Crasherfly Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Hey all, as debuts comes to a close it felt fitting to bring back a popular thread from the old forums- reactions to debuts! What were some of your highlights? Favorite surprises? I'll start us off! I was surprised to see Ultraman Neos struggle so much out of the gate. I had him set for low 4th and he ended up decidedly in lower-mid 5th. Nice to see him still place within tournament range though for rated. Be sure to drop into this thread every debuts to tell us about your favorites and see live reactions from our other community members!
Shinykitty10 Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 Debuts this weekend was very fun, I just wish I was around to see more of it (especially Sunday)... From what I got to see, my favorite characters were Puchiko, Brider EX, Er-Lang-Shen, Souei CKOFM, the Variable Geo AI patches, Shura, Zayra, and Failnaught. I'd like to see more of the SKM characters, the Mega Man 8 bosses, Retro 8-Bit Akuma, Pororo EX, Mahoro, and Tamao. My sends this time were Eas, Dead Apostle Noel_D, and Ashes of the Dead. As for the new character showcase bracket, I think it went well for the most part, aside from a few moments. I was surprised to see Wild Wolf EX make it to finals, though Pekomaru_D making it to the end was something I expected. Next time, I'll try and use the character suggestion format rather than division vote format, but it'll depend on how much spare time I have once debuts is over.
BunYipYipYip Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 This past weekend's debuts had some absolute treasures. Below273's finished versions of old STG characters felt spot-on, and his edit of Kemono Friends was easily in my top 3 of all new characters. I had tested the original version previously, and was heartbroken that it was too... just too... to get onto the roster, but thanks to his edit, Serval's presence grows. DaMarioMemer's AI patched CVS Clark was great. I admire the way Clark's patch didn't seem to take away from the original version or disregard weaker moves - everything is still there, just with more braincells. It's refreshing to see AI patches that keep the integrity of the character instead of turn it into a stronger yet watered-down/overly optimized version of itself. Kairi's Giraffe was very... Kairi. Which is always a good thing. And of course, my favorite was Nanachi's Legend Olimar. My reasoning is incredibly biased - Nanachi made my favorite character (Akiha-J) and it warmed my heart to know that they are still active and putting out new, unique content. Now if only I could figure out whether they have a blog where I can follow their progress...
Goose Howard Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 juh is god. juh is life. I'll give them that. NovaMagnolia be delivering bangers as always ever since she brought Pencil from BFDI to M.U.G.E.N.
BunYipYipYip Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 I didn't get to watch most of this past weekend's debuts. Of the characters I did see, the standouts were: Videl Fight Money - SO glad Laharl helped her find her way to SC. Missed watching this dumb punch machine. Amaterasu-R Preposterous Bonobono Jirachi PMD Bagelfloss - I do not understand this meme, even though someone linked one of the Brental Floss songs in chat. Regardless, it's so dumb and wonderful to watch.
Shinykitty10 Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 We got a lot of really fun stuff this debuts. I feel like if I were to list out everything I liked, it'd be at least half of the total from this weekend. Some things that I was particularly excited for were mer's characters, Rosalia Velvetta, and Ikats CKOFM, but I also ended up really liking Forla's Spheres characters, Yuiran_T, Gikoneko EX, Orochi-HY, and of course Bagelfloss. I wish I had gotten to see more of Waha_A and SB Mai. My sends this time around were the KSD trio, the LG duo, Tsujigiri Baiken, Bang Shishigami BBTag, and Cure Remilia, who I'm still very proud of despite her strangeness. As for the new character showcase bracket, I was surprised to see how much love it got so quickly! We broke 32 characters in suggestion within an hour of the initial posts in my forum and the SC discord, which was really exciting. Hopefully the tournament(s) themselves will be just as fun!
Shinykitty10 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Wheeee first post in here in the new year! My favorite characters for this month... I think it's a tie between Jaguarandi, Konn, and Meguru. I also really liked Chickenheart Tewi, Kyouko KF, Cirno-W, and Kurosawa. I wish I had gotten to see more of Clark N.W and Joseph the Dinosaur; Joseph in particular looked pretty funny from the one or two fights I caught with him. My only send this time was Northern White-Faced Owl, who thankfully seemed to be pretty well-liked. Hopefully I'll have my testing roster all ready to go again soon by the time next debuts rolls around...
