tehdevil Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Hi, lets say you downloaded a sprite pack from Kong's website https://www.mediafire.com/?84orz89rc78zg where it is very different from the sprite that is shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=177&v=yMRjrtY6x3E and you would like to make a palette for it which is required for Mugen to be able to read the image in Mugen. Since there are many ways to do it, the first way is to make a palette for a single sprite, then apply that palette to all other sprites which is Elecbyte's method: http://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs-11b1/tutorial1.html and the second way is to put all sprites into a big blank image sheet with the background color being the mask color of the sprites using Corel PaintShop Pro X6 or Photoshop, then make a palette for the big sheet with all the sprites in it which is similar to Ryon's video, and also let say if you want to update your character by adding some more sprites as for example a pet following your character which the previous version of your character doesn't have it, which way (first or second) would be much better to update the new pet sprites to your existing palette so that it would not screw the whole character's sprite in the sff?
Алексей Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 To add colors to a palette, I usually do just that. I take my existing palette into Photoshop or edit it directly with Fighter Factory, add the colors to blank areas of the palette and overwrite my old palette. Now that my palette has extra colors, I use that palette to index future images. If more colors need to be added, you'd just repeat the same process, using the latest palette for all new images. See, since the palette is being updated in Fighter Factory, your sprites won't get messed up because the palette your sprites have in the sff is ultimately the most important factor. Individual sprite palettes matter only in the beginning of creating your palette for the first time. -[Все слова это только слова.]-
