When she saw his enrage, Melina became a cluster of butterflies and returned back to the debris, sitting on a rock as if everything have ended.

 

Melina: I see... so the word "worthless" triggers a bad memory in you and rage takes over...

 

She had an idea the world sees her as nothing but a cruel girl that takes all as her playthings. However, somehow, Melina managed to sympathize with Kirimuri. She let out a sigh and looked at him.

 

Melina: ... Enough. I am tired of this. Victory is yours. I may not be the best person ever, but I know the moments when I have to stop.

Melina: I liked to play with you because I find intriguing how you derived from your usual calm, lacklusting demeanor to someone who raised an inner desire to kill. Besides, when a girl has her body stared by a man, is it not normal for her to act in self-defense?

Melina: ... Jokes aside, I know the feeling of being worthless. I abandoned Bariura for that very reason. You may have received love from your parents when you were younger, but I never did. All the king wanted was to dominate demonic power and I was just one of his "little" tools to do it so. When I stopped being useful to him, he tossed me away. And then I left.

 

She giggled a little, and returned to smile.

 

Melina: Hehe... I do not know why, but losing seems satisfying today. If I had won, maybe things would have been worse.

Melina: Now, as your prize, what would you like me to do? Seeing if I can get you a back massage or do you wish for me to hunt a beautiful maiden so you can date with her?

Kirimuri snaps out of his rage and becomes calm again.

"Oh."

He sits down on a pile of debris nearby and lets out a sigh.

"Listen... When people calls me worthless, they aren't completely wrong. Since I was a kid, I was extremely dependant on my parents... I never really excelled nor failed at anything. When my family was killed, I just simply ran away without looking back."

"Sometimes I thought to myself... What would have happened if I never got this power? What would I have become today? If luck never smiled at me, I would have never become what I am right now. Maybe I wouldn't be alive at this point."

"The only way I coped with the past is to ignore it. I didn't forget it and I never will. I just simply ignore it and move on. What's happened has happened. Time is indifferent but it can be ultimately generous as well."

"When you told me of your past, I didn't give two damns or a fuck. I prefer judging people by their present actions rather than judging them by what they did in the past."

Kirimuri stands up and stretches his back for a bit.

"Anyways, we should be heading back now. I'd love to have a nice back massage after this."

Kirimuri panics as soon as Melina appears on top of him, but that word echoed in his ear. It reminded of his tragic past...

???: "Worthless animal. You have no right to stay on the same land like us! If you're willing to lick my shoes then smash your head with this rock, I might be considerate enough to give you a few pennies..."

???: "I might find some use for you worthless trash. Perhaps your fine physique and your decent face can be valuable... in the brothel."

Those harsh sentences were a part of his emotional scars...

"Say that again."

Being already tired and dizzy, that single word completely enraged him. Kirimuri took off his coat, mask and hat and prepares for his ultimate attack...

"This is the final straw..."

The assassin is prepared to bring Melina down with him; he didn't care whether she had 15 knives or a million knives flying straight at him. The only thing in his mind right now is to bring her down.

"SAY. THAT. AGAIN. I DARE YOU."

His rational, reasonable and logical self is still there... But the anger has pushed him off his limits, and he's going to take risks...

It's as she foretold. Her attack put her into a tight spot. In the instant they got close, he disappeared in the smoke and left her blind.

She wasn't able to see anything, the fog being too thick for her to even see the ground clearly. In the moment she could see something, two blinking lights appeared next to her. However, this was far from being a good sign.

 

Melina: B-Bombs?! No... his batons...!!

 

She tried to run, but bullets came towards her directions. She managed to evade them, but that stopped her from doing anything to escape the batons, which exploded in the next moment. Melina was sent back to the debris, the force making her go inside it.

"Did I got her? ...Nice. Hehehe."

Kirimuri approaches the debris where Melina is sent flying to and pulls her out from the carcasses of the collapsed house. He holds her back-to-belly, lifts her carefully... then does a back-crushing suplex on her.

"Take that, you spoiled brat. That's for gazing knives past my face multiple times and poking my cheek with a sharp knife while I was asleep. Pss."

She leaped and covered herself with knives. They began to spin around her uncontrollably, as if they were protecting her like a shield. She rushed at Kirimuri. In her mind, however, she knew something of the sort would fail.

Kirimuri throws a Smokescreen at Melina which completely covers the princess and her knives, then uses Sublimation to transform into a cloud of smoke right before the shielding knives hit him, which allows the duelist to go through the cloud of smoke covering Melina without getting any physical contact. He reappears behind her and prepares his smoke-infused twin batons...

"Two smoked wieners coming at ya..."