TheMarioMeter Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Despite the rough start with the 2 hour delay. These debuts are up there as one of my favorites and definitely my favorite of this year so far, solely due to how much fun characters I saw as well as Mitsu's custom tourney's in between. Notable character highlights for me are: Bart Simpson, Grox KV, Hakkon, Haohmaru SSV, Mad Piano, Mahiro Todou, Old School Megaman, Pencil (as well as Peam-cil), CVS2 God Rugal, Goah, Ivysaur, Ultimate Kars, R.O.B. Niko Bellic, Pu-ko, Tifa, Meta Knight Mythos, MVC Sasuke, Blastoise, Keyfear, Johnny Cage NG, Rayma, Sakura with Stature problems, Shark Robot and of course Sumire. So yeah, quite a lot. My sends that debuted are Brian 98, Carol Stanzack, Crescent Akiha and Satsuki, Nakoruru mm, Suika hsts and Washio Sumi. While I could've done a better job tuning Carol and Nakoruru's settings and Wahio being a lot stronger than I anticipated. I'm pretty happy with how all of them turned out. So yeah! loved this debut session overall and I can't wait for the next one!
Shinykitty10 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I'm very thankful for having been able to catch as much of debuts as I did this weekend -- I may have been one of the lucky few to have benefited from the DST delays, LOL. My favorites this time around were Keyfear, Pu-Ko, Sakura with Stature Problems, Nakoruru mm, Fang, Pencil, Carol, Noxstellia, and Outworld Emperor. Keyfear and Pu-Ko were adoptions from the F Div "adoption service" I run in the Discord, and I was able to help a bit with Pencil's progress as well, so those three definitely hit a little closer to home for me than the others. Sakura and Fang are both characters where you can see how much work and how much love was put into them as they fight, and I really enjoy that - Sakura's got a lot of fun stuff in her moveset that's really fun to spot, and Fang is a feat of the engine, I feel. Noxstellia and Outworld Emperor were both things I was really looking forward to after I saw them release, and Nakoruru and Carol are just cool. My sends this time were Yuichiro, Haohmaru SS5, Sumire the Senbonsaki, and Mahiro Todou; Sumire is my favorite of the bunch that debuted, and I'm really glad people really seemed to like her, too. Maybe next time her friend in the pool will finally join her...
BunYipYipYip Posted March 18 Posted March 18 The first day of debuts was the greatest day of debuts. Akiha Tohno, the Best Girl followed a mere ~45 minutes later by the Amgis patched version of Crescent Akiha Tohno AACC? So good. Aside from those two, I also really enjoyed Keiichi Ikori Rajaa Chun-Li with DMM AI Valete Sumire the Senbonsaki CVS2 God Rugal (Is it poor taste to say so considering that I sent it? I don't care.) He was a bit unpredictable - such great damage IF he doesn't die before getting to use it. But that's what I like about him. I didn't send anything this time around, but a few of mine from the January debuts were still lingering in the pool - CVS2 God Rugal and MVC Rouge did show up. Miyukaka and Kinito still await their debut. Hopefully they'll get to have fun in the pool in April!
Sergio P Posted March 18 Posted March 18 This month's debuts were awesome!! It had a good start which is also awesome. My fav new characters were: Mad Piano, Bart Simpson, Vice Presidente, the new Pencil, Mahiro Todou, Noxstellia, Luciel, Kamen Rider Saga, Pu-Ko, Politank Z, Sakura with Stature Problems, and Outworld Emperor. The only send of mine that got in is... Hakkon! Despite it's meant to be a JUS, it barely feels like one lol. Reborn as a Vending Machine was a wild anime watch to me (watched it secretly when it came out until the end of it since it looked pretty silly) and seeing Hakkon now in MUGEN got my attention. Anyways, debuts were good and I'm excited for the next one byeeee
TheMarioMeter Posted April 7 Posted April 7 In terms of characters. I quite liked these debuts! Some notable Highlights to me are: Special Rapid Yokohama, muh, Moyomoto, Kos-Mos, Roy Mustang PN, White Raymoo, Kodachi, Asuka G.Z, Zinc X, HoShimo Miyabi, Queen Beryl, Fezard, Kagura, Nobuko, Hidari, Wendy, Kyo Kasai and of course Noel. I was asleep for quite a few hours during some parts so I'm probably missed even more. Only a few of my sends from other creators showed up this time being: Mr. Big, Jiren, the maids and Full Moon Akiha. Something worth noting is that I was actually the first one to win the prio lottery this debuts and I chose Akiha for my pal BunYipYip.
Shinykitty10 Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Pretty great debuts this weekend in terms of characters. Everything I was particularly excited to see showed up, which I'm really happy about! My favorites this time were Queen Beryl, HoShimo Miyabi, KOS-MOS CSW, Cassiopeia, SFV Zeku, Serenade, Moyomoto, and Asuka G.Z. I wish I had gotten to see more of Kiryuin Satsuki, Nikaido Moriyoshi, and Noel Aizome - particularly Satsuki, since hatya is an author I have a soft spot for. My sends this time were Taboo Hunter, Fezard the Tempest, and Kyo Kasai -- they were all characters I was very happy to finally see on the site, and I'm glad people seemed to really love them.
