Samurai Shodown - Bathed in Blood

Hello everyone. I think I've gotten enough done to show you guys what I'm doing. I'm attempting to create a Sam Sho game that will add blood and gore effects similar to that of Mortal Kombat. Blood will splat on the floor and the death animations will contain gory effects to replace those black insides that the Sam Sho character roster has sported from the beginning. I also aim to add a parry move to each character and I will also balance all of the characters out so that they use the same amount of buttons and same gameplay style. I'm going for a very simple Sam Sho 2 gameplay system just to keep it easy on myself who has no real good experience with programming Mugen. Not yet anyways but if I get better and I get these first features that I've spoke of accomplished then I may further enhance these characters. Each character will have at least 3 super moves. One will be a level 1 super move, 1 will be a level 2 super move, and 1 will be a level 3 super move. The level 1 move will take off at least 25% of the enemies health. The level 2 move will take away 50% and the level 3 move will take away at least 75%. Some of the characters like the bosses may have more then 3 super moves and more then 3 levels of a super bar so expect instant death with some of their moves.

 

I'm gathering up every character from Sam Sho 1-4. So you can expect all of the greats. Never cared for Sam Sho 5-6 so don't ask about those wannabes. All of the characters and bosses including Kuroko will be playable and there will be a good ending for the good guys and a bad ending for the bad guys. Remember I'm trying to keep this simple at first just so I can actually get something out there for you guys to play. So I'm just making 2 endings for now. I'm also adopting Kongou from the Capcom game Red Earth aka Warzard to stand in as the very first Ambrosia to appear in a Sam Sho game. He really fits in and I'm making sure to make him tough and satisfying when he's defeated.

 

Stages will be taken from Sam Sho 5 and a couple from Sam Sho 2 and 3 since I couldn't find any newer versions that fit certain characters. I will try to add something to every stage to make them stand out a little more if I can. They will be fully compatible with Mugen 1.1's zoom feature.

 

There will be a Mugen 1.0 and a Mugen 1.1 version of this game. Mainly due to the stages. But the way to play is Mugen 1.1. It's awesome so far.

None of the characters or the stages or even the screen pack were made by me. I take no credit for creating them from scratch. I merely edited them to my liking and that is all. All creators will be emailed and or PM'ed and they will all be recognized in the readme file of this game for their outstanding work. They have saved me so much time and they are highly skilled at their craft. Sprite ripping is an art form.

I've updated the first post of this thread with a link to my primary forum post for this game. You can go there to find the latest news and info as well as screenshots for this game. It's much easier for me to keep up with adding screenshots and info in one thread.

 

The thread has been updated with screenshots for all of the character stages. Check it out and let me know what you think.

if u give up on this , i will literally hunt u down , this is looking so damn good, love the intro pics and the stages look good as well, and the new blood effects, forget about it, pure epicness

wow thanks man. coming from u that means a lot. i won't give up. I've never stopped work on a mod. I've always finished as long as nothing dumb happened like a hard drive crash. and I've been blessed enough not to have that happen. so don't worry. we got the Lord on our side.

Zankuro stage is done. Pics updated for the second and third part of the stage.

 

At this point all stages are in their final state.

 

Now I need to get back to making that screen pack for Godzilla Battle Legends.

Nakoruru's and Rimururu's stage pics have been updated. I made the snow falling in Nakoruru's stage overlap the characters and I made more snow in Rimururu's stage overlap the characters. It looks a lot better now especially in Nakoruru's stage.

 

Sogetsu's stage pic has also been updated. I made the rain overlap the characters as it should and I also added rain drops on the ground. Just adding the raindrops makes it look so much better.

I just added some more pics to the Intro section of the screenshots. There's now a nice little quick movie that shows the Stones in Green Hell getting snatched by evil forces. That's the beginning of my story and it roughly goes along with the original Sam Sho story. I had to combine several story elements and plots since I've combined so many characters from 4 different Sam Sho games. The bad guys take the stones to bring back their Ambrosia to destroy the world. Nice and simple.

 

I also added a couple of pics at the end of the Intro section that show off some of the gore you'll see in the game. Notice the two guys from Last Blade getting their guts spilled as they fall into 2 separate halves.

Thanks for clearing that up Erroratu.

 

I just updated the intro section of the screenshots. You now see who took the stones from Green Hell and who all is involved in bringing Ambrosia to this world.

yeah i got the stages well taken care of and the bgm is done too. i even added the proper ambient sounds into the bgm like for instance the waterfall sfx in galfords stage or the crows in hanzos stage. but you know what youll be my beta tester from now on. ill get u a copy of what i got so far since i have to do other things for other mods before i start on the actual character work. so u can tell me what u think about the game at this point. itll be a little while before i can get back to work on this game and i would like to see what others think of it so far. what do u say?
