Kasasagi reacted to JayceValentine in Welcome to MFFA! Introduce yourself here!
Greetings! You can call me Jayce.
I've been in the MUGEN scene ever since I was in highschool 16 years ago, but I've just now started to really take creating things seriously.
I'm an aspiring VA and a digital/traditional artist, and I occasionally dabble in toy photography as well!
Happy to be here!

Kasasagi reacted to jrm1007 - Rin in Why IKEMEN is NOT the future people think it is... for now anyways
I know this thread is nearly a year old but I'd still like to throw my 2 cents in.
"First off, it is compatible with MORE devices and systems than IKEMEN. The fact that I can't even run IKEMEN on my phone, yet I am able to play PS Vita games and Xbox 360 games on my phone, says a lot about how poorly handled IKEMEN has been."
Ikemen GO is using an entirely different coding platform from MUGEN, it's in the name. There's a chance the Coding Platform has compatibility issues with the Consoles in question. However, unlike MUGEN which was closed source, Ikemen Go's Open Source nature will make porting much more easy in the future, since you won't have to waste thousands of hours trying to open it up.
"It takes a LOT of effort to pursue something new, that is either currently DEAD (Knuckle Fighter), DYING (2D Fighter Maker 2nd), or BARELY ALIVE (IKEMEN). People who have devoted years of their life, are NEVER going to move to IKEMEN unless absolutely necessary for a VERY SPECIFIC feature."
"Thirdly, if characters made in MUGEN are COMPATIBLE with IKEMEN, then coding MUGEN characters is still the better option, because then they are compatible with MUGEN as well, making them MORE LIKELY to be used in the first place."
Even if they don't make Ikemen GO exclusive content, they can still make the switch. I've played WinMUGEN, 1.0, and 1.1b, speaking from experience, Ikemen GO has to be the most stable of all four I've used. Very minimal crashes or bugs for that matter, I'm sure many others can agree. Not only that but it also has support for features that were broken in 1.0/1.1b, such as FreqMul. On top of also having support for 1.0/1.1b features, including the 1.1b SFF, OpenGL Render, and recently now having Vulkan support.
Sure they may not be making EXCLUSIVE content, they still make the switch regardless because Ikemen GO provides a much more stable experience, and you won't have to play in fear of crashing from simply playing the Arcade Mode.
"Also, the fact that we can't use cheap characters AT ALL, makes IKEMEN even more lame. Hell, there are winMUGEN patches that let me use 1.0 characters on them and even ways to downgrade 1.0 and 1.1 characters back to winMUGEN simply by editing some code."
First off, it's called "Cheapie" not "Cheap" saying Ikemen Go is bad because you can't win a match within 5 seconds is completely absurd. Second. WinMUGEN having 1.0/1.1b downgrade patches is not relevant to your current point. You're just throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks.
I'd go over more points, but it seems everyone else here beat me to it.

Kasasagi reacted to AriesTheFool in Welcome to MFFA! Introduce yourself here!
Hello, Am AriesTheFool, I just recently completed a Beta release of my 2nd ever Screenpack Red Magic Reborn. I plan to share it here as soon as possible. But since this is an introduction I'll share a few facts about myself.
1. I have Psychosis where I hear an audio hallucination of a bully like voice, thankfully am on meds and this has become less of an issue for me, in fact when am "In the Zone" I never here that voice. 2. Am also a bit of a loner, I mostly seek out creative projects to keep me busy. Mugen Dev stuff is just another one of those projects right now. 3. I was also born on April 1st, so am an Aries who happens to be a fool, thus my username, though in other places like Steam I tend to go be Technicalgerm8 or similar. I've lurked on this site a few times so I figured I should give back with my own content for the game. Thanks for having me. 😄

Hi everyone. I first messed around with M.U.G.E.N. back in 2007 and ended up stopping when I ran out of room for characters on my hard drive. I just started thinking about it again and here I am, now putting the game on a much bigger drive then the one I had in 2007. I'm just checking out all the stuff that's been added since that time.

Same guy, just with a name I used on Twitch when I watched SpriteClub for the first time and met some pretty neat folks there!
As always, I'll say something when I find something cool on the site.

Kasasagi reacted to OroCrimson in IKEMEN Generations Screenpack for IKEMEN Go 0.99 (HD 1280 x 720) by OroCrimson (Updated 3/07/2023)
Warning: This Screenpack only works with IKEMEN Go version 0.99 set up with a 16:9 resolution! This is not designed to work on MUGEN.
I said I'd do it 4 months ago and I finally got around to it. This is a remaster of my MUGEN Generations screenpack, but for IKEMEN. While I kept the core simplistic design of the original, I wanted to correct what I considered to be some egregious errors as well as create all new health bars that look a lot more polished than the original, and take advantage of a lot of IKEMEN Go's additional features. Most especially, I wanted to let the user install this cleanly rather than providing it with a full MUGEN install like I did before.
Features:
-A category-based screenpack, something I haven't seen for IKEMEN yet.
-Literally infinite character slots, believe it or not.
-Unlike MUGEN category-based select screens, it doesn't rely on an "invisible grid" that makes switching categories confusing.
-Really cool custom made lifebars based on KOF 2002
-Support for IKEMEN's additional features and modes.
Known jank:
This screenpack uses IKEMEN's shared slot feature to allow for infinite character slots. This does create a few eccentricities not found in the MUGEN version however:
-When toggling through characters in a category, it'll change that slot for both players. It's best for both players not to browse the same category at the same time.
-When returning to the character select screen, rather than the cursor remembering what character you last chose, it'll instead be on the first character of the category you chose.
-There is no sound effect when switching between characters in the same category.
There is nothing I can do to fix these issues, as that's just how the engine works with this feature at this time.
WARNING: The select.def used is located under data/ikegen/select.def. Do not use data/select.def, it won't work. Read the instructions in data/ikegen/select.def for how to add characters in the unique way this screenpack requires.
Update 1.0.2 - Updated for 0.99. That's the only change. If you're using 0.98.2, stick to version 1.0.1 (Found on AK1).
Update 1.0.1 - Fixed a pretty big bug, regarding the options menu. In version 1.0, scrolling down a long options list like in Game Options would cause the VS logo to appear in the top right of the menu. I realized I missed a component for that menu and have adjusted accordingly. Now small arrows appear when the list is bigger than what's on screen. If you're updating from version 1.0, you only need to replace system.def.
