  1. Hello! Really sorry if this is the wrong section for this. I post in the wrong section in some other forums, and people are like... "uhh... okay?" and I look like an idiot. I'd like to show my Mugen setup and ask for recommendations. I'm primarily talking about health bars and characters. I'm going to show some pictures of my Mugen setup to see if anybody thinks anything in my Mugen needs changing, from stages to healthbars to characters, etc. The healthbar I have is very functional. All of my characters automatically fill up that avatar/picture spot. The health left in numbers from debug mode is clearly visible above the actual healthbar and it's a good contrast on the grey background. However, visually I think it leaves something to be desired. I find the infinity symbol to be distracting because it's pretty pixelated. It's not as obvious in the picture above because of the dark background. What I'm not looking for is a healthbar that covers much more of the screen than the one I have right here. I'm debating whether to install some Ougon Musou Kyoku healthbar I've found, but it takes up too much space on the screen, so I am leaning away from it. Oh, and the stage. I like Margitroid's stages. They are just great. They are also high-res. I'm not looking for anything below 720p. I run my Mugen at 1080p and resolution matters. Unfortunately, 1080p screenpacks and stages are hard to come by. This is my roster. As you can see, there are spots left. Anything under the last Kyo in the roster is just experimental and might not stay on the roster for long. As you can see, in an effort to mix things up, I've decided to put up Homer and some characters I don't recognize. The characters here are organized in order of strength. I spent an ungodly amount of time running matches to sort the characters. I used a 150x150 Excel spreadsheet, begged for a code to transfer the data into PGN form, and used a chess ratings calculator to calculate elo so I can order the characters by elo. I don't want all characters to be ridiculously OP and I do want some variety. However, the average strength of the characters is pretty high (median strength being around Orochi Mature FMX508 level, or Shin Iori/Ramon 71113/Schlussel Ptan/Iori Beppu level). The roster is nearly full, but I may pull out some characters in the future for one reason or the other... make room for new stuff. I know there are Characters of The Month threads, and there are threads of characters from franchises I've never seen but nevertheless like the look of. The problem is that these characters often have subpar AI. I seem to have a higher tolerance for cheap characters and glitchy characters so long as the AI matches look good. When it comes to actually playing the characters myself, the answer is I rarely do. Finding characters that are good to play with is easy, but finding characters that look visually pleasing while still having good coding/AI is tough. I'm looking to fill my roster with some non-KOF characters that are of decent and varying difficulty (by difficulty and strength I'm just talking about how tough a character with its AI is to beat for the average character + AI). I don't want to say "...and over here, at the end of my roster, are 20 nice looking characters I recently added... and they're all at the end because they have the worst AI ever." Imagine if I could spread characters of different franchises across different parts of the roster. (Again, that would only happen if the characters are of varying difficulty levels.) Main menu. It doesn't fit with my KOF characters, but whatever. The theme looks good, both in terms of art style and resolution. Thus ends my Mugen Show & Tell. To recap: I am looking for non-KOF characters that are coded well and look good when fighting against other AI. One of the main factors for that is having a good AI, but having a kindda-cheap character is acceptable as well. My lifebar situation needs to be sorted out as well - I am looking for one that is high-res, will let the faces of my characters show up by default, and doesn't cover up too much of the screen. And heck, if you just want to comment about my Mugen setup or tell me what you look for in your Mugen collection (be it characters, stages, music, motifs), I would love to read all about it. Share your Mugen setup if you'd like.
  2. Lol If you still want me to test, I'm around.
  3. I watch. Because I suck at Mugen. Because I spend most of the time watching, characters with bad AI is a huge turnoff.
  4. -Ridiculously OP characters with a few exceptions. -Characters with their own bars and such, usually out of place with my theme and low res. -Characters that have regenerating health. -Characters that deal damage with the damage formula based upon the opponent's health. -Characters that look too silly. -Characters that don't work with the latest version of MUGEN. -Characters with ridiculously flashy idle animations and such. I can't see anything!
  5. Are you saying it's a cosmetic change only? If so, I'll probably pass on this Iori.
  6. Whoa, randomly clicked onto this forum section and into this thread. So it looks like there are two Reas patches... one by Ikaruga and one by Duagi. Ikaruga's patch seems to be stronger than Duagi's. For some reason, Reas patched with Duagi's patch only does 330 damage with her 3 power bar hyper on Reas patched with Ikaruga's patch, whereas Ikaruga's Reas hits the full 650 on Duagi's Reas. I thought, either Duagi's Reas deals less damage than normal or Ikaruga's Reas has more defense than normal. Testing with other character shows neither is the case?! Confused. It's a little hard to believe that Ikaruga can make a patch that is so much stronger than Duagi's, which is already a huge improvement over the stock AI. I hope only the AI was changed. I order my MUGEN characters by strength, so I can more easily see the differences in strength between each edit. EDIT: More testing seems to show that my Reas patched with Ikaruga's patch is taking half damage from Iori UM's DMs. Blegh.
