LightFlare unleashes his signature move...The LightFlare Cannon! Although this move is rather large and powerful, many years of training has allowed LightFlare to unleash it with very little charge time, while maintaining substantial power. And with little distance between him and Hyde, it would be very hard for Hyde to counter. Hydes projectile is engulfed in the large beam attack as it continues toward Hyde. 

Hyde: (You've got to be kidding me!)

(Hyde quickly dodges out of the way of the beam, nearly hitting him)

Hyde: Shadow Scare!

(Hyde stabs is sword into the ground, causing an eruption from the ground near LightFlare)

LightFlare maintained his beam attack. As a result, Hydes attack collides with the LightFlare Cannon. Due to the width of LightFlare's attack, Hydes explosion is caught in the path of the beam but is not cancelled. It instead causes an explosion that stops LightFlare's attack all together and pushes LightFlare back into the air. LightFlare lands on his feet but soon realizes Hyde is no ordinary fighter.

LightFlare's field vision is obscured from the explosion. LightFlare's tries to recover and is unable to immediately go back on the offensive.

 

35 secs in and this is already getting explosive! Literally! Looks like Hyde has LightFlare on the ropes!

LightFlare extendes his arm and raises his forearm the exact moment the blade comes within range of his body. He uses his forearm to Parry the blade, pushing the blade slightly to the side of LightFlare. This move does not change Hyde's momentum, but allow space for LightFlare to counter attack. If he had attacked blindly or even at all, he would have been struck as his parry can only he used when he's not currently attacking.

 

LightFlare lowers his center of gravity and slowly brings his fist back as dark energy surrounds him. He attempts to deliver a powerful punch. Although strong, LightFlare appears to be unable to position his arms to block, seemingly leaving his body exposed to incoming attacks. If he is successful, the punch will cause Hyde to momentarily be stunned and fall to the ground.

 

We're 45 secs into the round and it looks like Hyde has successfully closed the Gap and has moved in on LightFlare! But somehow LightFlare was able to counter Hyde's attack! Will Hyde's speed be enough to put the pressure on LightFlare and force him to make a mistake!?

By now, the fight had only intensified since Raina had seen the screen. It was clear that a lot had occurred during her trip.

Hoooooly crap! What a move! It looked as if Hyde had LightFlare for sure! But he pulls out yet another suprise attack!

Although he was able to quickly attack, some damage is sustained from Hyde's blade. However due to the properties of his Focus Attack, he is able to regain the energy he lost. The amount of time it takes to regain his health is determined by how much he moves immediately acter using the technique. Standing still...ensures maximum health recovery from the inflicted attack. LightFlare takes his stance while recovering from the attack he just absorbed. He breaths slowly to further speed up the process...

(Hyde puts his sword in a different stance as the projectile detonates near LightFlare)

Unlike before, LightFlare was prepared for Hyde's explosive attack. LightFlare leaps back just as the attack explodes preventing him from receiving damage, but also preventing him from completely healing from the previous attack. His health however continues to gain but at a slower pace.

LightFlare lowers his center of gravity and grunts as he stomps the ground. A redish, purple aura momentarily imminates from his back but disappears quickly. He lifts one knee up as he moves across the arena towards Hyde. His movement suggests that he is not actually running...but is actually gliding.

 

 

LightFlare narrowly escapes that last attack! He quickly tries to close the gap again! 1min 5sec has passed!

Raina didn't want to assume too much. He seemed to have that dark side under control, but obviously Raina needed to know more about that fighter.

The blade in fact passes through LightFlare's body. Using his Bending Light technique, he can pass through solid objects while advancing toward his target at the same time. He stops behind Hyde. Before Hyde could turn around, LightFlare quickly executes a sweeping roundhouse aimed at Hyde's legs.

Location: The Arena - Reception

 

Anwalt saw the fierce fight and how LightFlare seemed to have everything under his control and how almost none of Hyde's attacks were working against him.

 

Anwalt: OK, that guy's clearly something else altogether. Guess the "hero" title isn't just for show.

Anwalt: Though that aura of his... is it a demonic one?

 

Location: The Arena - Virtual Training

 

While everyone was seeing the fight, Lucent kept on training. The AI didn't seem to give too much of an effort, but he still kept being very attentive of their movements even if the session was almost over.

 

Lucent: *evades a slash* Close one. Now for the riposte.

 

Lucent attacked the soldier three times and used Cragfall to push him away with a single crystal. Soon, all of the soldiers were reunited into one place.

 

Lucent: Alright, just a little more and-

Machine: Time up. Session has ended. Please leave the room.

