how to remove pink background from portrait

I just got ps cs6 and I'Ive done portraits before but every time I put the portrait in the character its pink and I don't know how to change it even in game the portrait has the pink background

Seems like you haven't indexed the portraits, you'd need to index it the same way you index a sprite.

I do index the pictures and save them as pcx files is there something I gotta do in ff?

pink probably isn't positioned correctly in the color map/palette.

 

in every program (excluding photoshop where this is reversed) you want the transparent color on the top left. In photoshop, it'll reverse the order they're displayed so it would be the bottom right.

 

mugen will read that as transparent as long as it is indexed.
