Question

Posted

To preface I am a complete and utter beginner to character creation but I cannot for the life of me get my head around setting the palette, whenever I submit a new sprite it creates a new palette for every single one and if I try to change it the colours get jumbled, can someone please explain palettes to me I'm so confused, I use fighter factory 3 and mugen 1.1

I am not really good at explaining things but I'll try my best.

1: Set a default palette that has all the necessary colors (skin, outlines, etc). You can either extract colors using a sprite sheet or manually get sprites and get all the necessary colors.

2: save that palette.

3: whenever putting another sprite, set the "palette" thing to "force the palette color" to the respective color.

I think someone can explain this better than I but that's basically it. I hope this kind of helps either way.

Fighter Factory 3 indexes what is added into a palette.

First you should make 1 Main palette, and add all the colors needed into it.

Palette Number should be 1,1.

Once that's done, make sure every sprite for the Character is using Palette 1,1.

This forces FF3 to adapt the sprites to the colors in the palette, allowing for the character to be displayed properly.

This also allows you to make additional palettes for In-game play, much like an actual Fighting game.
