  1. Yeah, "Berabow Man" is an overly-literal reading of the Japanese, but you'll sometimes find it listed under that name (or sometimes "Beraboh Man").  Some people use it to refer to the arcade game (which was only released in Japan), as opposed to the rather different TG-16 version (which did get an English port).

And with the history lesson out of the way.... going to try this character.  Borewood's stuff is usually at the very least competent.

  2. As far as I can tell, VirtualBox still requires a copy of Windows, which I don't have and don't want to buy just for Mugen.

I just want a link to download one of the existing Mac wrappers for Mugen (like the one I already had on my old computer).  I don't want to have to install multiple operating systems on my computer just to play one game.

  3. I hope this is appropriate for this section. I think it is.

I'm looking for a new Mac MUGEN wrapper for my new computer.  My old computer that I'd been playing MUGEN on is pretty much kaput, so I'm not sure I can get it off of there.  I was using der Kunstler's EvE wrapper, but he took that one offline some time ago.  MUGEN X appears to be offline as well (there's a 509 "too much traffic" error when I try to download it).

... before you suggest it, Bootcamp is not a viable option, because I don't want to have to restart my entire computer every time I want to play MUGEN - let alone the fact that I don't have a copy of Windows, and I don't want to go out and buy one just for MUGEN.  VirtualBox and other Windows emulators have the latter issue as well.

So is there any place online to get any of the existing Mac MUGEN wrappers? (I'd much prefer the EvE "Starter kit" like I had before, which comes with Master Ryu, Master Ken, and one background, but any will do)

  4. Looks like there was an update back on November 29th, but I'm not sure what it says.

    2014/11/29
    ・防御解除時に発狂モード時移行すると攻撃しなくなるバグを修正

Google Translate gives me "Defense release during Fixed a bug that will not attack the mad mode during migration".  I think it means that the author fixed a bug causing it to not attack during the change to Mad Mode, but your guess is as good as mine.  Possibly better :D

  5. It's actually an old arcade game, by Strata, the makers of Time Killers.  It wasn't nearly as bad as that game (though it wasn't very good, either).  Despite its pedigree, it actually had some really good ideas (like the ability to learn special moves from your opponent, Mega Man style; a password system that let you carry your saved character and all his/her learned moves into a new game; and having seven secret opponents to fight who were required to get the good ending).

I'm not sure which one you're calling the "hooker" character - Tempest (bottom row, third from left) is the daughter of the previous emperor (whose death was the reason for the tournament - the winner becomes the next ruler of the world), while Mirage (top row, second from right) is the ruler of Obsel Desert (where men are treated as cattle).

I always liked BloodStorm, despite the cheesiness.

Edit: Oh, wait, I recognize that author.  I downloaded these same characters a few months ago.  These particular BloodStorm characters are just bad spriteswaps of SF2 characters, and not even remotely source-accurate.  I suppose you can download them just for the SFF files to be able to make actual good (or at least passable) characters out of them.

  6. According to a hastily Google-translated Read Me file, the changes are:

    2014/10/15
    · Added a mad mode to attack pattern.
    · Power gauge absorption effect added by Mafu
    · Yabuya performance enhanced by the power gauge and the amount of tinnitus heaven
    · Change the attitude of the effects of Chrono Cross

Your guess is as good as mine as to what that means.

Also, its Life is now 9000 instead of 10000.  No other .cns values appear to be changed.

  7. You can get Ralph and Felix from RoySquadRocks' OneDrive: https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=CC8ACE125B3A87ED

Ralph and Felix are in the "My MUGEN Characters" directory, a Niceland stage is in the "My MUGEN Stages (1.0)" directory, and (and will probably be announced in Releases when it's done).  Roy's version of Q*Bert is also in his Characters directory.

From Bad Anon, Kano ("Cyborg") and Smoke ("Shinobi") can be found in the Mortal Kombat Collection topic, in the Collections section of this very forum.  Similarly, loads of Bowsers abound in the topic, and Robotnik can be found in the Collection topic.

  8. I hope this isn't too vague a subject for this topic (if it is, feel free to delete this post).

Are there any Breath of Fire characters made for MUGEN, other than UN's excellent Fou-Lu?  I've been hoping for an equally-good Ryuu (any of them) at the very least.

I've seen references to a WIP Rei (based on BoF3's sprites), but I can't actually find anywhere to download it.  (The creators page is here, but the Download link just leads to a 404 page)

Any others that I don't know about?
