This was one of my first and favorite fighting games when I was a kid! I would love to download a mugen character from that game just for the novelty!

Still is my favorite fighting game. I loved thinking I was the best just because no-one from school or my family could beat me at it.

  2. So, this is only being posted in Think Tank because I haven't seriously finished the process of setting this up again. I gave up after I hit the point where I would need to put actual effort in.

The idea is to use the Dolphin emulator as a means of exporting "sprites" in the form of native resolution, chroma-keyed screenshots which merely need to be cropped.

"But how might you do that?" I hear none of you saying. Good question! In the process of looking into how this might be accomplished I found some very useful tools built into the most recent versions of Dolphin, those being the Free Camera and Texture replacement.

Essentially, you dump the textures for a particular character as well as the map, color them all green (other than the character textures) and voila! Along with use of the Free Camera tool you now have the basic means of exporting "sprites" which are essentially just the animation frames of the various moves done by the character. There were, however, a few issues that I had to overcome somehow. How did I mass-replace the images with masses of green? How did I deal with shadows? How did I actually key out the green? Why did that one fucking texture on the World Tournament stage not want to be replaced? How do I plan on keeping up with the camera angle and position changes? What is an areola?

I don't actually remember, but I'm sure once I get back into my dark, depressing basement after my strangely pleasant recent exposure to the sun that I'll be able to figure this out once again. First character made with this method will be Yajirobe because he eats a green Senzu Bean and I want to hurt myself early on so I'm used to the pain.

What on earth is a prnt.sc if you don't mind me asking

    Nobody knows.

  4. In the Guidelines for the forums, the list of supported image sites makes sense. However, I was wondering about the legitimacy/allowability of links to Prnt.sc since it's not listed. It's used for the upload of screenshots made by using Lightshot. I've become fairly reliant on said tool and screenshots can't be merely pasted into threads, so I figured I would ask.

  5. After reading the position information I am definitely interested in a Social Media Expert position. Even though my specialty in fighting games is mostly 3D, I've been looking to make MUGEN videos and have the software to do so. I might stumble a bit with the calendar at first, however.

  6. Social Media Expert sounds good to me. I actively use social media and need a reason to upload YouTube videos, as well as a need to use an old forum I haven't used in a long time. Perhaps I could adapt it for Moderator use? I'm definitely interested and have put in my 30 day notice to work on April 5th in order to exclusively train for the Army which I leave for on June 5th.

I'm interested if the position is still available. Is there a forum post or section that explains the position more in-depth?

(Then again, I would have to find that old ProBoards forum in the first place and log into it. I'll definitely do it if you want, though.)

  7. Aw man, it's not based off of the SNES game? Oh well. The Green ranger character uses Genesis sprites, and it kicks ass.

I'm looking forward to this :D

While the SNES game was better in terms of gameplay in general, I have more fond memories of the Genesis version. Who knows, though? There might be some sort of compromise made. *Wink*

  8. That's right. Goldar from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers on the Genesis. I will be posting over time and have no deadline for this project. I will make custom sprites(Mostly due to how little the original sprites give me to work with) and, as I'm typing this up, am planning on listening to the original show that way I can work on impressions.

That's right. This project is going to consist of:

    • Custom Sprites for Supers
    • Voice Acting
    • 90's fun.
    • Other features to be announced
    • Lots of setbacks

This is going to be a lot of fun and will include a lot of learning as well(as this is my first character). I hope to finish this project as soon as possible. I also hope to work on the actual Rangers from other games in order to make a full game.

    Progress so far:

    Planning: 60%

    Movement: 0%

    Basic Attacks: 0%

    Projectiles: 0%

    Supers: 0%

    Counters: 0%

    Voice Acting: 0%

  9. the reason its so large is all the effects he used. if you overpowered characters with alot of effects this is for you. like he said its not meant to be accurate its meant to be a custom version by him that is "fun to play with".

Well, I'm not one for "accurate gameplay". I just want a good character. I'll give it a shot.