Lucent: Already? OK. I did manage to train a while and to vent out my frustration. Guess my swordsmanship needs a little more practice, but I'm not fanatic for fights...

 

Location: The Arena - Training Room

 

Lucent left the virtual reality room and looked at the TV. He saw that Hyde has just attacked and LightFlare used a move to move around impervious.

 

Lucent: Just by this sight and I can see that Hyde's struggling to stand up and attack. Whoever this person is, he's tough.

Lucent: (I might just stand here and keep watching. I'm not going to fight anyone, anyway, and I don't want to head back to the seats.)

Penelope observed the fight going on in the arena eagerly. The aura of the guy Hyde was facing was pretty creepy, and Hyde's attacks having no effect made it look like the guy was playing with him like he was a toy. It was actually really hard to watch. He probably wasn't going to last very long at this rate, so it was time to act!

 

Penelope: (Yeesh, it's like he's fighting a moving wall!)

 

Penelope: Go, Hyde! You can do it! Take it slooooow! Take it sloooooooow! I...I think that's what you do!

Hydes quick thinking pays off and LightFlare is struck during his attack sending LightFlare to the ground.

 

What a move! Hyde is NOT going down without a fight! The score is now 2 to 1 in favor of LightFlare! But the fight is far from over!

 

The crowd explodes into cheers as the momentum shifts in favor of Hyde. LightFlare flips back to his feet...

 

(Well done...)

 

LightFlare slightly grins and nods his head at Hyde, silently congratulating Hyde on his move. He begins to slowly advance toward Hyde, circling Hyde as he closes the distance between them.

 

1 min 25 sec! Were almost at the halfway mark! 

 

Meanwhile back in the training room, a few of the fighters have paused their sessions to take note of the fight. 

 

(Well...looks like "pretty boy" is learning on the fly. Heh. Can't wait to tease Light about this one.)

Lucent: (Wow, Hyde actually managed to a get a knockdown. That's surprising.)

Lucent: (Though I have a good feeling this small knockdown will actually be his last...)

 

Location: The Arena - Lobby

 

Anwalt: OK, Hyde got one. If he gets everything on place, he might be able to win in the end!

Penelope gasped.

'

Penelope: (Whoa...he actually got one!)

 

It must've been her cheering. She had to keep it going now; with the knowledge that cheering someone on actually did power them up, it only motivated her to intensify her cheering.

 

Penelope: Yah, yah, you can do it! Gooooo Hyde! Hit him with all ya got, and keep him on the ropes! Then you get him, and you win! You just gotta keep up the pressure and watch out for the flashy thingy!

 

 

She felt like she was getting a lot better with this battle observing thing. Maybe she could be an announcer one day!

"Not bad."

 

Lilith was impressed by the move Hyde had just pulled, managing to catch the "hero" off guard.

 

"Unfortunately, it seems the kid has shown his full hand. If that's the case then this match is decided."

While looking at the TV, Lucent looked at Lilith, seeing how she paid attention with far more interest and experience than he would have.

 

Lucent: (I suppose a little chat wouldn't be a problem. She might not visually recognize me, but my voice and aura will give me away.)

 

He went towards her. Lilith never seemed the friendly type, but he thought a different opinion on the fight might pique an interest in the shenanigans of this fight.

 

Lucent: I don't want to assume anything, but you also think that Hyde's going to lose, right?

"I do. You can see it in their movements. Hyde's movements are aggressive focusing on offense. His plan was to apply pressure to his opponent and force them to make a mistake. He's thinking on the fly and while that's not a bad thing, it doesn't seem like he knows an alternative approach. As for his opponent, his movements are calm and refined. It's clear that he had years of experience. It won't be easy to put him in a spot where he will have trouble."

 

She turned to look at Lucent becoming surprised at the different appearance.

 

"The aura is the same, but the look is drastically different. Are you even the same person?"

Lucent: Yes, I am. My power allows me to conceal my identity, somehow. It's not that useful, though, and I'm the worst liar I know, so I don't rely much on it.

Lucent: As for the idea of doing this, it's best left unspoken. I assure you, I was against it but I ended up conceding.

"It's useful enough to throw off any pursuers. But aren't you on a trip? Seems strange you would change your look when you're supposed to be on vacation and honestly, I don't believe the people of this world would be put off with how you look."

Lucent: That's exactly what I said to him. You'll understand me once you get a brother like mine...

 

He gave another look around and saw the good amount of fighters. Most of them were human, though the crowd had other races of creatures.

 

Lucent: I have to admit, there's a good amount of fighters here. I wonder what's so exciting about battling that much.
