Trouble with screen packs.

Been having a lot of trouble with the screen packs. I've tried several, and whenever I add a character, he or she would just be a vacant spot. I can't click where the character should be to play him. Anyway, I'm getting very frustrated, I followed every step the tutorials gave me. The screens were correct, but I just can't add characters. I put the character in the char folder and select file. I have no problem adding characters when it's the original 60 slots, but I need more, someone help me please?

Is the character compatible with the MUGEN version?

Did you made a typo somewhere?

Which screenpack did you use?

Which select.def file did you use? Some screenpacks has their select.def file in the screenpack folder instead of the normal select.def one you see in the data folder

For example, I'm using MUGEN World Warriors X : Black Edition screenpack. The REAL select.def file that lets you add characters is in the WWXBE (the screenpack's data folder) inside your MUGEN's data folder.

Yes, I tried that, and each character I've downloaded worked fine before I downloaded any screenpacks. I've honestly tried about 5 different ones, Including EVE, and Heaven and Hell. No typos. I remember in the tutorial, it told me to replace said select and system files, which I did. Should I just use the ones that come in the screenpack folder without replacing the other ones? Can I do that?

 

Edit: Tried EVE again. Still no luck. Literally replaced every file with the ones that came in the pack. Nothing. Somehow, Kung Fu Man is selectable even when he isn't typed into the select file. Any characters I type into the select file don't show up, and I can't figure out why. The character's files are in the char folder, and they are typed in the select file, where randomselect used to be. Again, screens work fine. I have the 800 slots I want, but can't seem to fill them...what am I doing wrong?

 

Edit: Fucking found it! FINALLY!!! There was like 20 different select files that the pack gave me, I went in and changed every single one until my character was finally visible. Pain in the ass, but I got it. You can take this down now. Really appreciate you trying to help. I'm off to download more fighters!!
