Yea, I figured that one by looking at Diz's actions over the past....2-3 years or so. And while I can't prove it, I'm absolutely sure the DDOS that happened in April was MA's doing(Whether it was Dizzy or one of his MA zealots)
 
My opinion hasn't changed, in fact his recent actions has further reinforced my thoughts. Archive is a good idea in theory, but it's run by the worst kind of people.

Archives higher-ups do nothing but spew venom at everyone that remotely even disagrees with them even going as far as banning anyone that does so. I'm pretty sure they were the ones that told their members to constantly harass the other discords.
 
As long as individuals like Dizzy and Sol mantain a high rank position, Archive is better off remaining blacklisted as a principle.

Well congrafuckinglations, for some reason Idaho was willing to do something with your Link. He works hard on his Link and all he requests from you is a few additional sprites. You then proceed to tell him to go fuck himself and to make the sprites himself. Uh, are you fucking stupid? If he was capable of spriting don't you think he would have done so? You've "made" the Link sprites already, the LEAST you could have done was make a few more while he continues coding.

Oh ho ho, it gets better. You have the BALLS to call his character bad because ONE move is not to your liking. YOU FUCKING UNGRATEFUL PRICK, Idaho worked his ass to make an actual GOOD character and you proceed to shit on him? He should have been more creative with the leaf? You know....the thing that was never used as an attack and strictly for getting from point A to point B? You know what, given the source material Idaho was right to make it an intro and not an actual attack. Speaking of source material, want to know what wis the best choice to make as a super move? His smash bros. Final Smash. You know that auto combo move you hate? He shouldn't have added it because it's not creative enough? It's the worst choice for a hyper move? That's a load of BULLSHIT. Auto combo supers are still being used and why? BECAUSE THEY MAKE SENSE AND ARE EFFECTIVE AS SUPER MOVES.

OH BUT IT GETS FUCKING BETTER. You're still not satisfied and want to shit on Idaho even more by telling him that not only his Link is a bad character(This, coming from Ax of all people? HA!), but that it will be easily replaced by another? My god, can you possibly be even more of a shithead? Characters that reply to threads that had no activity in 2 years.

Let's start from square 1. Judgespear. The most probable main reason for his popularity was because he was one of the first to use Warner's Homer in a Mugen video. Of course, the idea of Homer taking on the likes of Ryu and co. was silly, but it's the idea that people liked. JS would later make a group called Team SMRT to update that Homer(Spoilers: It wasn't that much better from the original version and the original version had it's share of serious flaws). They would later do the same for Warner's Peter and Giant chicken when they got released(Same results as Homer [There was also an edit to a Johnny Maximum but I think that was a solo JS thing]). People from this era will remember JS's Peter vs. Sakura video for appearing in G4TV's Attack of the show as a MvC1 hack with Peter Griffin.
 
Did JS pioneer the way for Mugen videos on YT? Honestly no. There were others who also did Mugen videos at the time, he wasn't even the first. JS just happened to be the most noteworthy one of them all.
 
Mugen teams
 
The short version is that these were the a person's current rotation of characters that he would most likely use in a Mugen video. The long version is that people used these teams as a way to express their individuality and style. I don't know what the first Mugen team was but it certainly took off and you saw it very prominently among the YT Mugen community. It also made for another storytelling method as people would use them to tell their adventures as an excuse for certain Mugen fights. Nowadays, there are only very few of these teams left.

People hate broken shit. Simple as that. Criticism was much harsher back in the day. And their way was to...well....do this. It's not done so much anymore because we realized this was stupid.

I look at that thread link you posted.and I don't see what it has to do with this. But I will mention that back in the day, accuracy to source was pretty much everything. But this was due to the stigma from most custom creations being really bad like......like current day PotS style. So really nothing has changed, it's just not as vocal.
 
Uh no, a character being broken does in fact mean it isn't well made. As cool as Reu's evil duo looked, they were broken for the wrong reasons. His Dragon Claw is the only one I can consider well made if you treat him like a boss character. AI has nothing to do with it. I've seen well made characters with strong AI and poorly done ones with weak AI.
 
The Drama
 
Ah yes, drama. Let's be honest, no matter the era, there will always be drama. That Haruhi you mentioned did become busted in later updates adding unnecessary stuff and ultimately becoming a fetish character. I do remember a certain someone being offended when their Waifu got beaten, which was really stupid and made him an easy target to spite.
 
Yea, the drama was ridiculous but when is drama not ridiculous? Honestly, JS says that's the reason he left, but I think it was because he got dragged into it and became part of the drama as well. The other reason could be that he was looking for a way out of Mugen to focus on his fan games and he found it this way.
 
Conclusion
 
The era shouldn't be forgotten. We can't pretend it didn't happen. It wasn't all bad, there were some good moments that came from it and some of the stuff is still used now. Heck, I dare say it also produced the best YT Mugen videos. There was more variety in character usage and it's just more exciting to see a human player overcome the odds. Most videos now are just cookie cutter Capcom and SNK characters in AI battles.

If I have personal beef with MA then so do a lot of people in MFG and here. No, it's less personal beef and more my belief that certain people shouldn't have power. The fact that you claim MA provides a useful service is amusing. Their "service" isn't exclusive to them. The collections section here in MFFA is a good alternative for example and I'm certain there are other places that provide the same "service". Mediafire can go down like other file sharing sites. True. You know what else can go down like other file sharing sites? Mugen Archive's servers. They're not immune to this possibility either. MA can suddenly go kaput without warning just like any other site.
 
Terrible analogy. When I shop at Wal-mart, I don't have to have a thorough check up on myself to see if I've been infected with cancer. Wal-mart doesn't steal other products and claim it as their own. Wal-mart doesn't go to other megastores to cause a commotion. Wal-mart doesn't ask it's customers to go to their competition to shit on it. Wal-mart isn't paranoid that the other megastores are conspiring together to shut it down. Wal-mart doesn't believe that multiple people that don't like the store are in reality the same person with different identities.