Next, he throws his twin batons, infused with smoke and ready to explode, at the cloud of smoke. Without a clear vision, the ex-Bariuran assassin will not be able to know where the attack is coming from.

Kirimuri takes his snubbed revolver out, aims it at the princess and shoots 6 rounds of stun-ammos in 6 different directions, all heading at the cloud of Smokescreen.

"...Accompanied with 6 exquisite olives. And that's all for the main dish."

Suddenly, the assassin in black becomes a bit dizzy and loses his balance. He sits down and tries to rest.

(Dammit, I'm starting to become a bit dehydrated...)

He charges smoke into his twin batons and starts charging at Melina. However, this isn't attack he is planning to use. This is merely a feint...

Melina had a slight idea of what he was doing. Those sorts of provocations meant one thing: he was luring her into a trap.

A window stood close to her, leading to the building where he entered to trick her. Still with Fortra Lamina active, Melina recovered her knives and instantly threw them inside. They kept rebouncing through the walls and roof, going at fast speeds yet unnacurate directions.

 

As soon as Kirimuri enters the building, Melina's knives follow him and bounce off the walls in the house. This proved tricky for the duelist as the house is particularly small, which makes the knives rebounce and change directions faster. One of the knives flashes by the top of his head and makes his hat fall down. He quickly picks it up and heads to the second floor of the building.

(Oh shit, oh shit, don't ruin my hair you brat...)

The man in black tried to come up with a backup plan.

(Now, if I can blow a big and nice cloud of smoke which connects to the other cloud of smoke outside I used for distraction...)

Kirimuri takes his e-cig out, proceeds to vape and then blows a big cloud of smoke downstairs, attempting to use Kumomi. He removes the battery and heads to the balcony of the second floor. He jumps outside and lands on a wider alley. He prepares the battery of his e-cig...

"A little boom wouldn't hurt..."

...and throws it into the house. It triggers the cloud in the first floor and causes a massive explosion which collapsed the abandoned house. The explosion chains with the other cloud of smoke in the dead end and causes a bigger explosion.

Samael Eater missed Kirimuri as he went to a lone corridor. Melina followed him, with a little of guess about his idea.

Melina: A cornered rat... Fortra Lamina!

 

A blue aura emerged over Melina. She used a magic to boost the speed of her knives, even though they would be less accurate. She threw them at the walls, as they rebounded mny times to reach Kirimuri

The knives quickly fly at Kirimuri and graze past his head and shoulder.

"This is horrifying..."

However, his plan is working as Melina is chasing him from behind. If he could lure her into a smaller area he would be able to use his power in the most efficient way.

He arrives at a dead end of the backstreet. A broken window of a nearby abandoned house piqued his eyes. He thought of a strategy to go behind Melina by the house and put her to sleep before suplexing her.

"Come faster, goddammit! Are all assassins from Bariura like this?"

He throws another Smokescreen at the dead end, which also covers the window of the house. He uses Sublimation again and slowly goes into the building by the window, in attempt to sneak behind the princess' back and launch a surprise attack.

Her knives have been deflected easily as the staff came quickly towards her. Melina jumped with a sommersault in a northwest direction. She had an idea that the staff would function like a boomerang, so she had to stay out of the way. She called her knives back, without the need to run towards them. She descended and quickly prepared a counter attack.

Melina's Battle Properties
Melina fights mainly with her knives. She is quick and hard to be caught, making that deadly in a fight. She mainly throws knives while leaving a scarlet one for her close combat needs. Due to her being involved with magic, she can call her knives back without running towards them. Also, she can create red butterflies that can become knives.

 

Brave Frontier: Skill List

 

• ·         Blood Lamina (Brave Burst): Melina calls upon a killer aura to boost her power. Knives lose speed, but are more accurate and gain a homing effect.

   

• ·         Fortra Lamina (Brave Burst): Melina calls upon a tactical aura to boost her power. Knives are faster and pierces through shields, but are less accurate.

   

• ·         Samael Eater (Brave Burst): Melina arranges her knives like a jaw and sends them enveloped in a monster-like aura. Has chance to cause bleeding if it hits.

   

•          First Extinction (Super Brave Burst): Melina surrounds herself with knives and rushes at the enemy while they spin frenetically. Reduces enemy’s attack power if it hits.

   

• ·         Last Extinction (Super Brave Burst): Melina disappears in a flock of red butterflies. She reappears above the enemy, descending at it with her knives. Reduces enemy’s defensive power if it hits

   

• Deimos (Ultimate Brave Burst): Melina clouds everything with darkness. With a finger snap, thousands of blades begin to slash everything around it. She finishes with a powerful slash at the air. Causes huge bleeding and greatly reduces defensive power if it hits.
• Bloody Burial Blade (Passive Skill): Melina's passive skill. Considerably boosts the power of Samael Eater, First and Last Extinction.

