thing clear. We're protecting each other, I'm not for being protected alone. We're here for each other first and foremost. And also...

 

Agni went towards Yui and smiled at her. He knew that, even if the details weren't at his possession, she went through a lot.

 

Agni: We all lost something that's important to us. However, we can't just stay crying, getting all ahead on the past. You saw me back at the Hangout. I was just like you.

Agni: If you need someone to talk, to deposit your sadness, you can depend on me. I'm here for you all, as a friend.

Mirfah: A... Agni... you...

 

Mirfah got up and looked at them, wiping his tears. It seems the past has gotten the better of him. After seeing Agni once more, he looked back at Tommy.

 

Mirfah: A-Alright, Tommy, I give. I was being hard on you back then... to fix our mistakes together, we'll both protect Agni with our lives!

Mirfah: But if you mess this up, I really won't forgive you! Got it?! *extends his hand*

The presentations done, the theory coming from Yomi and Jude called his attention. But rather than asking them, his mind went back to this other brother.

 

Seraph: ... (I should try to contact Agni and see how he was doing.)

 

As Seraph tried to get a signal from Agni, Elizabeth and Magnum kept hearing the others until she pointed up something.

 

Lize: By the by, now that we're talking on rumors, I got one that was clearly interesting and shocking.

Magnum: What is it?

Lize: I don't know if it's real or not, but I've heard from some guys chatting back in the Hangout that something is going on the slums.

Magnum: What? But that's where the others...!

Lize: I don't know if it's true or if it's dangerous, but that's what I heard. They also said that a whole bunch of guards are there, but they look different from the ones here.

 

Melina

 

Melina: Melina, Sixth Princess of the Bariura Empire, leader of its Intelligence Division. In normal circumstances, I would leave my true identity as a secret, but in this world I have no reason to.

Investigation Team 3 (Agni and Mirfah)

 

Agni felt his arm being pulled by a running Tommy. But before he could be caught and taken away, Mirfah held his arm strongly.

 

Agni: Agh...!!

Mirfah: (You're not taking him...! I'm not risking his life, not like I did with Krantz!)

Agni: E-Enough... I'm not a rope to be used in this tug-of-war...!

 

Melina

 

Melina: Is that so? Well, to be honest, from where I came, angels and gods aren't saviors. They decimated the whole humanity, so I am on edge with those three.

Melina: Those three know my story somehow. I am worried that their mission is to kill us, just like their kin did back then...

 

Investigation Team 3 (Agni and Mirfah)

 

AgnI: What?! Tommy, get down from there this instant! A guard will spot you!

Mirfah: Guess he won't change. We might as well move on. C'mon.

 

Mirfah grabbed Agni's arm tightly, surprising the angel.

 

Agni: M-Mirfah, what are you doing?

Mirfah: If we stay around, we're going to draw attention. Let's go.

Agni: OK, OK, but don't drag me like that.

Mirfah: We don't have time. Hurry, his scream will give us more problems.

 

Without waiting for the others, Mirfah dragged Agni with him to somewhere else. Surely, guards would appear and give them a very problematic situation.

 

Mirfah: (I was unable to save you all... Krantz, Libera, Kafka, Rhoa, Iris, Griff. I'll do a compensation though, and that will be making sure that Agni won't die.)

The commotion would certainly call some attention. Luckily, there weren't guards near the area anymore. Still, the people were looking at the scene they caused. Agni sighed hardly.

 

AgnI: ... I'll just move on and pretend this never happened. You two will resolve this on your own, don't pin this problem into me.

 

Agni moved along, following Yui and Hinamori. Mirfah was surprised: not because of the scream, but because Tommy screamed.

 

Mirfah: So you can scream. Never thought you even understood the concept of rage.

Mirfah: Anyway, that ain't changing my opinion of you so quickly. I still think you're a brat that lives in a colorful world, full of unicorns, rainbows and where you can sing and dance freely. Sad to say, you didn't manage to wake up back to reality yet. But at the very least, I can give you respect. However...

 

Mirfah held Tommy by his collar and looked at him fiercely. The alien boy was a reminder of his past self, something he hated with all of his guts.

 

Mirfah: Don't drag Agni into your little magical place. It's idiots like you that make people like him sacrifice in order to let you living.

 

He pushed Tommy away and went after the others. Mirfah gave him a last look before moving.

 

Mirfah: Since I don't want to cause him more problems, let's not talk with each other, got it? We can TRY to be friends once you fully realize how dire our situation actually is. Keep being that smiling, innocent lunatic if you want, but don't get near me.

 

Mirfah finally walked a little far from Agni and the others. As Hinamori looked at a corner, he noticed what she had found there.

 

Agni: (A gleaming web? What is that?)

 

Audience Team (Seraph, Magnum and Elizabeth)

 

They followed Hera through the castle when she asked for her names.

 

Magnum: Commander Magnum Alexandria of the Multiversal Heaven at your service! But please, no "Mister", "Sir" or something formal. Magnum is just fine.

Lize: My name is Elizabeth Bathory. One day I will be an idol but right now, I'm a Servant under the command of Agni Artwaltz.

Seraph: I'm Seraph Artwaltz, First Archgeneral of the Multiversal Heaven.

 

Melina

 

As Kirimuri left to somewhere, Melina stood alongside Darkflare, who was clearly suspicious of her because she spoke that Emilia's death was an option she'd never mind to use. Still, she wasn't minding it. In fact, his company would be even better to her than the supposed "assassin" she was talking to some seconds ago.

 

Melina: If you wish to do it so, I do not mind. That being said, I do hope we can help each other, Flare.

 

Melina began walking through the corridor as Flare was carrying Emilia with him. She had looked the first four rooms, so she had three left to look.

 

Melina: By the way, can I ask you something? It involves that white-haired angel... what is his purpose for being in this town?

Melina

 

 

Melina: Hmhm... I can definitely see... that you just rambled on without having defining a topic. Considering it was you jumping to something like romance, I am not surprised. After all, I have an idea that the "massage" you needed was going to take a very long while

Melina: And besides, Sir Darkflare, I feel insulted to be called a psychopath. It is not as if I was not looking for a way to not waste knives and a life. I am searching through those rooms after a magatama. There must be one hidden somewhere.

Melina: Well, I guess we can cut our discussion short. I have to keep searching. You are free to accompany me...

 

As she said that, Melina grabbed two knives and threw them near Kirimuri's right side, close to one of his eyes. It grazed on his face, but she did that on purpose. After they hit a wall, she called them back without needing to walk after them.

 

Melina: Oh my. I suppose they slipped out of my hand. I am very sorry, it would be horrible for you to have your eyes stabbed by them. Gladly it was not your mouth.
