This is just a random idea I had for a MUGEN full game, I'm working on some character designs to go with this...

For now, I only have a very basic story, and the backstories of the playable characters, and the two bosses:

Title:

Kamigoroshi: Slayer of the Gods

Story:

Eons ago, there where thousands of gods. The gods split into two factions, which where at war with each other. On one side, there where those who believed gods would not interfere with the inhabitants of the newly created mortal plane of existence. The others believed they where superior and had the right to rule over it. It was an unwinnable war, as gods where immortal. So, to end the war, those who believed they should rule forged a blade. It was a blade made of the finest steel and enchanced with the mightiest magic. That blade was the Kamigoroshi, the only weapon capable of slaying a god. The casualities where numerous, but in the end, the ones who had forged the Kamigoroshi lost. To make sure something like this event never happened again, the gods guarded the balde on a temple hidden deep within the mountains of Japan, guarded by the god of fire. With time, the story of the Kamigoroshi became a mere legend...

Characters Backstory:

Shimo: Somewhere in the Northern parts of Asia, there exists a secret clan of mercenaries known only has the Shadow Dragon. These warriors make a living out of the people who pay for their services. One of these warriors was Shimo. Many years ago, he was hired by a mysterious man to steal the legendary Kamigoroshi. The Kamigoroshi is a mitical sword, said to possess the power to slay gods. Shimo was chosen for this mission because of his power to manipulate ice. He climbed to the top of the mountains, and found the temple in which the sword was keept. Believing the stories surrounding the sword where mere legends, he was horrified when he encountered the specter known as Kasai. He escaped with his life, but he had failed his mission. Now, to redeem himself, he has taken one final mission: To assassinate the sorcerer Ryoku.

Fei Lian: The name Fei Lian was a name given by the chinese to the deity known as the Wind God. To manifest himself in the mortal realm, he had to take on a mortal form, as a god's true shape is uncomprehensible to humans. His mission in the mortal plane of existence is simple: he must slay the specter known as Kasai and return the Kamigoroshi, a blade capable of slaying even the mightiest god. Now that Kasai has come out of his temple, he will complete his mission.

Hades: Like Fei Lian, Hades is one of the many manifestations of a god. In this case, the god of death. He, however, prefers to go by the name of his greek incarnation. Enraged at being forced to stay with the tormented souls, he seeks Kasai to offer him a deal: Life, in exchange for assistance in overthrowing the gods, for only the Kamigoroshi can slay an immortal, and a god must not touch it.

Ramro: A monk from tibet who has great talent for martial arts, Ramro seeks the Kamigoroshi for his own reasons: tired of seeing his people opressed, he decided to cut the problem by its root. He will slay the seven gods representing sin. But for that, he needs to acquire the legendary blade. Now that Fei Lian and Hades have come to the mortal plane, he will slay them and trap their power within the sword, and then using it to ascend to the heavens, where he will conduct his unholy act.

Cita: An italian adventurer who has been all around the world, Cita's hobby is collecting relics. She heard of the legend of the Kamigoroshi and set on a journey which has took her all around the world. Now, she has finally located the legendary blade. She will be very happy to have it in her personal collection.

Naar: A young african shaman, Naar has heard of the legend of the Kamigoroshi. For years he has tried to locate the sword, but to no avail. Now, he has been invited by the sorcerer Ryoku to compete in his tournament, under the promise that the winner would take the sword. Naar acepted. He believes that by acquiring the sword, he will be able to travel to the heavens and gain contact with the gods.

Nash: An american martial arts prodigy, Nash lost his girlfriend in a tragic car accident. Sad and desperate, he was taken advantage of by the sorcerer Ryoku: He was promised that, if he came to compete in the tournament and won, he would be give the Kamigoroshi, and with it, he would be able to slay the god of death, and bring his lover back. Nash accepted. He will bring her back, not matter the cost.

Bosses:

Kasai: On top of the northern mountains of Japan, lies a temple. In it, lives the Spectre known as Kasai. He guards his most prized possession, the Kamigoroshi, a sword which he, while living, stole from the gods. This did not come without consequences however: he is now a faceless ghost, his face set ablaze by the God of Fire. His head is covered in flames which continue burning to this day. Now, the mystical incantation to summon him as been spoken. Now, he will succed in what he failed years ago: the assassination of the warrior known has Shimo.

Ryoku: A sorcerer who is over 1000 years old, Ryoku is the host of a mysterious tournament. Ryoku was alchemist who tought he had stumbled upon the secret to immortality. His formula, however, was flawed. It had given him eternal life, but it had not stopped his aging process. Ryoku, however, found the solution: He used his magic to consume the essence of mortals. The people in his village became terrified of him, and, believing he was a demon, threw him off a cliff. Surviving the fall by grabbing on a ledge, Ryoku went into isolation. Centuries without comsuming life essence have left Ryoku old, but not weak. During his isolation, he discovered an interesting thing about his magic: the stronger the person, the more powerful the soul. He discovered that, if powerful enough, the souls could even reverse his aging. Now, he devised a plan: He spoke the incantation that bounds the spectre Kasai, summoning him. He promised him that he would allow him to finish his battle with Shimo, by luring the mercenary into a tournament held by him. He would lure the most powerful warriors on Earth to this tournament, under the false promise of winning the Kamigoroshi. Then, he would consume their life forces and become young again. The coming of two gods would only serve to give him even more power...