Melina: It is my turn now... Samael Eater!

 

She arranged her knives in a jaw-like formation and covered them with a dark magic aura. With a single gesture, Melina sends it towards Kirimuri, as the knives opened and closed as if they were ready to devour him whole.

The flying staff misses Melina and ends up crashing on a pile of debris before exploding.

Seeing that going forward to face her attack would be suicide, while moving backward would force him to flee from the attack and tire himself faster, Kirimuri decided to pull out his twin batons and proceeds to use Sublimation to dodge the attack and move into a torn-down building on his left in order to come up with a plan.

(Knives... ranged attacks... high mobility... I can either play safe by going south and camp or just lure her into my narrow places and gently put her to sleep...)

After a few seconds of reflecting, the black duelist decided to go with the latter and go into a small alley in attempt to lure her into narrow places.

*whistles* "HEY, PURPLE LOLI!"

He uses Smokescreen and leaves behind a cloud of smoke before fleeing to a more narrow street, near a dead end.

Kirimuri VS Melina

 

Their arena looked like a destroyed town. Everything was in shambles, falling apart. It's as if this was the bad future of a beautiful land.

 

BGM: Soul Eater of the Abyss (Touhou Tougenkyuu ~ Riverbed Soul Saver)

 

Melina: Well then, let us begin! Kirimuri, come and show me the nightmare you are able to create!

 

The young princess begin her move by simply throwing knives at him. She had no expectation of her tools to hit, but this was just the beginning. There was no need for her to take it so seriously right now.

Kirimuri deflects the knives without any problem. He channels smoke into his staff and prepares for his attack.

"You threw knives... I'll throw this!"

He spins his smoked staff and unexpectedly flings it at the princess, attempting to force the princess to make physical contact with it in order to make it explode. The staff flies straight at Melina like the rotors of a copter.

Kirimuri heads to the lower level of the hangout and enters the arena where he and Melina are going to have a fight. He prepares his staff as soon as he enters the place and points it at Melina.

"... I can't think of anything badass to say. Oh well let's just start the fight then. Good luck."

Kirimuri approaches one of the Mech-Hisui.

"Excuse us... We reserved one of of the arenas before. We'd like to use it now."

Kirimuri glares irritatedly at Melina.

She picked one of her knives and put it near to his face. It was a little cold, so she positioned it right next to his cheek.

Kirimuri's slumber is suddenly disrupted by the cold, sharp edge of the knife poking at his cheek. He immediately wakes up and jumps from his seat in a startled manner.

"Whoa what the fuck...?"

"Excuse me... Do you have any free arenas at the moment? I'd like to reserve one place for later."

Kirimuri passes by the bank and exchanges 40 silver coins for 100 Pompadillions before heading to the hangout a moment later. He approaches the counter and asks:

"Excuse me... I'd like to reserve one arena for a duel."

She pointed her knife at him. Melina was feeling herself bored of playing this investigative work, so she needed to discharge it immediately.

 

Melina: I want to see up close how you are able to fight. Also, this will be a display for you to see how I work. So, will you accept or will you deny it... better phrasing it, "chicken out"?

"I'm starting to feel concerned of my privacy zone here... Oh well, I can't back off right now. Challenge accepted."

The nun proceeded to forcefully push Flare away with a light energy emitting from her hands with enough power to send Flare flying across the room.

Kirimuri laughs hysterically after seeing Flare getting blown away by Emilia.

"Heheheheheheh..." *Wipes tears from his eyes* 

Kirimuri approaches Flare and pulls him up from the debris. He turns to Hinamori and expresses his gratitude.

"Anyways, I'd like to thank you for helping us free the spirit from the nun... And allowing me to watch that guy fly... Heheheheheheh..."

"I'm gonna head back to the hangout first then. Maybe I'll join a fight to blow off some steam..."

Flare then proceeded to land a solid punch to Kirimuri's face.

 

"THAT'S FOR ABANDONING US WITHOUT LETTING US KNOW TO BEGIN WITH!"

Kirimuri stands up after falling down from getting punched in the face, then he proceeds to charge at Darkflare and do a clean, solid dropkick at his chest.

"DID I ASK YOU TO DRAG ME BACK HERE AFTER PASSING OUT OVER AND OVER AGAIN?"

A few moments later, Kirimuri and Hinamori arrive at the church by the sewers. The former goes inside first and finds Darkflare and Melina, still looking for the magatama to free the spirit from the nun.

"...You guys still haven't found the magatama yet? I brought the spirit whisperer in the meantime. Beat that."
