Cayne's Top 5: Motive Confused Villains Created By Video Games

Over the past few decades, video games have produced some of the most vicious, maniacal, or bad ass villains ever brain stormed into fiction. Some have even transferred media formats and fleshed out into goofier, weaker, or completely opposite of their video game counter-parts (Fuck You Street Fighter the movie). This list is conspired mostly of villains who have sparked my interest into what makes them tick. I really wanted to do a much larger list because I am a fan of the anti-heroes and ass hole villains. I also wanted to make it short to scale back on saturation. Text time hoe

SEIFER- FINAL FANTASY 8

Seifer_IntroPic_01_zps64202c1c.jpg

Yeah, I said Seifer muthafucker. The seed cadet dropout who took the only black guy in the entire academy and made him his homeboy/head buster. Seifer and his crew gaves two fucks about where they trained and grew up, it was awesome enough for them. Seifer was like “man that sorceress over their wants me to join her and be her knight and shit, Imma hit dat shit brah.” (The Sorceress Edea was the main bad guy for the first half of the game.) Seifer spends the game battling Squall the protagonist the whole game. Now not the deadliest villain ever, his attitude and his lack of loyalty to anyone but his crew earned him a spot, that and he actually has a happy ending. Claim to fame, Seifer got so powerful that he killed the OHKO Odin Aeon/Esper/Summon/Guardian Force with his own move. My exact reaction was “WTF” because I totally thought I had managed to OKHO a boss character. Fuck you square.

M. Bison – Street Fighter Franchise

M. Bison’s origin tweaks itself every few years, so to make this easier I will delve closer to capcom canon. M. Bison whose name makes zero since in America because his name is Vega, wanted the ultimate form of mental and spiritual power. In order to achieve it he had to purge all the purity from his soul and harbor only the power of Darkness. This varies each incarnation, the Street fighter manga and Alpha series has the pure energy manifesting into the Rose Character, the 2nd Street fighter movie says he had to kill his baby or something it was dumb, and the first movie was Raul Julia so what the fuck were they thinking when Gomez Addams came to audition. Anyway, Bison was forming his Shadowloo army before and during the first World Warrior tournament and doesn’t chronologically appear until the Street Fighter alpha series which takes place between SF 1 & 2. His power is beyond nearly the entire SF line up and technically Akuma is the only warrior powerful enough to kill him. This literally makes him the strongest MF on the planet because Akuma doesn’t really give a shit about him or what he does. This means that a chick who can breakdown a tank with her legs is nothing to him, not even Ryu and that’s my dude. Claim to fame, Even though the movie sucked, The Legend of Chun-li had a truly evil Bison. For those who haven’t seen it because it sucks, The scene is of Bison hitting a heavy bag while talking to Balrog. The Camera is on Balrog the whole time until the final shot of the scene which reveals that Bison’s heavy bag was actually a woman chained upside down. Fucking brutal man.

DR. Robotnik – Sonic the Hedgehog franchise

Robotnik_Profile_zpsb2f0507f.jpg

Dr. Robotnik is fucking Uber Hitler with a techno-fetish. Their are several different versions of Robotnik as well as his nemesis sonic, but they all have the same concept. Evil genius enslaves the creatures of Mobius by turning them into robots. The original Robotnik from the games spent a few years working on the death egg, before apparently dying in Sonic 3 and knuckles essentially ending the classic sonic era. Sonic adventure Robotnik is more ambitious about his world domination goals and starts looking for doomsday weapons. SA era Robotnik depicts many moments in which he tries to kill sonic by extreme measure as well as blowing up the earth, but the most bad ass Robotnik was Robotnik prime. The Archie universes Robotnik achieved his goal of world domination and enslaving the world. He was also a general and would fight sonic hand to hand. He ends up dying due to sabotage, but returns to meet an android version of himself in the form of SA Eggman. Claim to fame goes to the Archie Robotnik robotizing and enslaving almost every major character (including Sonic in the past) and going as far as to give them to Dr. Wily to be modified.

Albert Wesker – Resident Evil Franchise

wesker_zps1363f566.jpg

Wesker's introduction in Resident Evil 1 was awful, tricking gamers into over looking one of the biggest villains in the series. His history is long and complicated so I will just bare bones this guy. Wesker was genetically designed to be a perfect host for the T-Veronica Virus but his intellect made him unpredictable. After infiltrating the Raccoon city PD stars unit. Wesker sets up an experiment to see how B.O.W's would perform against a specially trained unit. After his apparent death by Tyrant, Wesker was resurrected by an experimental virus he took sometime in the mansion. He goes on to be re-occurring nuisance in several in 4 more titles in the RE time line before finally revealing his motive of world domination by eliminating those in power with mass genocide. Wesker's power is the strongest of any resident evil enemy. He literally is a mix of Superman and Wolverine,, with a unique genetic trait to be immune to most viruses including the T-Virus such as Alice from the films. Super Speed, Strength, Invulnerability, Healing factor, extremely high IQ, it is amazing that he didn't kill Chris back in Code Veronica. His movie counter part (along with everyone else) was dumb-ed down severely and didn’t seem too intelligent. His appearance in MvC 3 however granted him a pardon because that guy is beast made incarnate. Claim to Fame was making Jill Valentine his personal slave for a year, while leaving her aware of everything she was doing. Bastard, Imma Jill fan mutherfucker

Mathis Cronqvist – Castlevania series

My favorite take on the iconic Vampire Dracula, Mathis wanted revenge on GOD for allowing his wife to die while he was in service to him. In order to this he had to become a vampire by using the crimson stone, but not just any vampire, he had to be the strongest. In order to do this he had to steal the souls of other vampires which led him into tricking his long time friend and fellow knight Leon Belmont, who was able to wield the Vampire Killer. Once the strongest was defeated and consumed Mathis flies off cursing the Belmont Clan with the task of slaying him for centuries. Mathis history is long that I will leave it at that since their isn’t many other formats you see him in. Claim to Fame – He made death itself his bitch, which is why it is a reoccurring villain.

Karnov from Fighters History.

Hero in his own game on the NES, returns years later as the last boss in Fighters History.  Never found backstory if there is one.  Anyone?

And yes the RE movies suck worse than seeing mouth motiviated porno.
