I have test your Oni mr.Borewood. I really impress because your Oni move really smooth. It feel like I'm playing Oni on my PS3. Can't wait for the finished version, keep it up and I hope you will make his A.I stronger because that will be awesome!

Quite Right. I really excited for the final release of that awesome Oni and for Abel too.

Since there are no 2D version SSFIV Abel sprites out yet, I continue to use my half-ass ripping skill to rip "sprites" from SSFIV.



At least I am trying to make a Custom SSFIV Abel as much playable as possible in MUGEN 1.0.
By the way, "Custom" means "Inaccurate"

It's strange. You mention lots of sources for your codes involving hitboxes, frame data, attack properties, and when I start playing with him I noticed that his slowness right from the bat.

 

You know, weak attacks in fighting games tend to have 3-6 frames of startup.

 

In this guide ( http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Super_Street_Fighter_IV_AE/Abel ) you'll see that Abel close LP has 4 frames of startup and far LP has 5.

 

Your Abel has 9 frames of startup for close LP and 8 startup for far LP.

 

All of his attacks are at least twice or thrice, or 4 times as slow as they were in the source game. While in SSF4 Abel's jumping forward LK has startup of 4 frames, yours have incredible 14. Not even Juggernaut is this slow.

 

Despite talking about frame data and other game mechanics I'm definitely not an accuracy-freak. I don't even like SF4, actually. But I played it and I know that none of the chars in that game are this slow. Give priority in fixing his speed.

Thank you for your opinion!  The number of frames I use is different from the real game's because I want my Custom Abel animations to run smoother in MUGEN.  I already made extra hit states with fewer frames in animations when Abel is doing combos.  I guess you were mentioning the idle ones.

 

I think I will make two versions: 1. the slower yet smoother animations 2. the faster yet choppier animations

 

By the way, although I included those Abel guides in the ZIP file, I didn't 100% follow every tip they mentioned because I just don't have the skill, and many 2.5/3D-only features have to be re-adjusted and even sacrificed when being ported to the pure 2D MUGEN.  After all, I really suck at source accuracy hence I label my MUGEN stuff as "Custom".

I use OnoEdit to disable things and then do game movies and capture frames and clean each frame by hand.........
You can put anything in *****wood and call me that, yet, for now I call myself Borewood

SF3 Alex has now to face SSF4 Abel in MUGEN! Two "A"'s from two SF generations!

** from last WIP: not much beta-testing issue-related result reported.......only Rimu's "excess of frames" issue was fixed

** known issue: I couldn't get the proper localcord and MUGEN x/y scaling to work.........

SSFIV El Fuerte have not been converted to MUGEN yet so I decide to do him!

USFIV is just out so I am going to mugenize Decapre!

 

=> 2014-08-08 progress:

- ripping El Fuerte "sprites"

- ripping Decapre "sprites"

 

** waiting for someone to rip USFIV sounds+voices of El Fuerte & Decapre....
