what is the reason for such a resolution?

 

im just curious? cause .. its... like HD but not really wide screen HD..

 

but then again 4:3 HD sucks? so whats the reason??

960x720 is non-sense.  1280x720 is 1280x960 with the y dimension shortened to make it "wide".  Widescreen resolutions all work this way because multiples of 1/4 are cleaner than multiples of 1/3.  You don't make 4:3 resolutions by modifying the x dimension of a 16:9 resolution and vice versa.

 

In short, if you want to target multiple aspects and have real HD, you should target 1280x960 or 1920x1440.

At this resolution, the scaling will cause loss of quality.  And what are you supposed to scale it to?  Any use of localcoord will result in some awful scaling multiple of 1/3 and ruin the scale of the background elements in comparison to the fighters on screen.

 

The fact remains that 960x720 isn't a good target resolution. Mugen is a PC program, not an Xbox Live download.

Nice stage Ex, are you planning to create some stages from concole ver., like Esaka or Iori '95 remix stage?

Many chars create not for HD res, so there some problems when use supers or cling to the wall (like spider-man, or Felicia), so they must be edited.

I'm not a fan of giant characters, they look entirely too big on the stage in that resolution

that's why you put custom localcoord to each character to make them smaller. I don't know why people don't do that in HD mugen (They look really huge without custom localcoords).
